  1. If you want a nice calm day, do not do what I did today. I let Sam take a couple of his mates for a fish on Alfresco in the Harbour. He knows how much work went into her and knows that she is our pride and joy, so he will be very carefull all day. But its not good for the piece of mind. LOL Even though he is an RYA powerboat instructor and has just spent six months away on his ship so is well used to being afloat. I must be going soft/mad Charlie
  2. We have everything crossed that we can get out this weekend. After all the hard work at home I have a pass to go both days if the Comp is on. I have crew etc, so lets hope the weather is good. Charlie
  3. Happy birthday Neal I hope you get some nice things and a chance to use them in this better weather Charlie
  4. The weather is starting to look a little less optimistic, but we are still on at the moment. Dan may now be able to come but if he cries off I will get in touch Alfie. Can you PM me a contact number. Charlie PS I hear a few fish were landed today
  5. Hi Rory It would be a pleasure to take you out, Will is also coming and room for one more we just need to get a little nearer the weekend to ensure that there is still going to be a weather window. I ought to ask how your sea legs are? as that may decide the limit on the weather for you [and us] We will not be going that far as I have to be back on time, but we will get a chance of Cod Conger and Whiting I hope. PM me a number and I will call nearer the weekend Charlie
  6. Just seen the other thread I had forgotten its the Club Cod Comp Sunday 13th So if you are going, do not forget to register for that one too Tight lines Charlie
  7. OOPs had forgotten that when looking to go out Sat because of going out Sat night. better have a look when I get home to see if boys are available. Thanks for the reminder Charlie
  8. Glad you got the replacement Paul I must say that your lock took some cutting off, but it just shows what can be done with a large bolt cropper, even that lock gave up. That said the size of the croppers I had to use we not exactly descreet. They are about 3 feet long Charlie
  9. I hope that the XC Weather site and their forcast for the end of the week is right. If so Alfresco will be off of her winter berth for the first trip in ages on Sat. The boys have both got early Christmas social arrangements and are not available. Wendy and I are out Sat evening so it will not be a long long day. If anyone fancies a go at the whiting/cod and wants to join me get in touch. Charlie
  10. Great day and report Mark , thanks for letting us know. Its really good to see you and the boys enjoying the boat and getting some fish well done. Its been blowing here for weeks, which is a right pain. Charlie
  11. Mark if I hear of any I will let you know with the current spell of weather I expect a few people will be thinking about selling boats. Good luck with teh search Charlie
  12. Graham You have just given me the best laugh I have had in my office for years Just sat here reading the post laughing, with the thought of you strugling to your PC bound up in your new drysuit to ask how to get it on/off Brilliant mate Have fun stay safe Charlie
  13. Just a reminder, in the hope that the weather settles and fishing is possible on Sunday. Apparently Poole Harbour Commisioners are holding an excercise with the chain ferry on Sunday between 0930 to 1100. I believe that the harbour entrance will be closed at some time during the excercise. Regards Charlie
  14. It certainly has been anything but flat in Poole Harbour for most of today Although is has quitened down nicely now charlie
  15. Thats just mean Have a good trip Simon, tight lines Charlie
  16. Great Fish Dan well done you. and thanks for the pictures, nice to even see a fish after the past months weather. Charlie
  17. As Adam really except I usually do have some pre tied ones in my trace wallet. Twin 6/0 on sliding pennel 60 lb or stronger line for cod a Twin Patenoster with 1/0 hooks for the whiting Dave if you want to see a couple pop around the corner to the house. Charlie
  18. That the answer, Hibernation. Wish I had thought of that Charlie
  19. I hope you are right Alun although if postponed another week all the Chapmans could fish Hope you all get out, we are due in Pompey at 10 so should be in Club waters during the comp. Tight lines Charlie
  20. Hi Just to say a big thanks to those that offered help with this. With the help of Jons tools, the job was done at the weekend and the ceiling plastered earlier today. Browny points now overflowing, so can someone turn the wind off please. Nice one, Thanks again Charlie
  21. At least the Kiwis are trying there best, taking the boat and the gear and issuing fines. even though replacing a small tin boat is cheap enough. Wish we had the bottle to do it, a recent case saw a 14m trawler illegaly fishing for bream inside the 3 mile limit fined 17k even though he admitted making about 10 times as much from a seasons illegal bream fishing. Now if they had taken his boat and gear instead of a 10% fine he would not be out there netting again next season. Charlie
  22. Ok Mark No need to rub it in Just because your snapper fight like bream but grow to over 25lb Wishing you tight lines from across the world Charlie
  23. Well done Dave Thanks
  24. Hi Jon you have a PM Charlie
  25. Thank god for that I hope that the wind has eased a bit, its been a long time since I last went along the South Coast on a warship. But 1 day from home after six months away I am sure they will not be letting rough weather keep them from getting to Pompey. Charlie
