  1. Plus we all like a bit of boat porn! Even if it does have rags and sticks!
  2. Pics please Mike, as good as your descriptions are, all I can imagine is a gro box with lots of bits of batten and rope in! A pic tells a thousand words as they say!
  3. Madness Tigerfish Reel Magic Alfresco Sweet Chariot Kingfisher Joint Venture
  4. Nice. What camera is that filmed with lofty?
  5. I am aiming to do all dates subject to lots of other stuff. I can accommodate another 2 kids and dads (or mums!) on JV if anyone needs a boat. 24th July: Marlin - Bradley Toms Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin 28th August: Marlin - Bradley Toms Boat? - Jayden Wald Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin 11th September; Marlin - Bradley Toms Boat? - Jayden Wald Reel Bizzy - Jacob Joint Venture - Reuben Franklin
  6. Firstly well done Greg for taking up the batten, a vital part of keeping our sport going. Can I question why the closing date for all comps and no late entrants? Surely we want to make this as easy and welcoming as possible. As a dad with two budding fisher kids I'm keen to take part but a busy work and family life often makes dates tricky.

    JV Goes Deep

Thanks Rob, really enjoyed the day. Great to have the A team back out again, and despite the tricky fishing it was a super day.
  8. Rob wants Jojo on film, plus he can whizz about with the stills camera. I'll see if Alan J or Ian can join me on JV to help you.
  9. If you have been following the thread in the Club section, you'll see that I am organising a video shoot of club boats for a special 25th Anniversary Video shoot. The first date to try will be Sunday 8th May - we need decent weather conditions as much of the footage will be filmed by drone, which needs calm winds to fly effectively. The plan will be to rendezvous in Studland Bay early morning, where we will organise the boats from the Control Vessel which Jim the Cameraman will be stationed on. Clearly simply having a dozen or so boats zooming about is going to be tricky to organise, so this way everyone gets a slot with the camera and a chance to be filmed in clear water without loads of others cluttering the shots. Rob Francis and myself will then clip the footage into a 4/5 min promo video to be released at the 25th Anniversary Party! In addition we will produce separate clips for all boats and skippers to be handed to them personally. If you want to see the sort of thing we will be aiming to do have a look here: Who's in? 1 - Joint Venture - Aquafish 28
  10. JV crew have made the (easy) call to postpone this time round. I cant make the 13/14/15th trip, however JV may still go with Ian skippering. I will be looking at the 28th May weekend for a trip over.
  11. Oh no Pete. Nothing serious I hope? The forecast is looking grim both sides of the Channel and has done for the past couple of days, I'm now looking at June if it doesn't switch. I'm fine though, we had such a good trip in Aug last year there will be plenty more calm weekends through the summer. The benefit of having your own boat... Go when you like!
  12. Forecast starting to shape up a bit now, looking ok(ish) Poole side but dreadful over the channel. That said will probably be different in the morning! I've polished the whole boat today so she is sat gleaming and raring to go!!
  13. The weather watching begins... fri now just showing on most sites!
  14. Great news Mike and well done! Love the twist on the name which is Synominous with you and Carol. Look forward to hearing progress on the refit. Pics??
  15. Cheers boys, had a lush day! Looking forward to getting back and out on the boat though!
  16. JV has accommodation etc and fixed plans for the 29-2nd variable 2/3 days each way to suit weather. Plan b is 2 weeks later but window is smaller (for me anyway) due to work. Can't wait!
  17. Pete, First dibs on the raft please. I'll PM the money bit.. Adam
  18. Great to see it getting such healthy debate at top level. Thanks PJ
  19. This winter has given me the chance to sort the last few jobs we had planned but ran out of time for last year. One of the big ones was the bring the deck up to level with the high standard of the interior. The Southampton boat show gave Ian and myself the chance to tender out the work to numerous suppliers and after a biting negotiation, we settled on MCP Marine - http://www.marinedecking.co.uk/ using Wilks Tek Dek. Two visits were required, one to discuss requirements and fitting / pattern templates, the second to fit the new deck. I'm absolutely delighted with the end result, better than imagined and really lifts JV to a finished standard. Would highly recommend MCP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. My new 30lb Saltists arrived from over the Channel at Xmas - pressie to myself! I now need a matching pair of Avets to match... but which size? MX or JX? I know the narrow spool option is preferred, just which model? Any thoughts? https://www.rokmax.com/shop/avet-mxj-5-8-reel.aspx or https://www.rokmax.com/shop/avet-jx-4-6-6-0-reels.aspx
  21. Guernsey was the JV crew's choice for the first trip too. However I have a rod exchange to sort with Mark, so I may still need a visit to Alderney, and hence like your idea Oli.
  22. Smaller tides on 1st or 3rd week in May, so as a starter I would suggest aiming initially at Friday 29th coming back May 2nd? Back up would then be 2 weeks later 13th to 16th.
  23. 9 days late, as most of you know this is traditionally the New Years day posting! The last few years the trips have dwindled a little as most of us that go know what we are doing and tend to go in smaller groups now. The logistics is easier with only a couple of boats, but it's good fun with a group and gives those who haven't been before a chance of safety in numbers. Personally I'll be looking to go around early May time and then again in Aug for Alderney week as it was such great fun last time! So there you go - a trip to brighten the mood amidst all this wind and rain.... dreaming of blue skies, flat seas and big fat flatties!
  24. Took the wind out of me yesterday to hear the sad news. RIP Chris, and condolences to his wife and family. Such as shame his retirement was all too short. Will / can the club send flowers or similar to his wife? ------- I first met Chris in 1999 when I returned to Sea fishing after a number of years course fishing. He was the first charter skipper I ever booked, and still to this day the best. I stayed in contact fishing from Tiger Lily on an infrequent basis until I started the clubs Annual Alderney trip, and once again we used Chris for several years. As Chris E says, I too have very fond memories of him shouting from the wheelhouse door ' you're all fishing like lesbians!' People like Chris don't come around very often. Gone but never forgotten.
  25. Would be nice to see the winning fish from each comp? I've a few of Reub which I'll upload later this week.
