  1. Took Bw with her new engine out today to 'run-her' in.... Read the book and it gives the same as Coddy suggests: 1st hour: Not more than 3500 rpm - vary throttle 2nd hour: Not more than 4500 rpm - vary throttle, and give full throttle 1 min in every 10 next 8 hours - full throttle for not more than 5 mins at a time. Did 3 hours today - but as I have never run a new engine in before what should I expect??? The run out to the spoil grounds took 1 hour at 6 knots, I then tried to increase to 4500 rpm, but 4000 was max, after a while it seemed to loosen a little and 4500 was possible. Coming in we managed 5000 and about 20/21 knots, but this took a while to reach. The 'hole shot' to get up onto the plane seemd very slow also? Coddy gets 26 knost from the same boat and engine??? Do engines take a while to loosen up? Is this normal? Could I have too big a prop?
  2. Rich, Spool of 30lb braid, and a pack of Stormies. Cheers Matey!

  4. Perfect!!!....I must get hunting, although from looking at the link, it seems they only come with the pump, not as a seperate clip?

Interesting! - I must admit I didnt know the hull looked like that from the rear, and that the seahog and the 160 were the same thing. I would be interested to see hoe they perform at sea compared to the Warrior -esque boats - I cant fault mine - from high speed in flat calm to slower in lumpy seas it is stable and smooth.
  6. BW is back on the drive tonight after a short 3 hour operation - she now has new shoes!!!....and what spankers they are to!.. 60hp of gleaming EFI, 4 stroke wonder!! Bit late to post a piccie, so will do 2moro. Off out of Poole tomorrow to run the engine in, and do a bit if fishing with Jimbo!! The only hard bit was handing Tony the cheque - I just closed my eyes! ....

HISTORY LESSON!!! The original mould was for a 'Delmar' these were the original 'Warrior' type boats. From these then came the Predator and Warrior (not sure what order) then later the Explorer Elite and lastly the Endeavour...pheww! Some of the moulds look very similar others not so, but the underwater section remains the same. Adam
  8. Good to have you back ol' mate!!! Blew the cobwebs away did it!! Better leave you to it - expect youve got bout 30 pages of threads to read!
  9. Alan, I cant find a side bracket anywhere!! Did you have to order it?? I was thinking of a smaller type bracket where the small base which is fairly flush stays on the transom (and is out of harms way as it only protrudes 1/4") and the main bracket stays on the pump clipping to the bracket when needed. Similar to the way my compass fits on....but havent found this type of clip yet!!

DIY seems the way to go then?.... The tinted stuff IMO is far better than clear. It gives UV protection to gear inside the boat, makes driving on bright days easy and makes the overall look of the boat far better - and as you say, if from Warrior it would be tinted anyhow. The largest sheet is 3000 x 2000mm. This was
  12. Thanks Alan - good idea. Where did you get the side mounting bracket for the pump from? Is it worth getting one - or would you fabricate something? Will your pump therefore be perminantly attached to the boat? at the moment mine just dangles over the side!
  13. Definate Date: Sunday 3rd Oct, weather dependant,...so start praying!!

Glad you got your plotter Alan - Youll be well pleased with the 182C. I had a look at the smaller colour unit and wasnt really impressed - the extra money is worth spending. Ref windows. Ziplex has sent me a sample of some 5mm solar bronze perspex - it is the nutts, and is better than the Warrior stuff IMHO. A sheet 2050 x 1520 is

  17. OK send it over!! One thing that has got me thinking: Tony said that the engines come with a tachometer but nowt else? The Mariner book I got from the show says they come with: Fuel tank, control box, tacho, trim gauge.???? any ideas? Ill have a look on ebay for an engine meter - are they easy to fit?

    cheap reels

...it is, but beware! make sure you know what you what, and what price you should pay for it, their are many bargins to be had on ebay, but also a lot of rip offs - have a look every now and then you get a bargin, but to be on the safe side your local tackle shop will also have decent offers.

Duncan, Good for you matey! - A good plan I think, and I think you will be over the moon with the Elite. Adam
  22. MMNNNNN!!! Ill be there! Looking forward to it! It would be really good if the club could support it as much as poss!
  23. Cheers Coddy! Yep - Ill let you know when it is fitted. It is a silver lining, and finishes off the boat really - a 60 is what I really wanted. Just trying to come to terms with the financial side of it though I intend to keep a log of the new engine, and also re-set the plotter to keep track of the hours and miles. The engine is not the bigfoot - just the std. I rekon on 26-28 knts with the 60? The 50 gave me 25 when I first got it, and then deteriorated as the engine wore. The extra 10 gee gees I think will make a differance. In answer to your comment - I have so much confidence in the 165's hull that I rarely need to back off, she just bashes through the waves - I do agree though, backing off gives a nice smooth ride! Not looking forward to running her in though, just want to give it full throttle!!!!
  24. Spot on! Very good Alan! Like the site also - has the beginings of a cracking page. Also - very impressed with the live well set-up! - As you know, havent had a chance to try mine proper yet - hope to soon. Like the washing up bowl idea - may get one meself!
  25. Like what?? Whiting, Cod??.... Oct it is then. This gives us sometime to organise it.
