    Aux Engine

Paul There should be a friction grip screw on the twist grip somewhere. If you tighten this it will stop the throttle returning back to tick over. Alternative is to purchase a tiller extension arm which allows you to stand in the middle or in a better position in the boat. Coddy

    Aux Engine

Hi Dan The biggest problem is the stength of the tide at the time. 4hp may be ok to head you home or even get you out of danger but it really depends on the engine. A Seagull Silver Centuary will produce about 4 to 5hp but some have large high thrust props which may be what you need. Weight of the boat is a consideration. A lightweight 4hp may not be powerful enough, not sure I would trust my 4hp aux coming in Poole entrance against the tide near the chain ferry! Best bet is to try someones engine on your bracket and see how it performs. Good luck Coddy

    Scales

Just a point about digital scales Have you tried using a set on a moving boat? They do not give a true reading, in fact I have found they can be way out! Best is the spring balance type Coddy

    Keel Band - #4

Hi Adam Been thinking about the same for Sammy, will be interested to see how you get on. Are you going the full length and width? Did think about a stainless steel plate that is available shaped for Warrior hulls and other boats for the area near the drain plug which I think is a vunerable area. If you need a hand give me a shout and if I am around I would be happy to help you. Coddy

    Fly Fishing Spots

Hi Dan I think it will be fresh water, I was thinking of a nice trout or similar but I am again dreaming I think salmon may be a tad expensive if in season. My object is to learn to fly cast and if lucky catch a fish. Coddy

    Fly Fishing Spots

Hi all A friend is coming down in a couple of weeks and offered to take me fly fishing for the first time. What I need to know is where to go? Can anyone advise and what does it cost? Any help would be welcomed. Thanks Coddy
  12. Hi Alan Well done on getting out. Fished the Swash last week, first time for me. Found that the tide was not too fast but others boat wash is a problem We tried the chain ferry end but nothing not even a nibble but the last two poles we had one placie and a number of knocks Drift speed according to the GPS was about 1/2knt seemed best. At one time we did not seem to move, however there is something close to the last pole (tide marker I think) which grabed and kept 2 lots of complete tackle! so take care. Was not too sure of depth going over the rocks? so got close but did not cross. Hope this helps Coddy
  13. Happy Birthday Adam May all you wishes happen tonight If you can remember anything in the morning you didn't have enough of whatever it takes! Have a good one mate Coddy

  15. Hi As new to the area in both fishing and living, it sounds a great idea. In fact some of the marks in the Solent, West side and South side were given by me to the site as I got them out of an old fishing book and are well know to the locals. It is then down to the skill (?) luck of the person to catch a fish Any help I can get to start with would be great, I understand certain GPS numbers are a closely guarded secret. Regards Coddy

    Deck Coverings?

Adam You have seen my Warrior, I have the plastic block mat. Works great as non slip for bits and pieces plus humans, easy to lift for cleaning, if you drop anything it stays in one of the holes to be picked up. Pop round for a look see if you want, not sure where to get some as it came with the boat. Coddy
  18. Hi Adam I get the same sometimes on my set. Traced it down to the GPS, not plotter. Moved the power leads away as much as I could, if really bad might need a bit of shielding, could try some kitchen foil around the cable that is causing the probem, I think it will need earthing. Did not have to do it on my boat however just re-routed cables a bit. Regards Coddy
  19. Bob Don't use a CB model as it will damage the set or antenna! They have differant loads and frequencies Dave
  20. Hi Bob Takes me back to CB days when everyone was desperate to get the most gain out of a set up to see how far you could transmit. SWR meter at the ready and checking when needed for the optimum strength. I did see a bit in a mag once about making an SWR meter with a dummy load so testing outputs could be checked for marine VHF sets. Moden VHF marine antenna's are pre-set so unable to do much about it so I am told. Coddy
  21. Hi Charlie Many thanks for the offer, would love to take you up on it. Always willing to drown a worm or two for a good cause and would love to see what this "Magnet" ground bait is like. I need a "fishing" freezer as the FPO is complaining (again) that she does NOT like bait in the food freezer as it smells! Coddy
  22. Hi Bob If you want, I can supply you the marks back in to Poole. What is Betsy Anna? A wreck obviously but is it something special i.e. container ship, WW2 ship etc? As I expect you saw all I got from the spoils was pout Perhaps you can point me to some marks and tactics sometime. Regards Coddy

    On this day

Hi Better get off to the Shambles with some old "trainers" to help catch a fish or two. Trainers, get it? Fishing its socks off? Well it is late on a Bank Holiday Monday night Coddy
  24. Hi Paul Thanks again, I won those steps on Ebay for
  25. Hi Charlie Better add the pout as knowing my luck it will be the only one I catch this year Interesting water further out on Sunday, calm but with a large swell every now and then. Not knowing where to go I followed the main body of boats which seemed to work on this occasion unless I wanted to go to Studland bay and drink my G&T then race back in before it gets dark. Why is it that everyone goes flat out when there are so many boats drifting or at anchor creating one hell of a wash? Bet if I went past when they were drinking their G&T's they would soon start shouting! Coddy
