  3. C'est tr
  4. Only the working class know that Martin To the idle rich such as Terry, its just another Monday
  5. Alfresco will also be going Providing the weather is OK, I will be trying to be more realistic this time, as my crew want to make the most of the deeper water oportunities this year. Charlie
  6. Well done on 5th Nigel and another good fish to add to many in 2011. Well done to all of the other Members who won a prize too. I could not let my cold spoil the only day that the weather seemed OK, so I had a late start and 4 hours on an inshore mark. Nothing big for me, but I did get a few nice whiting to 2lb 12 oz. Its hard work alone on Alfresco and I did not sit down much untill the run in. But even in the rain I enjoyed it. Charlie
  7. It looks like the fines add up to less than 10% of the value of the scam. What happened to the other 90%?
  8. Sterting to feel a little better now, and Looking at the weather this may be the only day to even sneak out for a few hours. If I feel OK in the morning I may call a few people over breakfast to check the weather, then do a trip for a few hours on my own. If so I will call a few on Channel 6 Tight lines Charlie
  9. No Nigel, its just a cold that is determined to hang on. Drinking with the boys was fairly moderate this year Charlie
  10. Alfresco is afloat and was due to be refueled later when I finish a half day at work. I have more bait enroute, but that now looks destined for the freezer at home. To be honest I have felt rough over Christmas and can not see the weather making it an enjoyable day feeling like this, so I will give it a miss. I hope that the forecast is wrong and those that get out have a great day Tight lines Charlie
  11. Hard luck with the Cod Neal But at least you have more chance than we do sat ashore. Charlie
  12. happy birthday PJ Looks like you had a good one Charlie and wendy [49 today]
  13. [Happy Christmas all Enjoy the last few days of 2011 and have a great 2012. See you on the Water Charlie Sam and Dan
  14. Greg What you need to know is when the tides are small or medium IMHO large tides make the whole trip hard work, from drifting the wrecks/banks to any thought of tope fishing. Plus the definate need to pick tides to fuel up at Braye. From Memory I think that both of the middle wekends in May are OK, which avoids the bank holidays when family issues and work may take over for me. Talking to Terry earlier this week I believe that accomadation ashore may not be available on some dates. Charlie
  15. I saw this post title Then thought that I wish that I had not just had to treat the boat to a new set of batteries , as I was sure that JV would have had the AIS or a heater that I would rather have spent my money on. But for JV a very modest investment [i added an identical one after parking in Ikea for the boat show] It works fine, matches the cabin colour scheme and has an alarm function. You may need to add blue tac, as they weigh very little and keep falling over. Charlie
  16. Good luck with this Graham If you want any advice please ask , I have a large list of contacts and suppliers that may help you keep to budget. Post up a picture I am sure someone will ID the boat Charlie
  17. Ah, bless! It's like an argument in an OAP sheltered accommodation lounge, at least they won't remember it in 5 mins!! Lucky AWOL has a plotter with track so they can work out where they came from!!! A little more milk in your saucer ROB ??
  18. You are welcome Kev If you pm me your email address I will send the pictures in higher def so that you can send to the magazines and win a few goodies for your tackle box. Charlie
  19. You are so right there Paul, The big man spent many hours fishing with Gary over the winter months, in search of one like this. I am sure he has been looking down on us today. It would have given him a good laugh to see us all floundering in the harbour [especially me]. Charlie
  20. Well it was a lovely day Calm and cold in teh harbour with quite a few fish on the small tide I will let the winner tell the story and Adam the results but what about these for fish and the big girl swam away strongly.
  21. If I can get the boat back afloat I will be there. If not I will be looking to see if anyone else needs crew Charlie
  22. Bloody good effort one and all. all boats except Dave's were either being maintained or ignored due to the weather and 25 Kayakers are afloat and fishing. Well done to all that took part or helped to make it a great meeting in that weather, mid winter. Shows why the Club is happy to help support such hardy and safety concious anglers Charlie
  23. Well done James a couple of nice fish mate its a shame that the ring cost Mark a couple of fish. Nice to see you out there, did the move inshore get any more fish? Charlie
  24. Well done Nige Your net was certainly kept very busy as we sat there keeping all the small fish occupied. Last time we were there it was a quiet day, this time we had to change baits often or there were just bare hooks. We missed a couple of good bites, then as I was chatting with James my rod locked over and a great tussle started. Not long before a very decent cod came into view. Then it all went a bit wrong, weed stopped the leader knot at the top eye, so dave pulled the fish with another line around it to the net by the leader, the fish was propably a bit large for the net especially one held in one hand, the net twisted as the fish jumped and then became a very efficient T bar Fish conservation gone mad I suppose that counts as a fish caught, but no chance to weigh it. High teens or low twenty's That aside it was a good day to be out, the rods were busy all day, I had a great time with Dave again on White magic It was a shame that the flounder comp was cancelled, but it certainly was windy as I worked on Alfresco on Sunday afternoon. We will have to go back for that one over Christmas Charlie
  25. Well done guys on getting out in that sloppy weather and getting another good cod Lets hope they are hungry when the weather settles Charlie
