Pete called me while we were out fishing yesterday The forecast was all over the place so a safety first call was the only answer. Fishing yesterday was very slow, but the weather was nice. If you are out today have a safe one and tight lines Charlie

Pete I thought you just know where they all are. You are definatly the best person i know at this game, perhaps we need some tips on how to get our memories to work like yours Charlie

Devon Trawlermen Convicted Of Multiple Fishing
great white replied to munterhunter's topic in In The News
In other country's they would have lost everything, boat gear even the van they load the illegal fish into I bet the nets are worth more than the total fines and you can be sure the boats worth more than a pathetic 13.9 k total fine good to see enforcement but not much of a deterent is it Charlie -
Would not mind a selection of the jigheads and leadheads Rich Thanks mate I have not passed your number on yet, will try again tomorrow Charlie

I have just had a look and a few positions could still change for the three trophys for this series. Go for it and may the best man win Charlie

Hi All Looks like the weather will be fishable for those that want to fish the final round of our species competitions. Please email, post here or call Pete or myself to confirm who is fishing. I may not be out on Sunday so do not leave it to a VHF call. Tight lines be safe Charlie

Adam She looks good, and I know you have done the research If the engines are good is there a need to change straight away? why not start with the other upgrades first? I believe its better to get a solid boat under you and that one certainly looks the part. I think a closer look is required mate always postpone the wedding Charlie

Having your boat trying to bash your head in while you are underneath clearing the rope from between the P bracket and the prop is not funny. add to that the worry about all the other noises you hear while under, and the fact that you are cold and not good at holding your breath for more than about a minute, the job seems to take forever. In the end getting the boat back in action , safely and without a call to the RNLI it was woth getting your hair wet. Add a wife and two small kids to the mixture and a relaxing day would not be an accurate description. I like shaft drives too, but think the next one may be on a leg. Charlie

Have everything crossed But the forecasts look poor Have heard of a few decent whiting out there, it would be nice to wet a line and get a couple Charlie

Hi We had a sea trial of a 35ft boat and jet drive It was a basic fit out demonstrator and went well in the calm water, although the back of the boat was noisey, no sound proofing was installed at all. The boat did wonderfull tricks over large waves when you put the lever full astern at the crest of the wave to prevent take off. then back to full ahead down the wave. Both the boys had a drive and very quickly mastered the spinning on a sixpence. I docked the boat ok but you have to remember which way she goes when the lever is thrown astern, lots of sideways movement. She wandered about at slow speed, but so does a stern drive. Charlie

Nice report Glad to se someone got out. I have your catch report, is Terry sending one as I had ne report of the flounder? Charlie

As I said at the meeting this comp looks to be cursed by the Weather I have left it as long as possible but do not see any improvement for Sunday Unfortunatly that means that the competition has again been postponed by a week. If we do not get better weather next week I wil postpone it for a little longer as I would not like it to clash with the Open. Charlie
-
WOW and its still rising We will be out there trying to win something , and I am sure there will be plenty of competition on the day Fingers crossed that this weather has gone Charlie
-
Nice report Paul And interesting to read everyones views on keeping fish. There are no wings on me, and although I return my share. I like to eat some that I catch so I try not to over preach conservation However the harbour is about 90% nursery area, so bass taken in it can not be kept, [they actually should not be delibratly fished for ether] That is until tomorrow November 1st Charlie
-
Well fished James what a catch is such weather Great shame about the lost fish and the undersize ones but I expect the others were in the same boat{Excuse the Pun} Charlie
-
You are mad matey when I awoke to the sound of wind and rain I was glad that we had postponed the comp. Both the boys first comments this morning were "Glad you called it off dad" I had decided that even if we are gagging to get out, that weather was best left alone. Glad you got a couple of fish for your efforts and got back safe and sound. Charlie

Bob I have to disagree mate although I also do not see the logic of not taking the prize I personally do not see Jim fishing as taking a place away from another angler, surely he deserved to fish the final even if just to see how well he could do. Before anyone asks I have never met the guy, but as I said yesterday he qualified on results and won on merit so IMHO should have accepted the prize. Nice jesture though, I wonder if he would have done the same if it meant James winning the big prize for the second year running. Did the winners Club get anything this year? or did us giving the money to charity change that. Charlie
-
Well done James You have again done the Club proud Shame that the weather was so bad, but you must be pleased with the top three of such a big competition. IMHO Jim qualified for the comp in the same way as all the rest and fished the final on level terms, so if he won on the day well done to him. There would have been many international anglers and loads of top Club anglers trying to get to the finals, and ten good anglers on the boat yesterday. So that supports how well you have done to get there in the first place and to finish top three again. Hope you enjoyed your ride home Charlie
-
Thanks Trevor The PM makes sense now I hope all the work goes well and we see Otter out there soon. If you are in Poole bring her in to the Club so I can be nosey. I am still pondering the new boat, if it goes ahead it will need to be bigger than GW, as thats the main reason to change up. If you need a lifering PM me again, I think I have a spare Charlie
