If you are uptiding you may want to look at the one with casting brakes

Well done Steve and all the Hardy anglers and friends
-
All depends on your budget Chris We love the Kensaki range of rods, and started using the 12-20 one when pollack fishing with an Abu 7000. Like Adam I now use Avets instead of the Abu's, Mainly due to the smooth lever drag and the faster retrieve.

well its not perfect, but could still go either way. Same as always at this stage, we should have a better idea by Tue

Well done Brian The fish have been delaying their arrival while your boat was OOA. Lets hope that they arrive soon.

Well Done I thought 8 Club boats charging around the channel Islands was exciting Not sure I fancy 22 miles in a Kayak

How sad you are Rob [i made mine from Octopus hooks and Faultless hooks with various colors of shrink tube ] but at least I did not take pictures of them Adam I have an old first aid pouch, that holds plenty of mine, its much bigger and tougher than a rig wallet and is heavy when full. But it keeps the sharps safe.

I Still like sleeping onboard especially if we need an early start and can get the crew onboard [Hint Hint] are we getting together somewhere to discuss and plan prior to the trip or just doing our own organising? If we are going early on Friday I will be tendering my apologies and missing the meeting on Thursday
-
You is just getting posh Mr Franklin
-
Can you put up a picture of the front of your boat we could better advise on a suitable method. On alfresco we use a method that would not be as safe on a smaller boat, so it would be better to advise once we know what you have fitted.
-
It will probably change too and fro a bit in the next week Starting to keep an eye on it now

Calm down mate 9 days to go yet

I will chase up the rest of the crew Enough about food, has anyone heard anything about the fishing around the Islands?

Hi Robo I had a Wilson flyer for a few years, it had a central cleat on the front behind the anchor hatch. as long as you have grab handles on the cabin roof, moving up to the bow is easy and safe enough in good weather simple to tie off and then lead the rope out through the bow roller. Central position is much better for anchoring than an offset cleat as the bow will turn and the boat move sideways.

Try giving Sam at Deborah scaffold a call, to see if he has some damaged ones to sell for scrap 01202 591255

We used to make them using re bar John, its cheaper than stud just weld 4 pieces down the tube arranged at 90 degree intervals around the tube. then bed a U in another bit and weld it to the other end for attaching the chain. spare ones are carried with the bars straight for easier stowage, then just bend the bars when you want to use it

Sorry Should have said we gut the fish when we take the heads off, quite hard not to really. immediatly after catching we knock them on the head and snip the gills, to stop them bleeding into the fillets. a little later they get beheaded, gutted and put on ice. We used to fillet them, but after taking advice from Will now do that later at home. Charlie

The answer is definitely yes Essential part of the kit through the summer, is a cool box with some ice or cold blocks inside. a tip we use is to cut the heads off of the bigger fish, they fit better in the box and what is the point of trying to keep that cold. There are several old threads on here about choices of cool boxes, Icy Tek are the top of the pile but igloo and Coleman also do good ones.
