I have had problems with 3 in the past they do not let you move your sim card into another phone I had a Nokia N90, too fussy to get mackeral scales in, and put my sim card in an old phone they sent me threatening messages ststing they would disconnest me if i did not return sim card to their phone on the second time i did this they disconnected me and made me promise not to do this again, they were not interested in the fact that i was paying them for the service and wanted to use it any way i wanted. they stated i must only use a 3 phone I bought my way out of the contract and would never go back 10 months after i paid to leave the contract I got a bill and 10 days later a debt collectors letter, despite statements that i had paid full and final settlement they wanted to pursue this through the courts. i reluctantly paid.. My advice is avoid 3 like the plague, they are ok for teenagers but if you want to change your sim card into an old phone to use on the boat they will get spiteful Use vodafone it works well here and they are more flexible Tony Deavin

Clive In order to get through water speed you will have to have the paddle wheel (if you were provided with one) connected to the GPS otherwise you wil only get speed across water Tony
-
Connect the GPS to the radio and leave both on when you park otherwise radio will ring again and again and again!!! much safer as only needs one button to push if you get into danger Tony

Mark Check the positive terminal connection , you may find that you have lots of green powder and need a new cable This side does seeem to corrode badly and always starts with an inability to transmit full power before breaking completely. Tony

I use a 7.5 Kilo Bruce anchor with 30 feet of 8mm chain and 160m of 14ml multiplait. This is effective and nice for the crew to haul in. Tony

Welcome to the club Ian There is a family day planned for August 16th to allow the ladies to realise how lucky they are to own a boat and be able to meet other like minded couples for a relaxing day enhanced by fine wines and exotic foods ( brought by yourselves of course) We will probably meet at Goathorn Point in Poole Harbour around 11am. If the venue changes due to weather I will post here or be on the radio that morning on Channel 6 Tony Deavin Club Secretary

Serenity went out at 7:30am with myself and Paul Dore and made a leisurely journey to just off Dancing Ledge, and joined the car park Paul made a rapid start with a Garfish and Dogfish within minutes of arriving. Everything slowed down then and nothing happened for a couple of hours. Suddenly my rod bent over and i landed a bream of 2lb 14 oz. Withe no further action for over an hour we got bored and made our way to Ballad and met Whistler, Peter Russell informed us that it had been fishing well until just before we arrived. It was very quiet for about another hour and suddenly bream started coming in reasonable numbers, if not very large, and we had a good couple of hours fun before coming home. Tony Deavin

Many thanks Alan and Charlie I closely inspected all sides of the engine for the oil change pump and could not find any pipe coming from beneath the engine or a pump so have concluded that it does not exist on this engine. I decided to change the oil on Sunday and took boat and wife out to warm the engine. We met some friends in the harbour and i changed the engine lubricant and Lorraine took on more lubricant with her friend. Charlie I would welcome a look at Dan's project just to reassure myself that all has gone well. (I have been changing bike and car engine oil for 35 years) but you never know. The boat did run ok and got us back to Rockley which I took as a good sign Tony

Dear All This is a question for the technical experts. I need some advice on changing the oil on my Merry Fisher diesel engine. I was expecting to use a hand pump and plastic tube to pump the oil out by hand. However the technical data sheet for the Nanni 4.340 states there is an oil drain pump. Is this oil drain pump an aid to changing the engine oil ??/ or part of the engine operating system.??? If it does help change the engine oil where is it?? and how do you use it.? I have googled this but only get the info on Nanni engines. Can any one help. Thanking you in anticipation Tony

I use Corrals as well as they are 24 hour. They did take some chasing to get the acount set up and I spoke to their office 3 times before the card arrived. I got my latest bill and they are charging 94p per litre on the 60/40 split Tony
