    Unsinkable

How the Navy sink the unsinkable ! About 19 minutes in. http://www.five.tv/shows/royal-navy-caribb...s/episode-3-284
  2. Gear change rod under the carbs ? On my 50hp Evinrude there is a stud in the upper leg with a nut under the spark plugs and possibly another stud and nut under the carbs.
  3. Only if its got a ring gear on the flywheel and its got the relevant bolt holes in the block to mount the starter motor. . Why do you want to electric start a 2.5hp outboard ? If its in good nick and running properly it should start when you look at it. . You could always try a cordless drill with a socket that fits the flywheel nut. .

  6. Quote: "The bad news is that the new bridge is only going to be a few centimeters higher than the existing bridge. When asked if it would have been better to make it at least a meter higher to enable the majority of motor vessels to get under without necessitating a bridge lift and having a conjested holding area, the answer was that it was built the same height to encourage pedestrians to cross easily from Hamworthy to Poole and therefore help to recuduce traffic congestion. On a more alarming note. When I asked how many boats they could safetly accommodate in the holding area the transportation guy said that on peak periods such as Bank Holidays they would consider having a booking system in order to limit the numbers." Is this progress? No, its just another planning fiasco and total waste of money encouraged by a corrupt and unbalanced system. The existing bridge was built to accomodate the colliers unloading at the Power Station Quay before Cobbs was ever thought of, in those days nothing moored in Holes Bay needed a bridge lift. There were no set times for Bridge Lifts it just used to open as and when a collier needed to arrive or depart the power station. Cobbs was allowed to develop into a multi million

  10. Unless you're dripping in cash ? Keep it on the trailer, much more versatile! and safer !! (I just look out of my lounge window to see if my boat is still there) How many times per year will you use it ? Compare cost of storage/mooriing fees to carpark/launch fees. How much boat fuel would you use to get to Xchurch Ledge or Kimmeridge from Poole ? BIG IF you get out 20 times per year @ 2k storage/mooring thats

  12. You could buy the John Dory and a 4x4 and still have some change for her indoors !
  13. Self draining flush deck ! and the hull is about as fuel efficient as you can get.

    Lyme

They should ban all destructive fishing within the 3 mile limit all around the UK. As a diver I've seen the damage done by trawls and dredges and Poole Bay is far worse than Lyme bay due to size and location. The seabed takes years to recover, it's not like a ploughed field !
  16. That means then after a couple of storms...it will get dumped in the Xchurch run / entrance..as it did last time.. as if we havn't got enough sand bars.. Tomo Longshore Drift. Thats why Poole built the new rock groynes at Branksome Chine to try and keep their sand as long as possible. ( Bournemouth just patch and pray) The Bournemouth Bath Chair Brigade think a Surf Reef will solve everything even Boscombe ?? Then there is the Venturi effect. When the Swash and Middle channels were widened and deepened the flow exiting Poole Harbour was increased by ? Increasing the flow, increases the suction (Venturi Effect) Hence the new groynes by the Haven Hotel and the loss of beach at Studland. When I was a lad the East LOOE used to run like the Swash on the ebb (Bass City) but since they widened the Swash Eastwards and removed the bit of Hooksands in front of the Haven Hotel it all goes straight out. I'm no expert just an observer
