  1. Mike have I missed something here? You do not seem to be complaining about blatent advertising om this thread Charlie
  2. Tight lines Gordon, oh and have a good holiday as well Charlie
  3. It is essential that we are aware that the final decision to go to see rests with the boat owner/skipper. As he has the knowledge of his boat and crews capability. He must make his own weather checks and decision. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT GO. The Committee can and will give guidlines and call off some comps if the weather is as poor as yesterday. but with such a variety of boats and areas to fish it is a hard decision to make. To be honest the Members have usually made it themselves anyway. We have in the past fished comps "Harbour Only" but nowadays that could be several harbours and the fairness would depend on which comp you were fishing. Bag weights Portland, species comps Portland, Christchurch and not so good at our base harbour in Poole. IMHO any SE forcast is a bad one. and an Easterly limits the fishing and catching from Poole Charlie
  4. Be interested to hear how you get on with it Adam I have a simular unit for the Volvo, It is not a part that came with the engine so I need to test it before I build it into the dash. It seems well worth fitting to keep an eye on the effeciency of the boat Charlie
  5. Thanks Guys I had a really great day away from work and only part of it building the boat I hope Dave also had a good one CU at Parkstone Yacht Club on Thursday night Charlie
  6. Thats what its all about a nice day out plenty of nice fish and those not required all put back well done you Charlie
  7. Not exactly a quiet sunday sailing trip on the Frisky Fox More like a white knuckle ride at Alton Towers Hell of an adrenalin rush though Charlie
  8. Alun all the local beaches are sandy but below the mid tide line it turns to very soft grey mud. and the tide rise and fall is amongst the higest recorded anywhere. This give the sea that awful muddy colour [so fish hunt by sent.] and the massive tidal flows It does not effect the fishing too bad and is helped by huge worm beds on the mudflats and a very good population of crabs around places ike Hinkley point power station a lot of the small eels are feeding on the worms and crabs and rockfish. any well scented bait will usually work Charlie
  9. Nice Thornback Charlie well done Charlie
  10. Well done Sam on passing the course so well and for taking the excitment in your stride another story for the repetoire Charlie
  11. Tomo I have the moulds you are after but at the moment they are on loan If I get them back this week I will let you know Charlie
  12. Nice one Guys Very glad you had a good day for it,and plenty of fish, shame more boats could not go. Alun the only reason you get eels in the shallow water is the murky water They just are totally unaware of the bright sunlight. Charlie

  18. Tight lines guys Like James we are still on the sidelines Hope you keep Paul busy with catch reports Charlie
  19. Paul If you need any clarification of which comp is which call me I hope that many book in, the weather allows you all to get out and get among the fish and score some early points. Tight lines Charlie
  20. PHC ensure that all boats using the Harbour are charged and should pay Harbour Dues They are charged as a daily charge for short stay visitors and annually for berth or mooring holders. Duncan you will have paid annual fee and if you visit a marina in Poole should not be charged again, if you display the sticker that is all the evidence you need that you have paid. according to PHC this fee is used to finance the operation of the harbour and is charged regardless of if you are just tied to a pontoon or spending the day moving around the harbour. The daily fee we have to charge for this is about 30% of the berthing fee for overnight visitors and is not usually well received.
