    Needles Cod 2

    From the album: Manta Ray

  2. Hi Lads, I am taking Manta Ray down to the Shambles for a 2 day trip Friday 8 March And Saturday 9th. We were going Saturday and Sunday but the weather is pants on Sunday so have brought it forward a day... Due to this two of our original crew have got prior commitments... so 2 places up for grabs if anyone's interested. Leaving early Saturday from Lymington..Phone 07966051421 or email me. Tomo
  3. Whats one of them? Tomo
  4. Rob, my mistake,,, was given bum information by members on the day...... Tomo
  5. Well, at last the weather gods shone and our trip on Manta Ray got under way on Saturday from Lymington. The split of crew was 4 members and their friends. Weather was calm but a horrible damp day..... If only one of the club members had rubbed their lucky seaweed, we would now have a new club record for cod,,,,,,, Quite a few conger put in an appearance, loads of jumbo pout and numerous whiting up to 3 lb...Oh and 6 cod to 30 lb 8 oz.. with at least 6 cod dropped on the way up..... A great days fishing, but alas the 2 club members who caught cod fished on the wrong side of the boat....the side where the smaller cod were...so alas no new club record. A great day had by all and the banter was great....Thanks all for making it a fruit full trip....another trip is on for next weekend, weather permitting. Tomo

I'm out with Manta Ray on Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th Jan, after the elusive Mr Cod and have 3 spaces available for crew if anyone fancies a crack .. PM me or phone if interested. Fingers Crossed...... Tomo

  10. Hi Lads, I'm looking to do a trip for Mr Cod soon around the Needles and thought it would be good for the crack, so all members are welcome to come for a trip.... This will be a pleasure trip...not a charter...so all fish count. We might be able to break the club record as there are a lot of 25 / 30 lb fish being caught at present. PM me or phone 07966 051421.....5 places available, date to be agreed subject to weather Tomo

  12. Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist! (true story)... Scientists at Rolls Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners and military jets, all travelling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate bird strikes -- the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl -- in order to test the strength of the windshields. American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the Windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the American engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin like an arrow shot from a bow.. The horrified Yanks sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo: "Defrost the chicken." 17. We got out on a cracking calm day on Manta Ray, the conditions started with a slight swell but it flattened off as the day progressed...Lots of eels... 56 lb being the best ....loads of whiting and a few cod to about 16 lb.... Tried for Mr Spikey...on the Bridge at dusk, fishing live pout....but he didn't want to play... All in all a cracking day afloat, considering the weather conditions 12 hrs before... Great crack and great crew. Tomo
  18. Manta Ray is out......trying to use up all the squid and cuttle bought for the British Cod Championships ....which alas was abandoned.... Tomo
