  2. Charlie There were a couple of tackle shops in St Helier One in the town and the other just around the coast to the west, both used to be very keen to promote the angling on the Island and a good source of general info. You can not get ragworm on the island but if you take some over the fish love them Have a nice holiday Charlie

  7. Well I may now have the chance to sneak out on Sunday morning But I am drawn to go out to a wreck on such a nice tide and forecast Our best bream on Sunday was from a wreck so I could still enter the comp. and not pinch anyone from the required 15. Problem is Nether of the boys is available so I would need crew, anyone fancy it? PM or Text me if you do. Cheers Charlie
  8. Perhaps in a few weeks we can organise a trip on Alfresco so that one of the lads who has the method and area sorted can give me and Dan a few pointers any volunteers? Charlie
  9. Happy Birthday Son We hope you have a great birthday, even though the planned trip on the boat has been cancelled We are al going to the Derbys Corner this evening as it was the only local pub where Sam couldn't get served, if you are in the area pop in Charlie Wendy and Dan
  10. Hi Bob/Adam According to the SCV code practical guide [part copied here in brief] Battery Stowage: All batteries should be secured firmly to avoid movement Where the max charging power output is less than 0.2kW the batteries may be located in any suitable space without any special container requirements. Where the Max charging power output is between 0.2 and 2.0 kW the batteries shoul be located in the machinery space or other well ventilated space in a box or locker. Above 2kW they would need a suitably ventilated dedicated compartment. regardiing ventilation it states: To ensure that any evolved hydrogen is expelled, battery compartments, lockers and containers should be exausted from the highest point of the space and air supplied at a level below the top of the batteries. Hope that helps Charlie
  11. Hi Trevor What a great start to your Bass season I have never met Mr Skeggs but I have heard of his manner and behavior before I am sure there should be something that could be done about it, do the charter skippers not have an association?? if it was dangerous report a near miss to the MCA. Interested to know what the other crews thought. Charlie
  12. Text I sent to a very keen Man U fan on Wed evening [ a proper Fan from Manchester who has been to old Trafford, not a South Coast Red who hasn't] "Drogba Get your handbag Your Off.." I enjoyed the match and I am like Sam a rugby fan. When the football team can get into a world cup final let me know. I believe the Rugby lads were in the last two Charlie
  13. Nice report Paul We were among a fleet of big cats on Sat around at the ledges I think that they were getting a few bream but we were not so we only stayed for the middle of the tide. Charlie

  17. Nice one guys well done on starting your favorite species season so well. Went out with Humphrey today we tried later in the day and much further west, although we had tope, dogs . wrasse lots of mackeral and a nice 19lb Blonde the bass and bream did not play. A boat anchored very close had a lovely Brill just under 8lb onboard Nice to have the summer species here Charlie

  19. Thats our bait delivered then Charlie
  20. Nice one Guys what a great day Charlie
  21. Are you kidding Dan have you seen the size of my kids, its safer to cuddle tope Charlie
  22. Unfortunatly Sam and I are working and Dan has started his exams so Alfresco will not be able to take part Tight lines Charlie
  23. Good advice Adam The bow of an offshore lends itself to noisy wave slap and on the first night next to court Jester it was a bit loud. add that to ropes tugging and fenders gave us a disturbed night that not even several pints could remidy. The second night alone and stern too the buoy was much better, and the buffs kept the hippo away from the stern drive. That said I think it was flatter in the harbour on Sunday as well Charlie
  24. I also made up a few traces years ago I always carry at least one on the boat, and would have used one last week if we suspected a porgie was playing. I have tried them this side with zero success. although they were used succesfully abroad once on black tips. They are made of about the same spec as above suggestions 14-0 Mustad seamaster to heavy wire [like cycle brake cable], rolling swivel to 300lb mono then another rolling swivel. I have a few more at home if you want to borrow one next time you go accross Charlie
  25. Funny that Adam I was thinkg that too Nice fish mate well done Charlie
