  1. Tricky for a fishing trip, when you're likely to change plans depending on how the fishing is going. You could be in the situation where you're constantly updating it. Unless for example "Intend fishing somewhere in Poole Bay" is good enough.

We're doing it all wrong Fishing Video
  3. Keeping my options open, depends on price but might consider something in the "Quicksilver" style or Warrior, Alaska etc. The idea is to have something towable, at the moment I keep Figmant at Wareham which means I'm very dependant on tides, too low and I touch bottom, too high and I can't get under the bridge.
  4. I've decided to sell Figment. Full details and photos here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/brunyard
  5. Brought tears to my eyes.
  6. Happy New Year and tight lines to everyone. Regards, Brian
  7. Well done everyone, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year
  8. But did anyone catch a flounder?

    Friday

Well that was a waste of time, going to try off Hamworthy Beach saturday evening to use up the bait.

    Friday

Got the day off tomorrow , going to try for the flounders in Wareham Channel. If anyone else is out, give me a call on the radio (Channel 16), call sign "Figment".
  11. Hello Tim, nice boat. See you're at Rockley, ideal for the flounders in Wareham Channel. Might see you up there.
  12. Friday evening was lovely, weather wise, but the flounders failed to put in an appearance . Loads of crabs and several small bass pinching the bait, still better than watching tv though.
  13. Going to give the beach a try tomorrow evening (Friday 14th).
  14. Rich Tried all the above methods, except the spoon was stainless, had success with all at different times. Had some good catches last year using a float at Shipstal. Also, sometimes drift with a spoon and beads, depends on wind direction and amount of water and what takes our fancy.
  15. Rich Bottom tackle, at anchor and with a small anchor from the stern to stop the boat swinging. Size 1 hooks, no beads or spoons. Monday fished from high water to 2 hours before low, Friday first fish half an hour before low water second fish 2 hours after low. Brian
  16. We had a nice evening at the edge of Wareham Channel, my son-in-law had a 2lb flounder within 10 mins (18:30), and another the same size later on, I didn't get anything. The good news in the 6 we had on Monday and the 2 he had last night were all in beautiful condition, not a blemish on them.
  17. Going to have another go at the flounders in Wareham Channel this evening, I'll let you know how I get on.

    Flounders

Fished Wareham Channel today, 6 Flounders (3 for me and 3 for my mate) all about 1.5 lbs.
  19. If you can get a quote from Flexicovers, you're doing better than me. Twice I've enquired via their website, first time about 12 months ago, and again about 2 months ago, haven't heard a thing, not even a "Thanks for your enquiry".
  20. You're right fishing for Bass from a boat west of a line from Gerry's Point to Branksea Castle to Salterns Marina is illegal (1st April to 31st Oct) Fisheries Patrol are very keen at the moment, apparently talking to all fishing boats, private and commercial. I was drifting near Gold Point and the Fisheries Patrol boat came alongside to ensure we weren't fishing for Bass. He appeared surprised that I knew the limits, dates that they applied and had a minimum size chart.
  21. Duncan I realise that, my comments were meant to be a bit "Tongue-in-Cheek"
  22. Considering there's no legal requirement to have a means of measuring speed through the water, I wonder how they would make a prosicution stick if you were only just over the limit. Maybe we should call Harbour Control every 15 mins to ask for the speed and direction of the tidal stream so we can allow for it.
  23. I assume "Habourside Park" is a new trendy name for Baiter!!!
  24. I agree with Mad Mike, or it could be a slight rust film from the imersion.

    Keel Band - #4

It's not just any oil, it's a soluble oil made especially for the job, when mixed with water it's called "Slurry". You could probably get enough for the job from a local engineering firm. You'll only need about a jam jar full, apply with old brush to keep the drill cool.
