  1. Nice one Carol Sam tells me you were so excited when he saw you that you were struggling to talk Great photo for the scrap book Charlie
  2. I am afaid its all part of the learning process Dan Try a variety of methods, baits etc in a known fishy area and success will come Its down to some luck, good bait, skills and Rod Hours My advice would be to keep trying, keep the rigs and tactics simple and persivere If you are in an area known for certain species, learn a bit about targeting that species and go for it Ie Xray Simple running ledger, 4 ft trace 40lb mono, 4/0 hook Fished hard on the bottom Whole squid, sandeel or half a mackeral fillet [cut longways] keep the baits fresh [new every 20 to 30 mins] and Rays should come amongst the doggies. Ignore the temptation to move away from the dogs and to change tactics target the small bait robbing fish, as that will weaken your chances with the bigger fish. Tight lines Charlie

  9. Hi I suppose that option 3 is the only way to try and get the funds that the NFSA need I have no idea haw many affiliated Members or full Members they have, but will the funds raised by option three raise twice as much as they lost from the government? I realise that many will know that I am not the NFSA's biggest fan, because I find it hard to recollect what they have managed to achieve recently Perhaps someone from the NFSA board could expand on their comment about "recent considerable improvements" I hope that if we support option 3 the NFSA can grow some teeth and work with the new Angling Developement Board on the very important issues that are needed to maintain our british fish stocks and gain recognition for the value of our recreational angling to the economy Charlie
  10. Charlie I too tend to take the reels outside when cleaning over the years I have started to strip them over a tray or washing up bowl to catch the elusive small parts when I drop them. That tip may help in the future Charlie
  11. PAUL It is not unusual for our list to be a late entry, I think other Clubs start their comps earlier Charlie
  12. I doubt they would have a website I used to live just around the corner and its a back garden production line Charlie

  21. Adam Who are you dealing with at PMS? We had simular problems with two 40 HP Honda 4 strokes so they should have an idea what was required to fix them. 23. Thanks Dave's Actually Matt is able to beat the prices from both your sources so I will probably go back to him Nice to support the local businesses. On the plotter though they could not get what I wanted or anywhere near the price I paid Charlie
  24. What a great fish hell of a catch, and a wonderfull angling jesture to catch and release a fish that makes the existing record look small. I hope that the angler gets the praise he deserves in the Press I have read through some of the forum comments, It is worryng to see the Anti Angling views getting such a strong following. Charlie

    Rope

Rob I would think that 10mm nylon is more than strong enough if you are happy hauling it. when you have buoyed it up there will be hardly any weight to pull in. I would suggest that a little more chain would help set the anchor and using as big a lifting buoy as you are able to stow will help to hold the weight. If you are unable to splice the join I could help you with that if you can get the ropes to me Charlie
