  13. Wow! I'm knackered just reading it. She must be your pride and joy.
  14. Charlie Sounds like a plan. Not sure when though. This weekend is fully booked already and so is next week end. What about dropping by the boat on Monday evening? I will be at Salterns from 5pm to 6pm, so I could drop by afterwards (and then onto Corky??). BF
  15. ...sorry Gordon, I can't give you a sensible reply at the moment. I'm still in stiches over Paul's little jibe.
  16. If none of the above things work, make sure you are actually using the center core of the garmin cable, and not the shield as the signal conductor. The Garmin cables are notoriously thin, and it's easy to mistake the shield for the center core. This is what I found when another member was having a problem with their set up. Or check that the shield is not shorting to the center core. But the most common problem is incorrect settings for the NMEA on the garmin unit or on the VHF. BF
  17. Gordon, A tip that Paul D suggested for helping to stop the brake pads falling off... Most of us reverse the trailer into its parking spot at home, and back it upto the chocks so you don't need to put the handbrake on. The thinking being that leaving the handbrake off will stop the brake pad binding on (and then snapping off a week or so later when you next take the boat out). However, apparently, reserving the trailer straight onto the chocks will still mean that the pads are slightly on (because off the anti-reverse mechanism I think). So the tip is to reverse into the parking position and then move the trailer forward slightly to release the pads fully. Then put the chocks behnd the wheels and leave the handbrake off. The other main reason for loosing your brake shoes is thought to be putting the trailer into water whilst the brakes are still hot. Indespension recommend that you wait 20 mins before putting the trailer into water. Teaching to suck eggs again.
  18. Chris/Gordon, If you have no luck I will be in Salterns on Monday evening and could drop by Hamworthy on my way home to Blandford to have a look. It will probably be sometime between 6 and 8pm. Let me know. Bob F

  25. Our Volvo D3 190hp is going to need a water separator in the fuel supply. Racor seem to be the make with the best reputation. I've been looking through the ASAP catalog. A few questions: - is the Racor 500 Turbine family the right one for this engine (I will of course check with Volvo)? - see through bowl or metal bowl? I've seen a note which says see through bowls are not suitable for inboard engines...why? - I'm thinking model number 301503 with the metal bowl. - what does UL-Listed mean? cheers BF
