A belated Happy Birthday mate I hope you had a good un Charlie

Well done Dave I am sure it could be identified from the photo by someone If it were weighed I am sure it would be a club record now that we have agreed to expand the Clubs existing lists and sub divide the various species, I can not remember either of the two probable species being on the record list at the moment. Nice looking fish, It would be good if we are starting to see giltheads as they are a bigger species Charlie

Hi all We have one of these for a 6 mtr RIB we were aprehensive about it at first but it is spot on The RIB lines itself up and drives on, simply stop the engine and tilt it up after use and the whole boat and engine is out of the water. To launch its engine down then started and a gentle reverse pulls it off the pontoon The leading edge sinks when the boat goes on but as the boat weight spreads over more floats it gets higher out of the water. The other system is the Hydro hoist , where you dock the boat in a frame over air tanks, when you pump air in, it forces the salt water out and lifts the boat clear of the water. The downside is that you need a berth in the first place and then have to buy the dock system. our costs that would be 2.5 k per yaer for the berth plus about 6k to buy the Hydro hoist in the first place. Graham i have no personal knowledge of the boat But I was not too impressed with the larger redfins when i last looked at a show I am sure one of teh angiling mags had a report on the redfin, I think it was probably the BFM if that helps Charlie

We used to get a few at night out of Poole But I think the sheltered harbour at Portland is more comfortable Charlie

Its a shame that the fisheries can not concentrate on getting rid of the people who are well known for landing "Black Fish" Just because some charter skippers can now offer their punters a bigger platform and more comfort does not mean they are catching more than anglers on a 35ft boat I am sure that many in the fisheries would love the resources to chase the illegal fishing harder, but targetting charter boats appears to be a very "Soft" option. I am very sorry to say that the internal admin at the Yacht Club seems to have gone amok several times Boat show tickets have arrived and the tickets I had booked have been sold This has happened again today As I am going away at the weekend for a week I do not think that i can get the promised tickets prior to going I am not amused But feel it is better to let everyone know now and cancel the ordered tickets than to have you trying to get them from the boys next week when Wendy and I are away. If my boss has hidden them away I will know when he is back tomorrow and will Phone you Very sorry to let you down Charlie

Nice one Carol Sam tells me you were so excited when he saw you that you were struggling to talk Great photo for the scrap book Charlie

I am afaid its all part of the learning process Dan Try a variety of methods, baits etc in a known fishy area and success will come Its down to some luck, good bait, skills and Rod Hours My advice would be to keep trying, keep the rigs and tactics simple and persivere If you are in an area known for certain species, learn a bit about targeting that species and go for it Ie Xray Simple running ledger, 4 ft trace 40lb mono, 4/0 hook Fished hard on the bottom Whole squid, sandeel or half a mackeral fillet [cut longways] keep the baits fresh [new every 20 to 30 mins] and Rays should come amongst the doggies. Ignore the temptation to move away from the dogs and to change tactics target the small bait robbing fish, as that will weaken your chances with the bigger fish. Tight lines Charlie

Mike i am sure to save dissapointment you may be able to arrange a short stay on the Quay or the Poole Quay boat haven while you register and land your catch Talk to Sam if you are going to try this method Wendy and I am away so I will not be out Tight lines Charlie
-
Sorry to hear of your problems Adam That is hell of a price for the repair is that for the short engine? I am sure you will get many offers of trips, we may even get Alfresco afloat in time to offer you a trip before you can get OOTB back on song All the best mate Charlie

Hi I suppose that option 3 is the only way to try and get the funds that the NFSA need I have no idea haw many affiliated Members or full Members they have, but will the funds raised by option three raise twice as much as they lost from the government? I realise that many will know that I am not the NFSA's biggest fan, because I find it hard to recollect what they have managed to achieve recently Perhaps someone from the NFSA board could expand on their comment about "recent considerable improvements" I hope that if we support option 3 the NFSA can grow some teeth and work with the new Angling Developement Board on the very important issues that are needed to maintain our british fish stocks and gain recognition for the value of our recreational angling to the economy Charlie

Charlie I too tend to take the reels outside when cleaning over the years I have started to strip them over a tray or washing up bowl to catch the elusive small parts when I drop them. That tip may help in the future Charlie
-
PAUL It is not unusual for our list to be a late entry, I think other Clubs start their comps earlier Charlie
-
I doubt they would have a website I used to live just around the corner and its a back garden production line Charlie
-

Way to go It looks like we are not the only ones preaching catch and release I believe that is the second record smashed recently but not claimed for the sake of the fish I hope like the chap who landed the big Thresher , this angler gets the praise he deserves Charlie
