  2. On the basis that we have 4 or 5 boats now not able to make it and a couple unsure, with a very borderline forecast that gives gusts in excess of Jims max flying speed and the fact we haven't agreed a firm start time, I suggesting we postpone and go for another try in 2 weeks. To make this work we need plenty of boats and decent conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. The slightly later start would suit me, I haven't been able to get the boat launched tonight so will have to get it launched in the morning, plus I'll have both kids. If it's 7.30 I may miss the drone battery length, not something I want to do if I've driven and hour and got the kids out of bed at 6.30.
  4. I've been out this morning and it was glorious. However back in now and really windy! Charlie is out on Alfresco as are a number of other club boats so they should be able to report back later on conditions.
  5. The waves aren't an issue, and conditions for the boats are more than safe enough, my concern is dragging a dozen or more club skippers and boats out early on a Sunday morning only to find the gusting wind is too much and we have to abort.
  6. That won't drop the wind though will it rob? At the height Jim will fly at it will be constant? Plus 10 knot speed limit makes filming very restricted?
  7. Looking at the forecast and considering Jim is the one flying a grands worth of kit around, I suggest he makes the call Fri / Sat? At 15mph max we will need a nice calm day?
  8. Don't expect to find a good one on your doorstep! I've done many miles looking, buying and transporting boats over the years, sadly they ain't like cars, and to get a decent one you often have to travel.
  9. 2011 return leg home was nice and sunny! The wind however was 3-4 occasionally 5 Westerly, Steve Porter gave us the nod some 10 miles off that conditions were ok so we went for it..... It was mainly 5 on the port beam all the way home..... As Charlie said not unsafe for our boats but uncomfortable and slower.... I couldn't make a cuppa on the way back, which was some 5 hours from memory!
  10. I won't have enough water to get out until 7.30/8am so will get round ASAP. Where are we agreeing to rendezvous?
  11. Also not sure it's the best area to film, the wind isn't too big so if it holds it should be fine, although Jim will make the final call I guess.
  12. Plus we all like a bit of boat porn! Even if it does have rags and sticks!
  13. Pics please Mike, as good as your descriptions are, all I can imagine is a gro box with lots of bits of batten and rope in! A pic tells a thousand words as they say!

  15. Nice. What camera is that filmed with lofty?
  16. I am aiming to do all dates subject to lots of other stuff. I can accommodate another 2 kids and dads (or mums!) on JV if anyone needs a boat. 24th July: Marlin - Bradley Toms Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin 28th August: Marlin - Bradley Toms Boat? - Jayden Wald Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin 11th September; Marlin - Bradley Toms Boat? - Jayden Wald Reel Bizzy - Jacob Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin
  17. Firstly well done Greg for taking up the batten, a vital part of keeping our sport going. Can I question why the closing date for all comps and no late entrants? Surely we want to make this as easy and welcoming as possible. As a dad with two budding fisher kids I'm keen to take part but a busy work and family life often makes dates tricky.

    JV Goes Deep

Thanks Rob, really enjoyed the day. Great to have the A team back out again, and despite the tricky fishing it was a super day.
  19. Rob wants Jojo on film, plus he can whizz about with the stills camera. I'll see if Alan J or Ian can join me on JV to help you.
  20. If you have been following the thread in the Club section, you'll see that I am organising a video shoot of club boats for a special 25th Anniversary Video shoot. The first date to try will be Sunday 8th May - we need decent weather conditions as much of the footage will be filmed by drone, which needs calm winds to fly effectively. The plan will be to rendezvous in Studland Bay early morning, where we will organise the boats from the Control Vessel which Jim the Cameraman will be stationed on. Clearly simply having a dozen or so boats zooming about is going to be tricky to organise, so this way everyone gets a slot with the camera and a chance to be filmed in clear water without loads of others cluttering the shots. Rob Francis and myself will then clip the footage into a 4/5 min promo video to be released at the 25th Anniversary Party! In addition we will produce separate clips for all boats and skippers to be handed to them personally. If you want to see the sort of thing we will be aiming to do have a look here: Who's in? 1 - Joint Venture - Aquafish 28
  21. JV crew have made the (easy) call to postpone this time round. I cant make the 13/14/15th trip, however JV may still go with Ian skippering. I will be looking at the 28th May weekend for a trip over.
  22. Oh no Pete. Nothing serious I hope? The forecast is looking grim both sides of the Channel and has done for the past couple of days, I'm now looking at June if it doesn't switch. I'm fine though, we had such a good trip in Aug last year there will be plenty more calm weekends through the summer. The benefit of having your own boat... Go when you like!
  23. Forecast starting to shape up a bit now, looking ok(ish) Poole side but dreadful over the channel. That said will probably be different in the morning! I've polished the whole boat today so she is sat gleaming and raring to go!!
  24. The weather watching begins... fri now just showing on most sites!
  25. Great news Mike and well done! Love the twist on the name which is Synominous with you and Carol. Look forward to hearing progress on the refit. Pics??
