  1. Hooray!!!!!!!! Finally I have my Warrior! Over the moon is an understatment! Went and picked her up this morning with the very kind help of Bob F, who followed me home - cheers Bob, I owe you one! She is now sat in my drive, worrying the neighbours!! I would just like to say a thank you to everyone in the club who has given advice or helped me in any way to buy her - I would never have bought such a boat had I not joined the club, and the expertise, advice and help I have been given has been fantastic! I look forward to an even better summer than I had last year on Tara (R.I.P! ) Cheers Adam
  2. Which reminds me: I bought some braid a few weeks ago on there. Same as PD - Ghost green. Ordered 20 and 25lb. The 25lb was as advertised - very impressed, subtle colour, thin - perfect. The 20lb however, dispite being advertised as the same, was completly different. It had a flat profile, not round, was quite think and a different colour. I have used it last weekend. It performs ok, but I wouldnt buy it again. Ada,
  3. Tues / Thurs??
  4. Plus P+P though??!!
  5. basically a boat rod with a quiver tip! I might bring my coarse rods!! I must admit to being sceptical about them - although I am assured they are the mutts. - We shall see! Bring it on - be nice to christen Blue Warrior with a nice fat plaice!!
  6. From a few posts on the forum ,it seems that Paul J + D and I all have either time to spare or time off next week. With the weekends becoming crammed, I fancy a mid week Plaice trip - anyone fancy it? My boat wont be ready until Thurs, so Im out as far as a boat is concerned. ?????????? Adam
  7. I am helping Bob write the species / tactics section on the main site, as doing one a month is an impossible task, even in the quiet spell we are having now. Plaice is my first target. So any decent photos, tips on how to catch them, where, when etc is all greatly appreaciated. Thanks Adam

    Big List!!!!!

What do we think of these http://www.allgadgets.co.uk/ag/product.asp...&pf%5Fid=AG3887 At under 30 quid each - they seem a bargin to me. But can you put a price on safety? Considering they will spend 99% of their life in a storgae locker?? Adam

    Aux Outboard

Hi Newboy, Welcome to the site. Very good question - which raises several points. This is the way I would see the situation. You have an 18' boat , a Shetland (fairly heavy design) so a small aux. say a 4hp, wont really be of much help - even on a 16' dingey they are only good for emergancies, and for aux. propulsion you wont get abpve 2/3 knots max, in slack tide. So to give any really assistance - youll probably need about 10hp - ideal as this is what you have. You mention a seagul. Great aux. engines, although any outboard doesnt like being laid down, and stored flat - so I would advise against this. The 10hp you already have is in great condition and as you know it, should be realiable (this counts for alot with engines) My own boat will raise the jockey wheel if I jump off the back whilst on the trailer, so dont be too alarmed - the real test will be to fit them and see how she sits in the water - swamping over the transom will be you biggest risk. If she sits fine - then in my opinion, whack the trusty 10hp on the back. Cant help with the model - Im afriad, Try a good search of the web. Hope this helps Adam
  13. anyone fancy a mid week trip??
  14. FULLER!!!!!!! last time we take his advice!!!
  15. Dont know? - Can you cast 2 miles??
  16. This is the sort of range I really fancy running out to given a good forecast. If we could get a handful of boats together for safety I see no reason why?? Who fancies it? Adam

    Hayling?

Mike: Yeah we went...but not to Hayling. Reports of a Plaice match on Friday where 200 anglers could just 2 Plaice put us off!! Went to Poole instead. See Catch Reports for a full run down. As for cock-ups....my engine dramas were about right for that!!!!! Adam

    Cobbs Quay

Hi, Who can give me the tel. no. for the Mariner service centre at Cobbs quay?? Need to book Blue Warrior in for a service ASAP. If not could anyone recommend anyone to service a Mariner 50hp 4 strk??? Adam
  23. As most of you will have gathered - the trail-a-way crew opted to fish Poole today as opposed to Hayling, as the fishing had been so poor. Good as chance at Poole as anywhere else? Great start for me - as after arriving an hour early - I couldnt start Tara. Being stubborn on her last trip with me!. So she went back on the trailer, and Martin very kindly offered me a place on Maverick - with Bob going on Pilchard, sorry - Loyal Royal ( ) for her maiden voyage. Paul D was on Neo with his son. We all started on the Swash grounds and I was off to a flyer with a 1lb Plaice banging away after only 10 mins - First cast, first fish!! Unfortunatly that was all we had all day! - We had another 2/3 bites but nothing materialised. I think that was the same for the rest of the PBSBAC foltila. LR headed out to search some wrecks with her new toys and found the obligatory Pout and Doggies, and Paul D stuck at it, but struggled like us. Anyway - 1st proper trip of the year - maybe a little early, but a good day none-the-less. Good company to boot! - Cheers guys. Adam
  24. Cod, We ended up fishing Poole after all that! - The Plaice fishing was reputed to be dire, so rather than waste petrol we went closer to home. We also found the ferry slip to be in a similar state, and had planned to use eastney. Hopefully we will replan and give it a go later in the year. Adam

Sounds like a good plan! - Either one of the club meetings (1st Thurs every month) or at our 1st Monthly points comp in April would be a good idea?? Can you make it? - Sun 18th April. Adam
