We had a look around on Sat really liked the new Rodman 770 but at 58K it is out of my league, I looked at the pheatons briefly then could not find them again later Avoided the redfins as the salesmen are arrogant and ignorant of even their boats. was amazed to see that the boats were hard aground at the bow at LW and the salesman were still just sat in the wheelhouse. I suppose the boat belongs to someone else. I spoke to the warrior chap and he hoped to have the bigger boat at the London show. Will be going back on Friday for a working breakfast at the show and another look around. After the show realised that if there is going to be a "Great White Too" it will have to be part built at home again. perhaps its time to have a closer look at Prodigy. Charlie

Plenty of boats there to see and quite a few on the water The smaller boats seem to have access to the water at most times and I am sure if you were serious you could arrange a trial spin, we saw Warrior 165 and 175 and others doing demo runs, the cheeta cat was there not sure what other cats my advice woud be get there early, go and look on the inner pontoons before the rush and arrange a spin, prior to looking at the other interesting bits and pieces. I have just managed to get hold of six extra tickets at half price

Happy Birthday mate I have just seen this months BFM and your are equal third [6th at worst] with just a few contenders that could catch you, but by my reconing only three could overtake you so the worst you can do is actually equal 6th with two others[9th at worst] so a birthday present suitable for a trip to Guernsey may be called for. Well done to you again. great to see the Club represented in the final again Bad luck Billy who decided to compete in the weymouth matches, for his weymouth Club and is currently 11th Nice to see our Club represented so well 18th equal Peter Russell Snr 37th equal Paul Dore 40th equal Colin Moors and Gordon Moore Five anglers in the top 52 Well done lads Charlie

Shame I do not have a faster boat so I could fish the Alderney banks for Turbot But such is life I suppose I was awaiting any late responses as a couple of boats that were out have not sent a catch report in. I will calculate specimen sizes tonight and update this post. Charlie

Did he get his fish though?????? Charlie

I would have and probably should have done that on Sunday The main reason why I didn't was getting the boys to rapidly reel in the other five lines. all with 1 1/2 lb leads on. my boat is rigged for an easy system of letting the anchor go. On the very end of the anchor warp is a buoy that will not fit through the alderney ring. I just undo the rope from the side cleat and let all the warp pay out, when it reaches the buoy just chuck it overboard and you are drifting. Charlie

Considering you have a 7000LD allready my recomendation would be a shimano TLD 20 I have had mine for years and its as good as ever, nice tough reel with a great drag system. Its fairly narrow which makes it easy to control the recovery of the line, Sam and Dan both use mine without problem, Although Sam now seems to prefer the TLD15 [ but thats only slightly bigger than a 7000] my TLD 25 is bigger and is loaded with heavier braid but is usually left unused in preferance for the other two. I will drink to that you can only fish to catch, its difficult to ensure that the fish are big when you get them. Charlie

Some nice fish recorded well done Our Day was a bit slower using the new timings we thought we would try to get the two slack periods in, which we did. But I had not seen the amount of wind that we had, in any of the forecasts that I checked. During the slack periods the fishing was difficult to say the least. we had 2 congers 2 tope Dogs pout lots of macs etc But the only Ray was a decent fish that came in the middle of the tide run, it surfaced a long way behind the boat and dived again about 30 yards behind the boat. I could not gain anything on it for a while so eventually had to tighten the drag a bit and give it more muscle. Bad idea made 10 metres then line parted. [30lb braid] Dans 24lb tope had been around the lines earlier so it may have been weakened. Unless it was an undulate it would not have won , but it would have been good to get our only ray onboard. Nice to get so many boats out there trying. Charlie

Nice one james I have seen the old wake them up with a wet conger trick once, with a much smaller eel. the sleepy angler was so scared he nearly jumped off of the charter boat. Great catch mate and nice to hear that a lot went back [For Sunday?] Charlie
