Not a catch report as such so putting it in the lounge section! Yesterday I headed to Mudeford for 8:30 as this was low tide, 0.6 I think. Knew we would have a wait, but got time to get boat ready and beat the rush. Took a non angling friend as we were meeting both our families at the beach where we have access to a beach hut. We were 3td at the slip, 2 jetskis were even more keen!!! We launched first in to 9" water, just enough to float, but use the car to pull the trailer from under JoJo no worries. By the time I had parked, Locked up trailer had a coffee, we had just enough water to float out. Jetskis were still struggling/waiting, I guess they don't want to suck the mud and gravel up! We pottered out to the run. Were we found plenty of water over the bar (for us). And off, we headed to coastguard hut for macs, then the outlets and still none! My crew (little Nick) managed a couple, I got a gar that tried to tangle my feathers, but a good shake and it in rolled, unhooked and dropped back in, result! Time to head to the beach just after 10 as the kids, wives, nicks extended family (about 20 in total) were there and setup. We got nice and close in, well, close enough that the do-nut could be used as a tender on a rope! I think that's 60' tow rope and we have 3.5ft under us. We ferried some kids out to JoJo (including a plate of bacon baps!!!) To take them for a ride. It was a bit choppy for the kids to stay in the tube long, but they enjoyed it all the same. I did a couple of feathering trips out with a few peeps, I managed a couple and various gurnard were landed. Great time was had by me and the kids. What I did note, is that without the rope ladder on the stern side cleat, JoJo is a pain to climb back on to. I tried climbing on the OB and pulling myself up (there was a bit of a swell pushing on to the beach) but there is not a lot to hold on to - could do with a handle on top of the cowling!!! I was a little concerned about getting my trailer out when arriving back at Mudeford. Luckily I had placed it close to the high water mark and only one small trailer had to be dragged to the side for retrieval. But with the water highat just after 5, there was no room to turn the car around on the beach. However, all was good, managed to complete retrieval with trailer hooked to the car which is always easier. Someone offers if I wanted a hand (as I had left nick at the beach and livvy was my only help). Nice offer but as per most of us trailer sailors, we have our own way and I have done this more times that I can remember. Anyway by the time this guy had unlocked his trailer we were driving up the slip to go find a quiet spot to tie down. Super day / weather and some macs for lunch today, result. And to ensure all the buoyancy aids are clean, dry and ok to pack away for another year!!!

I am enjoying my 6th year of the same sealed bearings! AJ said he had them so I was ensured to get them for mine. So far so good! R

do you mean Ambrow? if not give them a try. R

Pete, my tracker can alert on a regular basis or be left to only alert if i call it. or if it moves 200m from where i left it, if if set it to do that - commands are sent via txt message. Just ordered myself an ASDA sim for it as they seem to be one of the only PAYG sims that don't require a monthly \ regular top up - so £5 should last me a year or 2! Rob

Pete, on testing it appeared to use 0.03 amps and when a call comes it to it and it replies it spikes to 0.05 amps. So 120hr leisure battery should be half drained (reasonable amount) in c.80 days. R

Pete, I haev one of these for JoJo, peace of mind when she is on a mooring: https://www.amazon.co.uk/XCSOURCE-GPS303-H-Anti-theft-Motorcycle-MA1014/dp/B01N0K7R0M I use the SMS GPS trackign function. However, it also will alert in the internal battery gets low - which would be a consequence of the 12v power source is failing. Also, there is an option for door open triggers - i am sure this coudd be used to monitor water level via a float switch , your existing switches. Power drain coudl be offset via a solar panel? I need to power mine up to ensure sim stays active - i shall measure the power drain. Food for thought perhaps? R

Not club rule but MMO\government. Brian, i thought you could target in the nursery, just not keep from boat (shore could keep) during the summer months whatever the dates were (when we could keep in the past but not now). R

Welcome Matt. Permit only for Xchurch harbour as that falls under Ringwood Angling Club now I believe. Your boat is ideal for Kimmeridge. But be mindful of any SW swell as that makes the slip dangerous. R

Huge difference apparently, the barbless can come out then create a new hook hold/hole. I for one, like a barb and the carp boys are so nuts about what they do, I'll take their word for it. R
-
Interesting you mention barbless Jim. I believe that many carp fisheries are banning them in favour of micro-barbed. Reason being, the barless move about during the fight and can create a large hole in the fishes mouth. Where as the micro-barbed hooks don't shift about and are best allround. R

Ah yes, the Gimp, great free tool! Great pics kev whatever, making memories!! R

As bass are a sport fish, we like to fish for and release. Why would we not hold this comp? Does this not go against any argument we might want to pose for 'protect bass they are not just a source of food but a sport fish we care for'? We may as well say, open the flood gates and let us go slaughter them! Rob

Indeee in very rough water/conditions, not the conditions of choose for a trial / testing for reliability! Too gung-ho for my liking!!! Stay safe, R

Windows or not, you shouldn't be taking onboard water over the bow on the ledge. I have no windows and balanced throttle and boat speed to match the sea is key. But as others have said, maybe the screen has been replaced with thinner material. R

Blimey Jim, giving your Tiddler a right good work out this year, who should have thought!?!?! Might get mine wet soon too! Rob

Nice report thanks. Looks like IOM has potential, I wonder how much it costs to take a trailer on the ferry!?!?! R

If you are recording in 4K you will struggle to edit videos in a timely fashion. 4k and the quality of the lenses on these things is not worth it. Just a marketing thing. 1080 is probably too much also. Just uses more space. 720 should be more than good enough. Better off to have a good lense on 720 than a poor lens with 4k. R

Look at the SJCAM 4000 \ 5000 - a go pro copy and quarter of the cost. they are so good, there are fake ones on the market, so ensure you get from a good seller from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/SJCAM-Multi-function-Waterproof-Camcorder-wide-angle/dp/B01HXQ70K6 plus, outside the case, they fit the generic go-pro mounts. havign a screen and wifi streaming is good too - mine hasnt missed a beat.
