  1. There is also Stainless Steve He was going to make some up for my back rails, which at 1 1/4" are to big for the Simpson ones. But replacing the radar took priority. Charlie
  2. Great at last they have seen some sense
  3. We will try to make at least the weekend But Dan is in a new job, so that must take priority 1. Awol 2. Wishing Too 3. Alfresco
  4. well we got the weather and tides right, they were exactly as forecast But the fishing was hopeless. will and I fished for over 6 hours for 1 doggie and a lone Conger The east wind was cold in the morning, but the afternoon became lovely Nigel and Mal fished alongside us on Wishin 2, they did slightly better Probably the slowest fishing day on Alfresco, apart from some weather affected ones in the harbour. Oh well, it should be better next time At least the Breakfast and Lunch were brilliant as usual, and Will found time for a power nap
  5. I can ask my engineer at work on Monday if that helps He has done this a few times prop works like a screw, so providing you know the direction of rotation ahead, its easy to work out Charlie
  6. Booked up for the next few weeks with other commitments, so Will and I are going to give it a go. As we will be anchored up, we could both retire to the cabin around the warm oven if we get too cold. Good luck James and any other hardy [or daft] soles out there, we will be on 6 Charlie
  7. It is I believe just a case of taking the sharp edge off, more of a file job than a grinder
  8. Answers the questions at the start about what they will be like in a few years This thread has run for 6 years Some interesting names from the past at the start
  9. I fitted a couple at Christmas that I bought from Simpson Marine They can be set at various angles rather than fully adjustable, SS and look good. Charlie
  10. I look forward to hearing what this all means at the next meeting
  11. Started off by asking who was going out A few are looking depending on weather. My current thoughts are; Best day is Sat. Tides against us to run West, so will go straight out or East a bit Banks or Wreck depending on weather, may be bit of each. I think that Dan is joining Will and I, but I have room for one more, if anyone fancy's a chilly days fishing get in touch Oh yes Thanks Rob, I have typed this once
  12. Blimey if they can not get out on the tip of Scotland in over a four, no wonder I heard it is hard to get the correct weather I know this is a return trip for you Kam , so I hope that the weather is kind
  13. I will see if I can crew up for the 23rd/24th As Wendy did not object that loudly
  14. Fancy a go at that Muckle Fugga But I hear that the weather tends to make it a bit hit and miss, on if you can get out hell of a long way to go if you can not fish.
  15. While plotting this , does anyone know the latest area being considered for the offshore wind farm?? Lat / Long of the corners would be useful Charlie
  16. Dave / Charlie A / All Do you know what the proposed restrictions are going to be for commercial fishing, boat traffic, anchoring and Recreational Sea Angling in the MCZ's Charlie
  17. Thanks Brian That is close to what I roughly took off the chart grid last night an area outside some of our marks and inside some others, contains about 9 or 10 wrecks If it was a No Take Zone , it would be interesting to see how the fish on those wrecks compared to others near by
  18. Great fish guys Well done Untill I visited Trevor's fish farm a few years ago, I had no idea trout grew that big. Charlie
  19. Good idea Rob Brian I would use that line of thinking with the Insurance Co Charlie
  20. Problem with this business, we all use specialised machines When they have serious problems , you can not just hire in replacements No doubt you are talking to them about a payment break Paul, while you can not use your boat. Charlie
  21. Thanks Brian I knew someone would know What conversion are you using to go from the interactive map to Lat/long and can you do the same fr the larger South Dorset area that is South of Weymouth
  22. That's not good Brian I hope that it gets resolved with your Insurance company Charlie
  23. Hi guys I thought that I would give that a go, on a quiet Sunday evening for the two areas by us, that look to be in the 2013 colours [Red] With the intention of marking them on my charting software, to see where they are exactly and see what is included. The South Dorset area as shown on the Map [using Martin's method above] appears to be between Latitudes 50 41.762 and 50 35.524 Longitudes 002 40.916 and 002 01.950 Plotting those on Garmin Mapsource has very strange results, especially as the top left corner would be ashore??
  24. If someone who knows the area and its March Fishing, can sort out which tides are best and post dates that would be a great help. as I need to look at Work and Family commitments, prior to looking for crew Prefer to run down and then towards home with the tide if possible A two day trip sounds good, either overnight in Weymouth or Portland If the banks are slow, or my crew mutiny. I may reserve the right to change plans on day 2, to a bit of wrecking
