    Solent help

Funny that! It's the info I had, but mine too came to a macky bait fished deep!
  2. You got it in one Al. Its the ones marked ++. We can only enter 4 comps and these are the 4 we decided on. Format doesnt matter, its based upon the position the entrant gets. Does this clarify it? BTW - for those who dont know - the prize is a fully fitted Warrior 165 worth approx
  3. A good read!! However - dont the forum members think that stories of old always sound better the older they are? I remember days fishing off Boscombe Pier when I was 5 with my Dad. Sure the fishing was better then, but I recall days of a cod every cast - when in reality I guess the 2 or 3 cod I saw caught seemed like monsters every cast! Nice to reminisce though!

Thanks Mark. Two people is fine. Looks like an option, we'll look into it. To be honest, we may just pop here in for a few months and see how bad the growth is before we act. Looks like we have a few options. Adam

    Solent help

Dan, Are you on the Solent Fishing forum? If not register on their. The guys have quite a bit of help they can give for up that end. Adam PS: I'm useless - still have your anchors here!
  6. Bob and I went down to Cair Paravel again today to talk build options and see how our new boat is getting on. She went into the mould just yesterday so it was pretty cool to see her like this. 3 weeks and counting!! We are tracking the build / fit-out progress on the club gallery here: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/photoalbum/thumbnails.php?album=123

Nope - cause if we need one we'll have ripped the leg off the boat and a scraped hull will be the last of our worries!! Our mooring wont dry out, and like the Aquafresh crew will just have to pick our tides a little more carefully.
  8. It's worth giving some thought to. As has been said, I have scheduled two comps this year on Sat's to gauge the interest. Personally, and from the replies above its 50/50 who can and who cant. Making it over two days may be something I / we look at next year. I guess it has the advantage of more people fishing, but makes it less of an 'event'. Adam Comp. Sec.
  9. JESUS!! - What must the kids look like then!!!

Copper Coat Tell me more please? A few people have recommended it for a brand new boat so while we have the rare option of this, I'd like to know the pros and cons please! Thanks
  11. Bob will get a lift up with me I'd guess, so not a problem. Cant get hold of him though... I'll keep trying
  12. Much like Terry for me. Uptiding works slightly better than casting downtide. However I just use my 7' downtide rods. 6oz grip lead, running ledger and a 2/3' 30lb snood. 3/0 fine wire hook and squid / rag / lug bait. The best tip I can give it change you baits every 10 mins max. The coffee water means smell is king!
  13. Thanks Terry, Good on you. Bob F was looking for a crew space, I'll text him now.
  14. Monday 5th is a new moon. Dont have tides for the CI's but Poole is a 2.2m that day. We've had all tides when we've been over in the past biggies are harder fishing. We had big tides in 2006 with Chris meaning the weight went down a few times during the day. I'd suggest the weather is more of a concern over the tides, if it's a summer like weekend the tides would be of little concern to me!
  15. Pretty dissapointing for Gordon trying to pull this togther. At the moment I think he has just other boat - Jojo, so a grand total of 2 boats representing PBSBAC.... Not withstanding those who cant make it due to other arrangements, I'd be interested to know why other members who trail dont fancy the trip?
  16. "You think I'M ugly..... you wanna see my mate!"
  17. Gotta hear that story!......
  18. Good news Charlie! 1. do the Members who have been before consider the timing and tides good enough to make the trip viable? I'm far from the most experianced, but have now been half a dozen times. Id say now is about bang on if you want the flatties, Ive heard that they are showing, the clear water seems the key, find it, find the fish. Spring tides - fine IMO. 2. What are the target species? Ether around the islands or on Route Macky this side for bait. Stop enroute - Pollock mainly, outside chance of a cod. Once over there, flatties on the banks, with the odd bass thrown in. April and May is mainly flatty time. 3. Would anyone like to buddy up with their boats? Only if you tow us!! Not this year for us.... 4.I am not sure if Sam will be able to come, if not I would have space for 2, if he comes only 1, but I am afraid sleeping guests onboard would be a problem. Put me down please, I'm dead keen to come. Happy to sort out other arrangements if Sam does come. 5. would someone like to give me a starter on areas to fish and catch bait etc [ Treated in confidence and respected of course] I'll drop you a PM - its not that secret, but a bit too much to type here! ATB Adam

    Hollow braid

Trev, What about leadcore - used for carping? Dont know what the BS would be, but pretty easy to splice a hook into it? Adam
  20. Corky, The idea is that you keep posting on the original thread, so that it goes, on, and on, and on.... Can one of the mods move this bit onto the end of my original post? Ta!
  21. Well its been a week - some great first entries for a pretty average initial entry from me! Commendation for the following: Gordon: Jack: Duncan: But I think my favourite is: Corky Corky - well done, over to you - post a piccie and we will do our best!!
  22. COME ON GUYS!!!!!! We know we have a good proportion of trailer boats in the club. We have had at least 6 boats each year we have been up, this year just 2!! Give Gordon some support and come and represent your club - I practically promise you a good day's fishing! If it helps, I'm happy to tow any boat up to 1.5t up and back free of charge, provided you can get it to Blandford. Who's next??
  23. Good turn out!! Lets hope we can keep it up throughout the year! Thanks for the results Paul - I'll submit the first set to Boat Fishing Monthly for the comp. Keep an eye on it guys and girls - a fully fitted Warrior 165 worth over 16k is top prize this year!! Adam PBSBAC Comp Secreatry
  24. Blimey Fred! Bet you were glad to be in Crimson tide and not Cyclone - looks nasty! Did you catch though!!
  25. Thanks guys. Seen a few pictures with the AF fitted with a white stern light, but I see the MCA legislate this only over 12m and under 20m. So basically the same as I had on OotB. I'll get shopping!
