  1. Well done Rob and team - the comp hasnt started yet, but already youve put in a huge amount of work. Really looking forward to it. Thanks to all who helped out, and lets hope today is a roaring success.
  2. Dont know who put somehting about 12knts for the comp day.... Windguru is now giving 26knts tomorrow afternoon.... Met office giving F6-7 Swanage Bay is going to be busy! ... mind you spare a thought for the Fox's.... I guess still stuck Frog side!
  3. and Ben's on with me.
  4. I suspect this is where the brakes need adjusting. Ive had this numerous time when I had my Warrior. If the linings have come away from the shoe, then the brakes will be locked solid. On here somewhere is a long thread by me detailing how to strip, clean and adjust a set of brakes and hubs. The problem you have is that the drums arnt actually 100% round. Where your brakes arent biting enough, when you brake they move but dont make contact with the drum face, but snag occasionally when the high spot of the drum makes contact. This doesnt sound plausable... but trust me it is. If you adjust the brakes up, I'll bet you when you brake you can actually feel the drums bite and the trailer 'sit-down' slightly and pull on the car - this shouldnt be excessive, but you should feel the trailer brakes working. The adjuster is a 17mm nut on the rear of the drums which adjusts the spacing of the shoes. The way to set them is to jack the wheel up. Tighten the nut right up solid and then back it away 1/2 a turn at a time, until the wheel rotates, but you should hear the shoes lightly rubbing and the wheel shouldnt spin for more than 1 or 2 turns unaided. Do this both sides and I think this will cure your problem. The linings come away from the shoes for a living. Ive tried all sorts and never managed to get more than a few seasons out of a set. Stripping the hub back and giving it a real good clean and rub down with a wire brush and a liberal covering of grease (not on the shoe and drum face!) will help. Ring me if you need any more help. Adam
  5. Is it strapped and chocked? I spent alot of time on the fuel tank when doing JV. She sits on a base of glassed in 18mm ply, with a pair of 2x2" chocks the full length of the tank to stop ANY side by side movement. In addition she has a pair of 2" rachet straps around her... the tank isnt going anywhere. A 160L of fuel slopping around creates some pretty huge pressures!
  6. I'd be quite confident in the repair Mike. But obviously I cant see the damage. Ive tried to clean up old sikaflex in the past and it sticks like the devil! Just keep and eye on it. I'm sure that it'll get you back. Good luck!
  7. Well if anyone wants crew??
  8. Alun very kindly helped out today with the sh%te task that is re-antifouling.... To be fair JV wasnt that bad, the marina staff had her out and jetwashed and all of my diving and scrubbing over the past few weeks has got her nearly back to the primer. A quick scrub with a brillo and a wash and we were ready to go. I went with Seajet in Navy Blue in the end from Pete at Quay West. The leg was re-done in Volvo grey tri-lux. So after 5 hours of sweating and feeling a bit wobbly from the fumes JV is sat drying on the hard at PBM looking like new! It is a crap job though and she may well end up on the stack and store in 2011. Thanks for all the advice.
  9. Use the list people!! 1. Star Turn - Rob F & Charlie A 2. Awol with Dean, Tony and Martin 3. Wight Magic with Dave jim Bill Dave 4. Abode11 Jackie And Craig 5. Neo Paul D and Steve 6. Boblin with Colin and Bobi 7. JV - Adam and TBC
  10. Do you have a 'Bob' I find liberal appliaction of this tool (sorry Bob, youre not really a tool!) works wonders. Every boat should have one.

    Sea Bee

It was Coastal Rides that have the bad name with fitting them out, Cair Paravel who mould and invented the Aquafish pulled out of Coastal Rides in 2009, as they too had problems with them. Dennis - Ive sympathy for you, it's frustrating. However we dont have a production line boat and every A'fish built is unique and to a slightly different spec - I guess this makes ironing out little niggles tough! We had a few teething issues with the Volvo in JV. Hang in there you'll get it sorted and start to enjpoy her. PS: I had a sneaky peek today whilst I was down antifouling JV - SeeBee looks a cracker!
  12. I'd use a hammer.... but then that's my solution to lots of things! I'm sure someone more sensible has a suggestion.

    small car..

My uncle (mechanic) has a W reg polo in your budget he's looking to sell on. I'll have a chat with him later today and see what it's like.
  14. OK Thanks guys. I'm wondering why Jotun sell a product for less than 50 quid that claims to protect for 3 years, yet Blakes and International which Ive used before are over
  15. Anyone know of any good rates or places for Antifoul at the moment before I go and buy it for full mark up at Force 4? I'll need 2.5L of fast crusing or similar and a small tin of TriLux for the leg. Cheers Adam

    Radio check

We've had similar problems with JV over the past months. Fixed now, a long story - I'll send you a PM.
  17. My prefered Oysters are Rock oysters - but sourced locally.... I like to know where my oysters have come from... ... wonder if the upper class local oysters have been effected?
  18. I meant crewless for Sharky anglers! I know youre coming for cod! OK Nige - lets see if the weather plays ball? XC and Windguru look OK - the BBC are giving 14knots for Sat and Sun??
  19. I'm still crewless - havent got any sacking or fish oil sorted and need to arrange some end tackle! I'm tempted to postpone unless the weather is A1

    Fuel Gauge

Can you access the tank Craig? Could be a number if things. Checking the earth / ground isnt a bad idea. They are usually held in but a gasket and circular' manifold' type arrangement - basically a the sender has a circular tope with numerous machine screws that go through a rubber gasket and into a backing plate. Some may just self tap into the tank. Often boat builders use a basic swing arm type unit that has a flat on one end - this floats on top of the fuel and creates a resistance on the sender. These can get gunked up easily and stop sending. The one we have on JV uses a better magnetic sliding collar arrangement. Getting access to the sender and a multimeter should find the problem. Ring me if you need more help. Adam
  21. This Sunday see's the rescheduled Specimen Comp.. weather isnt looking too bad - post here if you want to fish? 1.) Gordon Holt - Fugazi 2.) + 1 - Fugazi
  22. It will be going ahead - proivided we get a few entrants! I'll start a new thread....
  23. Ive got a space for 1 crew mid-channel sharking on Sunday. You'll need your own suitable gear. Anyone fancy it?
  24. When companies go one step further than the norm it desrves to be recognised... I'd like to praise Galeforce Marine. http://www.galeforcemarine.com/DEFAULT.asp I've used their pumps on my last 2 boats without issue, but the one that runs the deckwash on JV has been playing up the past few weeks with a faulty pressure cut-off switch. Galeforce sell their kit through Ebay and pride theirselves on customer service - so I dropped Colin an email yesterday - I got a reply about an hour later saying 'send me your address and I'll post you one FOC' Wow!! In a day when people often charge over the top, such customer service is rare. If any members need a pump of any description either high or low pressure, please take a look at Galeforce's. They are practically identical to likes of Parmax and Shurflo - at nearly half the price. Mention you are from PBSBAC! Adam
  25. Well spotted!! Anyone got Sept tides?
