    Sea Bee

It was Coastal Rides that have the bad name with fitting them out, Cair Paravel who mould and invented the Aquafish pulled out of Coastal Rides in 2009, as they too had problems with them. Dennis - Ive sympathy for you, it's frustrating. However we dont have a production line boat and every A'fish built is unique and to a slightly different spec - I guess this makes ironing out little niggles tough! We had a few teething issues with the Volvo in JV. Hang in there you'll get it sorted and start to enjpoy her. PS: I had a sneaky peek today whilst I was down antifouling JV - SeeBee looks a cracker!
  4. I'd use a hammer.... but then that's my solution to lots of things! I'm sure someone more sensible has a suggestion.

    small car..

My uncle (mechanic) has a W reg polo in your budget he's looking to sell on. I'll have a chat with him later today and see what it's like.
  6. OK Thanks guys. I'm wondering why Jotun sell a product for less than 50 quid that claims to protect for 3 years, yet Blakes and International which Ive used before are over
  7. Anyone know of any good rates or places for Antifoul at the moment before I go and buy it for full mark up at Force 4? I'll need 2.5L of fast crusing or similar and a small tin of TriLux for the leg. Cheers Adam

    Radio check

We've had similar problems with JV over the past months. Fixed now, a long story - I'll send you a PM.
  9. My prefered Oysters are Rock oysters - but sourced locally.... I like to know where my oysters have come from... ... wonder if the upper class local oysters have been effected?
  10. I meant crewless for Sharky anglers! I know youre coming for cod! OK Nige - lets see if the weather plays ball? XC and Windguru look OK - the BBC are giving 14knots for Sat and Sun??
  11. I'm still crewless - havent got any sacking or fish oil sorted and need to arrange some end tackle! I'm tempted to postpone unless the weather is A1

    Fuel Gauge

Can you access the tank Craig? Could be a number if things. Checking the earth / ground isnt a bad idea. They are usually held in but a gasket and circular' manifold' type arrangement - basically a the sender has a circular tope with numerous machine screws that go through a rubber gasket and into a backing plate. Some may just self tap into the tank. Often boat builders use a basic swing arm type unit that has a flat on one end - this floats on top of the fuel and creates a resistance on the sender. These can get gunked up easily and stop sending. The one we have on JV uses a better magnetic sliding collar arrangement. Getting access to the sender and a multimeter should find the problem. Ring me if you need more help. Adam
  13. This Sunday see's the rescheduled Specimen Comp.. weather isnt looking too bad - post here if you want to fish? 1.) Gordon Holt - Fugazi 2.) + 1 - Fugazi
  14. It will be going ahead - proivided we get a few entrants! I'll start a new thread....
  15. Ive got a space for 1 crew mid-channel sharking on Sunday. You'll need your own suitable gear. Anyone fancy it?
  16. When companies go one step further than the norm it desrves to be recognised... I'd like to praise Galeforce Marine. http://www.galeforcemarine.com/DEFAULT.asp I've used their pumps on my last 2 boats without issue, but the one that runs the deckwash on JV has been playing up the past few weeks with a faulty pressure cut-off switch. Galeforce sell their kit through Ebay and pride theirselves on customer service - so I dropped Colin an email yesterday - I got a reply about an hour later saying 'send me your address and I'll post you one FOC' Wow!! In a day when people often charge over the top, such customer service is rare. If any members need a pump of any description either high or low pressure, please take a look at Galeforce's. They are practically identical to likes of Parmax and Shurflo - at nearly half the price. Mention you are from PBSBAC! Adam
  17. Well spotted!! Anyone got Sept tides?
  18. Thanks Dave - in that case the first weekend in September looks favourite - slightly smaller tides.
  19. After such a good weekend, I'm planning on repeating it again at the back end of the summer - Weymouth usually fishes well this time of year. So - I dont have a tide book to hand, but I'm thinking of either the weekend of the 3rd or the 10th September? Format - likely to be as this time, as Charlie did such a good job. Down to Weymouth on the Friday, overnight on Fri and Sat and back on Sun. Staying in Portland again, come down by sea, trail down or bring your kayak! Another option could be a simple 2 day trip - down on the Fri or Sat and back on Sat/Sun - keeps the brownie point tin more intact? Who else fancies it?

    radar

I can add to the above: Mine gets used very little.... but when it does - boy is it a boon! The fog we've had the past few weeks doesnt worry me a bit. Sure a good lookout is needed, but with a decent radar if gives you 'eyes' in the murk! Make sure it's set up right and you know how to use it. The demo at the club meet the other week was good for this. The kit isnt quite plug and play, getting it set up correctly makes a huge difference to performance. Finally - we have the Lowrance broadband unit - very good - on a calm sea it will pick up pot buoys not too bad and small fishing boats easily.
  21. What a great weekend! One of the most enjoyable trips out on JV.... and with hardly a fish caught! 'How?' you may ask.... well Rach and I decided to have a short break away on the boat and join in with the Weymouth weekend excellently organised by Charlie. The plan for us was simple - no rods (well maybe the odd sneaky one!) no fishing, just crusing and chillin'! Reub was at grandparents, the sun was shining and the cooler full of cold beer, wine and food and JV was full of fuel! Off we go! First stop was round to Studland to meet up with a few non-club, non-fishing friends and also to drop into the Aquapalooja that Parkstone Bay Marina and Tom Bettle had organised - awesome is all I can say, just a shame it clashed with other plans.... around 30 boats all rafted together close in at Studland - lashings of beer, wine and soft drinks, jugs of Pimms, lovely food, a BBQ, games for the kids and a great atmosphere... very, very good! After a couple of cold Magners and a bite to eat we waved farewell and poked JV West... .... Next stop was Chapman's Pool - Rach took us there and LOVED driving the boat - boy, this was already a great weekend and we had only been on the water 3 hours! Round at Chapmans Pool the sun shone brightly, we were well sheltered from the gentle breeze and as we approached you could easily have been in Maritius - the Purbecks towered above us with a shroud of mist above them and the water glistened a clear turquoise colour.... heaven - we had the Pool to ourselves, so in went the lunch pick... and that's when the dream of the tropics ended.... as we jumped in!!! was a tad cold!... but great fun! After a sneaky fish and a bucket of fat mackerel to 'pay' the babysitters - we cleaned up and steamed West to Portland Marina to meet up with the rest. In the marina at 6pm, and BOY! what a marina this is.... truely superb. The facilities at A1 - around 20 shower units and toilets, all in stone and frosted glass. A first class resturant, marina office and numerous shops. We had a lovely meal in lovely company..... all I'll say is that the girls made us boys look VERY restrained on our Alderney trip! I'll never be able to look at some members in the same light again!! After much merriment and wine we retired to the boats for a restful night in the sheltered marina tied alongside. For Rach and I we needed to get back, so first away at 9.30am and for a change we had wind and tide on our side all the way back - sat at 20 knots we cruised in the morning Sun, and all too quickly were washing down back in the marina. 60 miles covered and 70L of fuel -
  22. Looks like the sharking group wont need to steam 25 miles south next weekend then!
  23. If you want a buddy boat Kev, I'm going up on Sat?
  24. Charlie, Can I change my main course choices to crab cakes and fish and chips - rach has changed her mind. Adam
