  1. I don't think the public have a right of access, it's private land and they've always charged an entrance fee (although they don't bother to collect it during the winter). The best option is to try to obtain a key, although I would have thought it unlikely, considering the number of diving clubs that use Kimmeridge.
  2. Gordon Didn't realise it was an open boat, now I understand. Aluminium or Stainless won't cause any problems signal wise, my Garmin came with a short stainless tube. Regards, Brian
  3. Sorry about the last post, for some reason I wasn't logged in. Regards, Brian
  4. Adam/Steve/Kam/Paul Thanks for all the advice, Just need to finish off a couple of jobs on the present boat and then get it advertised. Hopefully see you on the water this year, either in "Figment" or replacement, depending how quick Figment sells.
  5. Hi Adam Thanks for the info, I might take you up on your offer, need to sell present boat first though. I'm interested that you tow with an Astra, do you have any trouble on slipways with front wheel drive? I'll be towing with a 1.6 Escort, having just changed my wife's car I'm stuck with it for a while. I'll probably get a 12 month slip pass for Cobbs Quay. Regards,
  6. Looks like there's nothing much between them.
  7. Yes Duncan I've considered all options, and quite honestly fany having something different. I quite like the idea of keeping it at home, avoides having to save all the jobs up for the winter and will give the option of towing and fishing further afield. Regards, Brian
  8. I've decided to sell "Figment " and buy something that's trailerable, three reasons: 1. The cost of my mooring at Cobbs for 6 months has increased to the point where I can't justfy it. 2. If I trail I can use the boat all year round instead of just the summer months. 3. It'll then be worth joining PBSBAC. At the moment I've sort of narrowed the choice down to the Warrior 165 and the Explorer Elite. Any information that will help me decide would be greatly appreciated, e.g Engine size, performance, fuel economy, sea keeping etc. Thanks in advance Brian

    Trim tabs?

Take at look at http://thehulltruth.com/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=4 It's a Trim Tab Discussion Forum hosted by Tabman who is a Bennett Rep, I gave him the details of my boat and he advised which size and type I should fit.
  10. Coddy Only one comment on the Mayday card, after ensuring set is "Switched on" and "On channel 16", mine also states "Ensure High Power is selected".
  11. For flounders, Generally fish well up the harbour in October, working towards the entrance by the end of Feb early March. (That sounds like a very slow drift, but you know what I mean).
  12. Just posted the previous, but wasn't logged in for some reason, so I show as Guest.
  13. I use OziExplorer on an old Laptop, connected to my Garmin 128, as a plotter, Got Poole Harbour and Poole Bay charts. Works brilliantly, I store every track (trip). Using Paint Shop Pro I can update the charts, if a navigation buoy is moved etc.

    Flounders

Kim That was me, between the green posts, fished there from 19:00 to 22:00. I assume that was you anchored up towards Patchins point when I came past at about 18:30? Regards, Brian

    Flounders

Fished the same mark Saturday evening, blanked!
  16. Boats don't require a 4 speed gearbox, cars etc. require a range of gears so they can build up to top gear without stalling. Prop slip takes care of it with a boat.

    Flounders

Thanks Adam, though it's probably about time I updated it.

    Flounders

Just had a good days fishing today (Friday), in the harbour: I had 5 flounders up to 2 1/2 lb. My mate had 6 similar size.

    Cabin Light

Can't remember if he smiled or not, but I think the 12v lights were about

    Cabin Light

I bought my flourcesent lights from the Camping/Caravaning shop at Kinson, can't think of the name at the moment. Regards, Brian
  21. Marc You could padlock the scaffold pole to the trailer, transport it the same way. Regards, Brian http://homepage.ntlworld.com/brunyard
  22. Marc Have you seen the arrangement they use at Swanage? It's a long Scaffold Pole with a pair of wheels and a ball hitch at one end, the other end has a tow hitch to fit to the vehicle. Gives good control without putting the vehicle into the water. Regards, Brian
