  5. Hi Robo I had a Wilson flyer for a few years, it had a central cleat on the front behind the anchor hatch. as long as you have grab handles on the cabin roof, moving up to the bow is easy and safe enough in good weather simple to tie off and then lead the rope out through the bow roller. Central position is much better for anchoring than an offset cleat as the bow will turn and the boat move sideways.
  6. Try giving Sam at Deborah scaffold a call, to see if he has some damaged ones to sell for scrap 01202 591255
  7. We used to make them using re bar John, its cheaper than stud just weld 4 pieces down the tube arranged at 90 degree intervals around the tube. then bed a U in another bit and weld it to the other end for attaching the chain. spare ones are carried with the bars straight for easier stowage, then just bend the bars when you want to use it
  8. Sorry Should have said we gut the fish when we take the heads off, quite hard not to really. immediatly after catching we knock them on the head and snip the gills, to stop them bleeding into the fillets. a little later they get beheaded, gutted and put on ice. We used to fillet them, but after taking advice from Will now do that later at home. Charlie
  9. The answer is definitely yes Essential part of the kit through the summer, is a cool box with some ice or cold blocks inside. a tip we use is to cut the heads off of the bigger fish, they fit better in the box and what is the point of trying to keep that cold. There are several old threads on here about choices of cool boxes, Icy Tek are the top of the pile but igloo and Coleman also do good ones.
  10. Hoping to get out on Sunday wrecking Some of my usual crew are not available so I have a space available. If you are interested give me a call 07887 794716 Charlie
  11. I take it that the last bit was a bit tongue in cheek Graham.
  12. Minimum length of chain would be the boats length, but if it is lighter [thinner] then add more length. I would say the rope that Martin has at 10mm would be sufficient, we only use 12mm on Alfresco. agree with others that 200m would be adequate, unless you are going to deep areas..
  13. I bet they were glad to arrive, after sitting across a Rib seat for 4.5 hrs
