Beware.........I only got 0.9 ft under the prop over the last set of buoys leaving the run with a high pressure weather front on neap high tides last week...Which meant 2.6" of actual water depth....
but the depth is far better as you exit the run...but very tight for space on the first buoy before you turn to go out to sea...going to get very tight in the busy season...already had to wait a couple of times as yachts try to Sail Out of the run!

I have hydraulic trim tabs fitted to my Pirate 21 and they are a god send to cope with diffrent loads and variable sea conditions...needs a bit of use to learn how to get the best out of them.
Wouldn't be without them now...

Hi Lads,
There is a company in Kent that sells them secdond hand...they are out of pubs and resteraunts that have a refurbishment....nothing wrong with them...but well cheap...I will find the address and post it on the forum.

Hi Lads.
Icey tek sell a drop in tray that will suspend above the melted ice....maybe this is the answer... the tray is designed to keep your frozen an dead bait fresh...
Tomo
Hi Paul,
I have the Ice tek box and also have an ice machine...so if you want some ,I know you'r local in Christchurch, just give us a nod and you can come and collect a bucket full as and when required.
Regards Tomo
Hi Adam.............Ive got one of these boxes with the seat cushion supplied, it makes a great additional seat...and have adapted it to also be a live bait well. By srewing in a inlet to the bottom fixing on one side and an outlet on the other, only stepping up the outlet pipe diameter and the water pressure does the rest...
I have kept 4 boxes frozen squid in there for 3 days with two bags of ice and upon my return I put both the remainder of the frozen squid and the bags of ice back in the freezer...A cracking bit of kit...

I use Power Pro... In red ...(which is a new colour avilable in the US) on all my reels 10,15 and 30lb except my spinning reels and like PJ I use Fireline which as he says is a lot stiffer than Power pro.

I have just bought a specialised trailer from Stateside Marine for my 15 ft punt.....what a great bit of kit...as you say a very helpfull bunch of guys....and the trailers are very competitively priced......You can have what you want where you want..they are all imported from the states...but they keep a very comperehensive stock and can make a trailer in a couple of days.....I've just orderd another customized trailer for my Pirate 21....twin axels.....hydraulic disc brakes and integral sealed LED trailer lights......No more trailer boards.!!!!! I believe they are the first UK company to introduce these with full CE approval for the UK roads....well worth a call if your after a new trailer.

I have recentley plotted the new mini channel and th Bar and with any sort of swell other than maybe 1 hr either side of high tide you have got no hope . I draw approx 3 ft to the prop.....2ft 6ins with engine trimmed....with aprrox 4ft 6 of water and a 3 ft swell......ouch.......not for the faint hearted...

OUR WONDERFULL RUN TO THE OPEN SEA SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE BY THE WEEK......................!
......HAVE BEEN TALKING TO A FEW BOAT OWNERS WITH MOORINGS AT TUCKTON AND WAS VERY INTERESTED TO HEAR THAT AN INCREASING NUMBER OF DISSATISFIED FISHING AND SAILING BOAT OWNERS HAVE REFUSED TO PAY WEST HANTS THEIR MOORING FEES DUE TO THE EVER INCEASING PROBLEM OF TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE RUN....
SHOULD BE INTERESTING IF ENOUGH BOAT OWNERS TOOK UP THE TASK!

Well lads,
I took all your advise on retun time and took my first trip out today...lots of mist this morning and buoys marking the channel, fished the ledge nothing but doggies......came back 3 hours before predicted low water....no buoys to be seen and OUCH!...new boat and now not so new prop..Stuck on the bar but I had 5 other boats for company.......Lesson learnt.
Got some great pics of the sunset though.

Hi Guys,
Just become a member and have got my boat moored at Tuckton...could anyone tell me the approximate depth at low water springs tides at the end of the run? Have heard so many diffrent opinions! My boat draws 2 ft but have been told not a lot of chance of getting in at the bottom of the tide.
