  1. Hi Paul I remember getting a 40lb fish into that net OK for Dan. "anything bigger, and its not coming aboard - I wish " just how big are you wishing for mate It will soon be time when the divers pack up for the winter [Well most of them] and the inshore wrecks can be fished. Tight lines Charlie
  2. 0240 ??? Seems a tad late chaps
  3. I am sure we can all look forward to a transfer to that Club
  4. Hi Adam Sorry to hear about the delays mate, It must be very frustrating for you. Have you been out? or are you stocking up Brownie points? Charlie
  5. Hi Trevor We used to work on 1" of pitch altering the WOT RPM by about 200 revs Therfore 2" over pitch could reduce the Max revs achieved by about 400RPM These were for an outboards 3 bladed prop. Not only will you not get the WOT that you should, you would also be overloading the engine across the whole speed/power range. Prior to my time looking after OBM's I was unaware of this, I ran a new Yamaha on a standard prop. after a few years this overloading caused a big end bearing to go. A costly repair was needed. Charlie
  6. Nice one Tony I am sure you will have a great time learning all about your new craft What a great excuse to slip on down to Rockley and get afloat Hope she proves to be just what you and Lorraine wanted Very tight lines Charlie
  7. Hi Adam If it keeps getting blown off "Alfresco" may even be available Tight lines all Charlie
  8. As other have said the net is thankfully now the prefered choice on nearly all occasions Congers can be chin gaffed but they need to be well played out so that the aim and gaffing can be done as accuratly as possible so the fish can survive. Out of interest Dan caught a good fish when he was eleven that we netted to land it, but I put the gaff through its chin so he could hold it for a photo. None of the angling magazines would publish the pictures because of the gaff. I am sure a junior with a 55lb eel would have won something without it. Charlie
  9. a belated Happy Birthday and anniversary Paul and Helen I hope that you did not get an Iron or Hoover from Helen But I expect she had something fishy Charlie
  10. Cool I had missed the earlier posts, or forgot after returning from holiday Glad a few of these are being landed, If we have the youngsters I wonder where the breeding stock are? Congratulations Mike another potential Club Record to FF. Charlie
  11. Zed we had a couple of very keen Kayak anglers posting on here a while back I am sure if you searce you will find a lot of posts Charlie
  12. well done Coddy and Paul for following this up and to those that correctly identified the fish, as I said earlier I hope its an indication of some of these arriving in our waters Is that a new record Paul? Charlie
  13. Stale fuel seems to give smaller engines more problems than larger ones 2 strokes can suffer more if the fuel is left in the bowls of the carbs over winter due to the fuel evaporating and leaving the oil to go hard in the needles and jets which leads to poor starting and running in the spring If it were me I would get as much out as possible and put it in the car, when the engines are winterised make sure the carbs are drained off after the engine is stopped In the spring top the tanks up with fresh fuel on top of whatever is left, and the percentage of old fuel will be low and insignificant. Charlie
  14. Sorry I did not mean to add confusion I just thought it was agreed to run cancelled comps at the next opportunity. I am sure Paul and Adam are discussing this and considering the various implications ref the tides etc. and I may have missed a post that states when the comp will be fished Tight lines Charlie
  15. Nice to see that replies are coming. However the answer seems to elaberate the ways in which they are considering quote "controls on the number of fish that can be retained ) for recreational and hobby fisherman" I did not read anything about giving more power to do the same against commercial over fishing by British or Foriegn boats I for one will not be happy if we end up by paying a licence fee just to control/limit catches in the RSA sector. I am sure "managing recreational fisheries" will not save our countries fish stocks Charlie
  16. For interest If a broker sells a boat that is at the Yacht Club and does the viewings here the Club can claim 1% of the sale price from the broker. It comes from their cut, but is seldom claimed as we are a Members Club If it is a private sale at the Club nothing is charged/collected Brokers vary greatly in the amount [%] they want out of the deal, and in how hard they try to sell the boat for you. Charlie
  17. Well done to you Both Great to see that you are maintaining your results Charlie
  18. That sort of weather is great fun When observed from a nice warm shoreside cafe through some strong glass Better luck with the weather and the comp next weekend Charlie
  19. Try putting her on Boats and Outboards It costs nothing so you have nothing to lose Good luck Charlie
  20. I know there were some teething problems Two Ways changed from an outboard to this engine a year or so ago and had a problem with starting the engine at times I believe it turned out to be very badly set injectors and its all fixed now. I also believe that they are very pleased with the power and economy they got from the engine on the Cygnus 23 I have the D4 in the new boat so only time afloat will tell how good the engine and DPH drive package is. When talking to a couple of boat builders at the boatshow that had fitted D4's they were pleased with power and economy so I am hopefull Charlie
  21. And me a tiny drop in a very big pond but all drops count [we hope] Charlie
  22. I bet you bought her the earings and the rod but I know who uses the rod When we decided to build the boat, I bought Wendy a new frying pan, but even though I wrapped up other "Nicer" presents and put them in the box inside the Pan. I was still thretened with the pan if I ever did it again. Rich It has taken years to get the message through to people that I really do like new fishing gear more than clothes so best of luck next year Charlie
  23. Nice one Alan Did he get the right up his catch and release record for big bass deserves? Charlie
  24. If they fish with 80lb gear on balloons for mackeral I wonder what they use when not using "Micky Mouse " Gear Fighting chair and 130lb gear for doggies and whiting Smells of somthing a bit more Farm like than fishy Charlie
