    Friday 5/11

The cod will be better tomorrow!!!
  4. They'll be plenty of fireworks on the beach, BB. Dave, my mates chose Bexington because of the access. They want to be able to keep an eye on their car because they are staying all night. Last year at Abbotsbury they had the rear window smashed in and lost some gear. I've not fished from Bexington, so thought I'd give it a go. Got a couple of new rods arriving this week, so wanted to give one of them a fling. Bob F
  5. I'm planning a shore trip to West Bexington this Friday evening with a couple of mates. Anyone else what to join us? Plan is to fish from 4pm (ish). I will be packing up around midnight but the other two will be staying all night. Low water is 16:00. High water 23:00. cheers Bob F.

  11. Hell of a pollack from close in, Paul.
  12. Used to luv watching Jacks' series. Missed the one about light lines in a swimming pool, though. Gunna give the Pick wire a go. Cheers BB Bob F.
  13. The broken purple wriggly lines are disused submarine cables, but still capable of snagging an anchor, of course. Bob F.
  14. Any thoughts on why so many conger were showing on Sunday??? Bob F.
  15. Yes, the # means a foul area or the remains of a wreck, no longer dangerous to surface navigation, but to be avoided by vessels anchoring, trawling, etc. The wriggly purple lines are submarine power cables. Always assume they are NOT buried. The charts don't distinguish between buried and non-buried. I guess there wouldn't be much point in putting them on the chart if there were buried. Bob F
  16. Gotta laugh...
  17. Splash-Out is still undergoing repairs, so she will not be out on Sunday. I think I will give the fishing a miss on Sunday and crack on with the repairs. Bob F.
  18. An interesting insight, Mike. Just goes to show how lucky we are. Thanks for the feedback. Keep my stuff for next year. cheers Bob F.

    Tara for sale

Just sell the name, James. Tara evokes visions of big conger and big bass. That'll sell well.
  20. Brilliant NEWS!!!! I hope this is official. Weldone James. Wonderful stuff!! It'll be nice to have someone else in the club with a DF70.

  23. Good luck tomorrow Jimbob. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for ya!! Bob F
  24. My views... I'm not in favour of counting mini species. Just like Charlie, it would take the fun out of the competition if I had to scratch around for small fish just to stay competitive. I'd probably loose interest in the comps. I would be in favour of including the various rays, wrasse and mullet as different species. As a "fishing" club we ought to encourage our members to be able to identify the different species. Even if a member miss-identifies a ray they should be able to tell that it was a different species to the others they have caught on the day. This would also give guys that are restricted to the harbour or close inshore waters a better chance of adding more species and therefore being more competitive with the bigger boats. Personally, I find the species comps very hard work because of the amount of moving about you have to do to stay competitive. If we included the different rays, wrasses and mullet, we would at least have the option of staying put for longer in the hope of getting a different ray or wrasse, or taking the chance of moving to other grounds for completely different species. It would be your judgement call. Bob F.

    anchor

If you look at the posts in the Boat Talk section you will see an earlier post which gives a lot of details on the type of anchor and length of rope and chain to use. Enjoy. Bob F.
