  1. Hi Terry I am not sure what wire you had, but I supplied a large roll to Rich once so if it is part of that do not worry as I can supply more when the need arrises. secondly when I loaned my moulds out during the building of alfresco, someone [i dont know which of the members I loaned them to] purchased the wire loops for the bopedo moulds, and was kind enough to return some with the moulds without me noticing. I am sorry I did not realise at the time to thank you and hope it was intentional as I made some leads recently and used them. These loops are available from various places including veals mail order, so you could use that route to replace wires if you wish. Charlie
  2. Looks like my earlier guess was close Charlie
  3. One to avoid because of it agression nature is DIVERSBS LOL But thats another storey for a wet and windy night and a few beers Charlie

  5. The weather window just seems to move further and further away TV this evening were giving 30 knots monday Charlie
  6. Dan I am sure it will dispurse soon enough Once it hits shore on the Isle of Wight, I am sure it will "dispurse" to garden sheds, garages, and patio decking all over the Island Charlie
  7. Thats interesting Dan were your calculations mostly on tides with a slight wind allowance and would they have been much differant allowing for more windage for the timber above water or would the extra effect of tide on the submerged part cancel that out? I wonder if the boffins have been busy calculating that at teh uni today Charlie
  8. Yes you did Arrived at work all calm and it remained that way most of the day Dry too except for lunchtime when I wanted to change the lines on the boat. Fingers crossed for another soon Charlie
  9. Hi Chris I would second what others have said about talking to the Members about their own boats. you should get a warts and all review that the press reports can not give you. Allthough Tom is in the business of selling Jennaux's he is also a good source of General information . Without doubt trying a few if trips are offered is the best way . If the weather is nice and the fish are playing it will be even better The petrol/diesel debate is a big issue but remember that deregation on red diesel ends Nov 2008 when the cost of diesel to liesure boats will increase . and even the trade do not know how much it will increase . Happy hunting Charlie
  10. Hi Paul I hope the recipes go well, but I tend to like the fact that most of us do not eat them so the majority are released. I will ask the dredgers but I would not hold out any hope on that one. As for the gear for the eels I tend to use heavy trace line even for cod traces just in case. 90lb minimum usually more like 125plus. I think my rigs for whiting are on 60lb line, this has dual purpose of strength and prevents tangles. Charlie
  11. Hi Pete Do you get many eels from the one close by then? and when do the Portlanders expect to start building their new sheds? mind you with this wind it will probably be mnore like Brighton Charlie
  12. most of my earlier post was tongue in cheek. Except for the part about looking out for the timber. As I had the numbers. Those numbers are close to another wreck out there, so it may be worth a look in a couple of seasons I have just seen the wood raft on the TV and it looks a bit nasty. Take care out there when the weather allows. Charlie
  13. We need to keep an eye out for that cargo, I do not fancy hitting that lot Paul maybe you need to offer one of your prizes for the first to get the Lat Long of the wreck. My Money is on Pat Carling or Peter Thanks for the warning message Charlie
  14. We are also a bit keen to get out But the windows seem to shut as quickly as they arrive. The long range I saw for castaways comp weekend is looking better Charlie
  15. Thanks dave can you email me the pictures at full quality Cheers Charlie
  16. Nice fish Paul there are a few big ones out there amongst those whiting and pout. I thought you did not like the taste. I checked your boat this morning, all is well Charlie
  17. Hi Paul The promise of taking him and a mate wrecking has slowed the moans, until the weather stops it again next weekend. Can you tel from the book when the whiting and Flounders stop being recorded? out of interest Charlie
  18. Well done all those that got out, it seems you both had some target fish. I decided that the weather window looked too small, [not a good decision it seems] and had to listen to Dan moan all day . while topping up the brownie points with more jobs from Wendy's list. It would be good to know when the flounders and whiting usually depart. Charlie
  19. Thanks Paul Charlie
  20. Welcome back Terry I hope that you get out soon as it seems the winter fish have not gone yet. Charlie
  21. Having seen the forecast for Sunday I thought I would call the shop. It looks unlikely that the comp will be on, but the final decision will be made tomorrow [Friday]. Charlie
  22. Hi Alun Those weather windows look a little bit small to me. I think I had better top up the Brownie points instead If you get out Tight lines and be safe Charlie
  23. Hi Rob What a coincidence thats what I was on my trip to the Falklands after the conflict on HMS Nottingham. I was made Chief while away. The RN must be short of Matelots now, if they take civvies on to bring the ship back from Gib Charlie
  24. Hi Rob Its been 23 years since I left the Nottingham so I may have forgotten what two Ollys at Full Power burn. But 4 tons an hr was what I remembered. Your Brother in Law must have some clout, is he the skipper? Or the RN has changed a bit Blimey Dom A Gallon per foot thats 5280 gallons per mile, or at 20 knots 105600 gallons per hr I think its about 264 gallons per ton [Memory again may be wrong] Thats 400 tons per hour 100 times more than a type 42 destroyer OUCH no wonder the cruises are dear I better show Wendy It will make the Volvo D4260 look frugal Charlie
  25. Sam, I have done the Fishing bit many times in some interesting places. But although in charge of the power, from the Machinery Control Room I have never had a drive. Mike an interesting break down 0.5 ltr per mile per head Two man boat at 1 ltr/mile or 25 miles per 25l fuel tank. I believe that is close to what some of our trailer boats use at 50/60 ltrs to the RIPs and Back and thats without Air Conditioning, Prepared Meals, Beer. and an F~~~~~g big gun to keep the french trawlers away Charlie
