  2. Nice one Guys what a great day Charlie
  3. Are you kidding Dan have you seen the size of my kids, its safer to cuddle tope Charlie
  4. Unfortunatly Sam and I are working and Dan has started his exams so Alfresco will not be able to take part Tight lines Charlie
  5. Good advice Adam The bow of an offshore lends itself to noisy wave slap and on the first night next to court Jester it was a bit loud. add that to ropes tugging and fenders gave us a disturbed night that not even several pints could remidy. The second night alone and stern too the buoy was much better, and the buffs kept the hippo away from the stern drive. That said I think it was flatter in the harbour on Sunday as well Charlie
  6. I also made up a few traces years ago I always carry at least one on the boat, and would have used one last week if we suspected a porgie was playing. I have tried them this side with zero success. although they were used succesfully abroad once on black tips. They are made of about the same spec as above suggestions 14-0 Mustad seamaster to heavy wire [like cycle brake cable], rolling swivel to 300lb mono then another rolling swivel. I have a few more at home if you want to borrow one next time you go accross Charlie
  7. Funny that Adam I was thinkg that too Nice fish mate well done Charlie
  8. Sounds like a very good day Alan You stayed away from the crowds and caught some good fish an undulate of that size is a good fish, specimen size is 14lb so its a good one, they are not the biggest of our rays but they can be aggressive and those wing thorns can hurt, so you are very sensible to put your gloves on. Charlie
  9. great white

    cool boxes

We used adams Icy tek in the islands with sea water and frozen water bottles Adam made a slurry that kept beer cold [reserved for the first turbot, and was very welcome] the bait was very fresh perfect for the whole trip and all the eating fish in perfect condition. Think I will have to get one Charlie
  10. Gordon has joined us on Alfresco a few times, we have had the egg and slime on the deck But it never stays long enough to dry a good preessure deckwash and helpful crew soon get it off Charlie
  11. Gordon get a grip man What she needs is more conger slime and a bit of runny egg gravy on the deck baked on by the sun then lets see how much you love her when you try getting it off. Charlie
  12. We use the tidal flow atlas at work for the bay I can bring a copy to the next meeting if anyone wants a look. I have one for the channel islands, which I copied for the boats going on the recent trip. Its available from the HMSO. I had a chance to look at Toms system and it was very good, I may get a copy. Charlie
  13. Glen Now is the time that your luck will change Go to the spots and fish the methods Mike suggests using ragworm and you will get fish If you also try a set of feathers every now and again you should get some mackeral. For the bream half a set of feathers [cut the trace in half to make two twin hook rigs] baited with rag or squid heads should do teh job Tight lines Charlie
  14. I am afraid although I was interested. Family commitments will count us out this year Good luck to all taking part, especially the PBSBAC Crews. Have a good one Charlie WE will have to wait for the 48 Hr the following week. [Adam + Bob the invite stands if you can tear yourself away from TBA ]
  15. What sport and excellent photography, I expect to see a few on your office wall soon. It looks like you were sweating a bit fighting those big fish mate Well done Charlie
  16. Nice one guys we have not tried the breaming yet Nice to get the young ones on the fish It certainly helps get the fishing permission when you take the kids well done Alex Charlie
  17. What a great weekend weeks ago when I posted that I wanted to try and go, I was not sure if anyone would join us and I really doubted that the weather would play along. Leading up to the trip 4 other boats decided to come and the obvious excitment was great. It was also nice to have assistance from others who have been before and several locals willing to give advice. THANKS. I will do a long catch report when I have recovered a bit but let me say that we had many good fish, shared out amongst the crew, we enjoyed all the company and all the good humour over the trip. We would all like to thank Adam for joining us, giving freely of his knowledge from previous trips, when we went Duncan stated that he thought his turbot record was in danger Yesterday afternoon his prediction came true when we netted a fish for Adam that we weighed at over 11 lbs.by that time he had caught three, I had one of 5lb 8oz but the boys although trying were still waiting. Adam had another bite that he generously allowed Daniel to have, a very generous gesture especially when the resulting fish was played and landed to be weighed at braye later at 20lb 7 oz 2nd Club record onboard in one day and a very serious jump I will add more later as I amd struggling with Sam;s Laptop Thanks again to everyone who came or assisted with the trip and those that could not make it but wished us luck Charlie and the Alfresco crew

  19. I know what you mean Martin and Adam Not sure I will need the alarm in the morning Been a great thread I hope the trip is as good Incidently I spoke to Duncan at 2035 he was 5 miles out of Braye and losing the light , by now he is probably in the bar. Charlie

  21. Thanks Terry and PJ You are right we are using it as excuse to go over Charlie
  22. Duncan If you string up on Friday stay a little longer and ice some up for us mate If we get into a thick shoal we have said we will do the same for the slightly slower boats CU in Braye Charlie
  23. Sold with original fittings and a charming sea view Sandbanks boathouse
  24. I recognise that ornament. I had one in the garage until I found a better use for it Mind you it used less fuel then Charlie
  25. Thanks Adam We can have a beer tonight as Sam is driving I hope to have a good trip to the Islands and a few beers with friends and if we also crack the fishing what a good one it will be. Hopefully Dave will also have a good one with a few hours on the briny somewhere at the wekend Charlie
