  1. My new Lowrance arrived yesterday Its the muts nuts Hard to get in the UK but easy in the states, PM me if you want to know where mine came from go for this years model the definition is better, daylight viewing is great While on the subject does anyone know where to get the best priced Navionics gold charts? Charlie
  2. Hi Dan Glad the trailer is sorted and sounds as if the first night trip went well In my experiance its always worth taking some bait with you on the evening trips, as the slightest hick up costs you the time and daylight you need to collect bait. If there are no delays and you get fresh bait the old stuff can be used to groundbait so it does not go to waste. Charlie.
  3. Hi Alun Nice one mate, if retirement means you can select the best days and get out, I am sure you will enjoy it and eat a lot of fish Charllie
  4. Hi Duncan You ought to try being nice to all the yachties going out on a nice day moaning about the lack of wind. Charlie
  5. Hi Paul I am sure, as Tom says its just niggles. When you are ready for the full repair talk to me. I have plenty of materials at home and only a couple of small glassing jobs to tidy up so I should have plenty of bits left over. and hopefully more time to help you with the repairs Charlie
  6. Sorruy to hear the new boat is taking in water, If I can help Paul give me a call have you spoken to Orkney about this yet? Charlie
  7. Thanks Duncan
  8. Thanks Duncan That was the one, looking at all the tans we were having a better summer in 2005 Can you email it accros to wchapman212@ntlworld.com Thanks mate I hope the next family gathering gets that type of weather Charlie
  9. I have spent ages trying to find the photo of the Clubs boats gathered around great white on a family day by Brownsea in 2005 The photo was taken by Dan and Rob from an inflatable, and shows about 8 club boats rafted up Does anyone have a copy? Charlie
  10. Condolences to you and your family Kam at this very bad time I am sure that time will ease the pain and you will remember all the good times you enjoyed together. our best wishes are with you mate Charlie
  11. Well done Mike A red bream is rare now You should have popped it on your new scales, taken a photo and I am sure we would have a new Club Record Charlie
  12. I hope that it is better than one of its predesessors, if it went out in anything above a force three it shook itself to bits. all roar and spray and bloody useless for what it was intended for. Charlie
  13. Sounds like a good idea I believe in Burnham they have a system of a new Member being buddied up to the person who proposed him to join the Club, The experianced Member then becomes the mentor for the novice to the Club. That system would work for the where to take the boat but not so good for how to fish. Charlie
  14. Nice one mate A very nice report Was that fish during the Bass only comp? If so you will be well up the list with such great fish. Perhaps I could jump aboard some time to get some of this knowledge for next season. It will be catch and release if I get lucky so the stock will be safe Charlie
  15. Well done mate I know you have been counting the days down until today I hope the rest of the season brings some settled weather and good fishing You will now need to form a mid week fishing section of the Club Have a good retirement Charlie
  16. As Sea trials go that was a little over the top Can you imagine how the poor owner must have felt, he would have waited ages fot the boat to be built with all the hassle of choosing things, chasing the build team etc. The launch date finally arrives and then she gets dropped I expect the Yard Manager felt worse than the owner. well he would if it was my boat charlie
  17. James now your fishing time is limited I am sure you will get afloat during your holiday Tight lines Charlie
  18. Mike after a long career in the RN you get to be very quick at wit and some of it can be a bit sharp. also the skin thickens to shrug off things that others find offensive in jokes and other comments. I have friends who had to be checked for sanity because of their nature and the Jobs they did [RM Armoury] But over the last few years I have realised that trading Mad off the wall comments with you is an unfair contest. I bow to the master on these things. and remember how rapidly you accepted the tag of Mad Mike when I first used it. Yesterdays comments were advising others to accept this Too,I hope in a friendly way. Charlie
  19. Well done Guys Good to see so many able to take part and the standard of the winning fish was so High. Charlie
  20. I likethe comment "Never soar higher than you are willing to fall" and "beginners should not go higher than 6 to 8 ft" It must be my age but I am not to willing to fall from 8 ft at about 40 knots, That has to hurt Charlie
  21. I think you lot down West need a little more water in your scotch Trying to compete in off the wall remarks with MM will send you the same way as him. Charlie
  22. Glad to see you got out Paul, it looks as if we had quite a few taking part in this weeks comp. It looks as if this format for a Bass only competition got a very positive reaction from the Members Well done Charlie
  23. Nice one Guys It must have been good to watch the fish strike and then play them Great sport Charlie
  24. Tough to put an estimate on the one that got away but definately one of the strongest I've ever hooked With your catch record that would make it a very good fish indeed Alan. I am glad that once again you got amongst the specimen Bass, well done boys When I was asked to organise a bass only comp I picked a big tide in July because of your success last year. Two 10lb plus fish seem to show that the plan worked Charlie
  25. Hi Mike When we have her finished and ready to launch we will decide if we slip her in quietly for sea trials and have a drink on her later or wether to go for a grander launch party. The plan of using the booze left over from my 50th birthday has gone, because the boys and I have drunk most of it already, you get very thirsty rubbing down in the summer. Paul I meant to ask the webmaster why my avitar changed, I think it will soon change again when I get a good shot of the boat. Charlie
