  1. The bass-man strikes again! Well Done Alun for getting out. Rob
  2. I was not amused by this, though sadly true!: "Rob Francis got lucky with a flounder of 3lb 3oz....". Liked this bit: "cleaned up the big prizes." - I'm still spending it! Though the credit card bill is in from the Post Xmas sales! Thanks Tom for getting such good exposure for the club. Rob
  3. Peter, If you mean CQuip who have it on their website: http://www.cquip.com/Page.php?id=169 I might be able to help as one of the directors is a friend of mine. Rob
  4. Just checked my email and this is the big brother of above and good value @
  5. Get one of these solar panels and leave it plugged in in the window. One of our cars has an issue of draining the battery via the alarm and immobiliser, if left for 2 weeks. All we do is pop this in the cig lighter socket (this must be live with the ignition off!), and hey presto (some also have croc clips). This trickle charges the battery and you would be suprised how effective it is. You could even hard wire it in so you don't have to remember. Ebay shop selling them: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Home-N-Hobbies The best
  6. Sounds like a great day out Dave well done, I am sadly jealous! Rob
  7. Nice one Alun, Was that the same spot we fished comparatively unproductively before Xmas? Mackerel bait? Rob

    Spinning Reel

I like the look of the Penn Captiva. Paul Rowcliffe has a 5000 (I think) it is very nice. There is also a baitrunner\freespool version too. I has 7 or 10 BB and is very smooth! Rob
  9. Hey - I netted it! Alun just did the hooking, playing and taming!!!!!! R

    Ship Sinks

Paul, You could say you reversed in to a piece of that wood and claim on their insurance

    Sunday Mk2

Adam - OOTB is looking a little high at the bow, lack of ballast? From that I assume this was the day you forgot you giant plotter!!!
  14. Charlie, I wasn't much use, either drunk or hungover! Rob
  15. No Charlie he is a PO who has just made Chief. As for the fuel, you know how those guys exaggerate! Rob
  16. Charlie, I was informed it was 6.5 tons per hour when running on the Olly's a full blast. The Tynes are supposed to be much more efficient for cruising. BTW I did have a chance of steering it! Not as responsive as JoJo!! I also got to sit in the Navigator seat in the Lynx, took control when in forward motion, I guess you have to practice before hovering! Seriously fun when going vertical then free falling back on it's self, got that weightless feeling for a bit - amazing! Got some great video of our flyby's at full wack. Must have passed the ship a dozen times during our trip, it was the last one of the day and the pilot gave it some! My brother-in-law asked him to try and make me sick - not a chance! Rob
  17. I had mentioned to a few of you that I was spending a week on HMS Southampton with my Brother-In-Law, sailing from Gibraltar to Portsmouth in early December. 4500 tonnes with 50,000hp doing 30knots is pretty impressive! I have put a few pics in my PBSBAC photoalbum: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/photoalbum/thumbnails.php?album=110 Cheers Rob
  18. Happy Birthday Gordon. Rob
  19. Charlie, Thanks foe the info. re. anchor, but mine was safetly retrieved. Rob
  20. Andrew, There is so much info on this site. In the search facility I performed a search for "float", selected "titles only", "all froums" and "any date". Here it is : http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?s...c=4556&hl=float Rob
  21. Sounds like you have a bad earth. Perhps on the battery or Starter Motor. Take off the large connections on both, clean (with wet and dry paper if corroded or wire brush). Grease and then replace. Rob
  22. Well we went out yesterday. Got out about lunchtime and the Harbour was like a mill pond, and so was out side the harbour. Too good to be true I thought. It was my first trial of the plotter I won in the Open, the maps arrived in the morning which was good timing! How did I manage without one before, superb! We blasted to Swanage in no time and the moment we dropped the hook did the wind pick up and sea chop. Managed a few dogs and some Pout - one really nice one kept for tea. Headed in at 4 just as the light was fading. Nice to be out, the home made cuddy is heavenly! Rob
  23. I am thinking of heading out tomorrow from Poole, due to tide a XChurch. Does anyone have any ideas for marks for cod, or even a late bass? Otherwise some small conger would be fun, having caught my first last Sunday! Thanks Rob
  24. Hi Andrew, Remember trailering means trailer maintenance. Brakes will be needed if the trailer gross weight is more than 750kg. If you can get away with a lighter craft below the 750kg and your towing vehicle is capable you can reduce the maintenance time and \ or cost. Your in the right place if you have questions you want answered, I'm sure the guys here will help you out. Rob
  25. I have just seen a review in "Sports Boat and Rib" Magazine about a product called a super soaker. You drop it in your tank attached to a cord, it soaks up only water not fuel etc then retrieve with cord! No use to me with my outboard but I thought it may be good for other members. I thought
