I have to go to Norway for business a couple of times a year The guys I see over there are mad keen fishermen like most of their countrymen as well as knowledgable boat owners. The best time to go to Norway is end of March into April so they tell me. You need to go a fair way North to get the BIG cod! Beer IS exspensive as is most things there. If you want to do it, there are a couple of ways to get there: 1 drive up north to Newcastle and catch the ferry 2 Fly on Ryanair to Torsk and hire a car, long drive 3 Fly to Oslo catch another flight up north hire car there Coddy

Well done to all I have just read a review of the club's web site at Fishing Fan It is the latest review and has a picture of the club's logo on the front page. It rates the site very highly. Again well done to all who make it happen as I know the amount of time it takes to keep these this going well. Coddy

Adam As previously mentioned, unfortuately I will be away at another friendly comp on the other side of the IOW. It will be interesting to see how each side of the Island fishes on the same day if there is any differance at all. I would like to wish everyone good luck and may the weather gods hold out a smiling hand to us all. Coddy

Hi Bob Reading my Navman manual if you request an LL request it should show the position of your "buddy" if he/she acknowledges the call on your screen. Now if there are a number of boats out and you send a LL request you may get back a number of differant differant locations so it may well be better to use talking to find out what you need. You can set up the set to send an acknowledment automatically to LL calls. A group call, as you say, only seems to set the chatting channel. If it was a comp you have only need to send an Individual message to GW or an other boat to register you are out. Coddy

The reason I bought polyprop was that I got it very very cheap for 200mtrs. I have no problem in splicing it and have done so many times, have to say my splicing is not the best as I don't get the practice. The diam of my warp is 14mm which is a bit too large for my Warrior but as for strength I have not had a problem to date. I always fit a swivel shackle between the chain and the warp which has a metal eye spliced in. I would never use any rope direct to chain or metal! I also would never tie a knot in any rope as this is a weak point. I have not had any problem in coiling the rope but then again I do use a cut down water barrel to hold the rope. As I said previously it has it limitations in length of life etc. but if you look after it and carry out regular checks I feel confident in its use at this time. I agree that if I was buying again I would get nylon but 12mm as I think 10mm is too small to handle well. I also agree that nylon is softer to use. Coddy

All sounds very interesting, seems I missed the thread before as I must have been away. The standard safety margin for fuel is there and back and out there again. This allows you enough fuel should the sea state turns so that you can not get up on the plane which consumes more fuel. On average my 60hp 4 stroke consumes 5galls (22.5ltrs) every 20+ miles I would therefore suggest the minimum amout to take would be x 3 22.5ltrs tanks. Kam would be right to have a little extra in reserve. Can anyone get cheap petrol? Coddy

Welcome to the forum Hope the trip to the Shetlands goes well Look forward to hearing how you got on. Coddy

Hi Jack Can not recall the name of the site but it is close to Wareham and the river. Bit of a treck down stream to Poole harbour but would make a great summer evenings cruise with a can/bottle of your favourate tipple and drift a line/float in the water. The rest use your imagination If you facncy a longer trip I can recommend Felixstowe in Suffolk. Coddy

Hi Bob I would give such a new development a miss for a while until all the bugs have been sorted out and the main reason the price drops to a more realistic level. Like anything in the PC world, the software is only as good as the programing, just ask Mr.Gates Let the yanks spend their money and test out the software first. Coddy

Hi Paul Did you manage to get anywhere with an interactive fishing map? Coddy

Hi all I am sorry to go against the tide of thought, so to speak, but I use poly prop which has never given me any cause of concirn. I accept that it floats and that when swinging I have to keep an eye on it just in case, but as you rarely float directly over the anchor warp when the tide turns it is not a problem. I accept that at the time money was and still isn't in abundance so it seemed a good alternitive to me. Yes I have lost an achor, chain and a length of warp! I think it is horses for courses, if you accept the need to keep an eye on the condition of the warp and make sure you always know which direction the warp is lying, which you should do with any rope, I do not see a problem for the amount of use the rope gets. Hi Terry Well done in getting a quality boat I changed the name on mine ............... maybe that's why I am not catching any fish! On the other hand it maybe that I have not been able to get out to go fishing! I am sure if you want to know anything Adam or I or any club member with a Warrior will assist. What colour is it? I will keep a look out for you next week-end. Have fun with the new toy and may you get some memerable fish on board. Coddy

Hi Terry The problem in answering the question is how fast are you going and what is the sea state. To give you an idea my 60 4stroke gives me about 20+ miles range on one tank at about a crusing speed of 20kts (4500 -5000 rpm) with a bit of small speed trolling/finding the best location to drop anchor. If heading into to a short chop and not wanting to slam the boat and get wet the hull never gets on the plane so the fuel consumption goes down to about 12 to 15 mile range. I have kept a record of the the boats fuel usage and distance travelled for each trip and it works out about 0.9ltrs per mile. The 2 stroke will be a bit thirstier but I am sure Lookfar will advise you as he has this set up on his 165. There seems to be plenty of Warriors on the market at the moment, remember that the Mk2 Warrior came out in 2001 which has rounded edges to the cuddy and gunnels. If you want to have a look at mine or a trip out give me a shout. Coddy

I see you are getting to the bottom of these jokes but I expect it is an uplifting experiance! Coddy

I have x3 22ltr tanks but I know you can get a larger plastic tank that fills the drain well in the back. I think it holds about 11 galls. I am not aware of any 165 with integral tanks as the floor is sealed. Coddy

Hi Bob As you may be aware I use C-Map and I have a PC NT Planner. I am more than happy with the colours on the PC, my plotter is Grayscale so I don't notice the differance. It provides the depth lines which I prefer to colours which if you are colour blind don't help! You are more than welcome to come over to have a look if you want to compare. Coddy

Sounds like you are after dog fish! Woof Woof Coddy

Hi Mark I check my trailer every 6 months. Pump a bit of grease in the bearings every 3 months unless I am going on a long drive. Earlier you look at it the less damage and reduced costs. Coddy
