  1. Hi all May is a good time for the RIPs 1 point you should note, last time we fished it [2 weeks ago] we were in 248ft of water. plenty of Pollack no COD. So if you are thinking of anchoring you will need a long warp. Tight lines Charlie
  2. Rich James is coming so we will be leaving at about 1745 I aim to be back and away from here just before midnight as I am working in the morning. You are welcome if you wish to join us Charlie
  3. Hi All I am Now thinking of going after work on Monday. [1700] as I did not get out today Anyone interested call me tonight. Charlie

  6. Nice fish Great to see it was returned, it deserves a Trophy/Prize for that. Best of luck with the mission accomplished in Sea Angler. Charlie
  7. Billy I have just spoken to Bob and re scheduled the trip to Friday after work. Tried to call you but both phones engaged, if you are on line and read this can you call me. I will not be on line as I am decorating, I will put my mobile in my pocket Charlie
  8. The forecast looks better for tomorrow. So I hope they get a great last day. Such a shame after all the planning and anticipation that the weather spoils 2 days out of 4. Have a safe trip back Charlie
  9. I will call Gary tonight and see if he has a photo/report Charlie How do I add a new Thread? or is that another word for a new forum topic? Charlie
  10. Thanks for the update Bob Charlie
  11. Oh I Forgot New Club record Black Bream caught 10 days ago Gary Austin 4lb 9oz Charlie
  12. Hi Colin, Glad to see that you found a few fish on Sunday. Not the monsters that you hoped for but better than we did. Tonights evenoing trip has had to be postponed due to the weather but I will try again. Charlie
  13. A SW in Alderney should allow the boats to shelter behind the island providing they can get in/out of Braye Harbour safely ,SW not a good direction for that. While that may not be the place they would chose to fish at least they would be out. We are all eagerly awaiting news Charlie
  14. ITS OFF we can try again another evening. I hope the boys in Alderney have a better forecast Charlie
  15. Hi Bob , Billy I will check the weather later and call you. I believe the forcast is bvad for Tue but we will see. Charlie
  16. Happy birthday Coddy and Billy I should have filled in the details correctly as itwas also my birthday on the 1st. hope you both had a great day I did Charlie
  17. Hi Bob Perhaps we ought to transfer these posts to another part of the forum, as its not really now about tackle. I am a fan of smoothounds but have not caught that many locally, best on GW 9.5 lb [ Sam insists that I tel you he caught it] I have had some much bigger ones at Selsey. which would be a good venue for a early summer trail away. Perhaps someone may give us a hotspot to try. Charlie
  18. Hi Billy I have tanked Hermits in the past but they are violent little buggers and tear each other to bits, so they are better kept in a sack in the sea. I should not have a problem with that at work Bob/Billy that sounds good. An evening trip on GW always sounds good we could try the patch/ballard/Slates for bream/smoothy's. Have to check the family calender for the best night, I will post again soon or speak tomorrow night. Room for one more Charlie
  19. Boybilly Can you still get live hermits in the tackle shops at Weymouth? If you can, they are the best bait [bar peelers] for smoothounds. I would be interested in getting hold of some to try them off Poole some time. So can you check the supply, WAC used to sell them before it changed hands. Perhaps you could come out one evening on my boat and we can try them. I am sure that another Member or two would join us. Anyone interested?? Charlie

    Battery

From experiance at work,It depends on the use of battery's, how big the boat is and how much weight you want to add to the boat. Most yachts carry two types 1, A high torque starting battery, used mainly to start the engine, charged from the engine when running/ trickle charged when not in constant use by solar panel or shore power. these batterys do not like to be run down to low, as it can damage them internally. 2. One or two large capacity liesure batteries, used to run all other systems. remember that yachts are not usually under engine power for long periods, but still have electronics and electrical system to keep going. these batteries can be run down much lower between charges without damage. but can stand the odd emergancy engine start if required. They can be charged via engine , wind genny, solar panel or shore supply. as stated above a 1, 2 or both type switch is very usefull. I personally have one of each and individual isolating switches from each battery and another isolator used to cross connect. I also have a split charge relay fitted that sends 70% of the charge to the battery that is drawing the most power [Liesure battery] I hope that helps Charlie
  21. Billy Welcome on board. Nice to speak to you on Friday before the trip. and I recieved the report on email so your plaice is in the fish log. well done Charlie
  22. Hi Richard I hope the fishing goes well Before you go I need your Menu choices for the dinner dance Today if poss as I have to tell the hotel tomorrow The menu is on the club pages of this website I would have phoned but do not have your number on my list Thanks Charlie
  23. I hope the saving is worth the hassle sure it will be in the end. More imortant how is the engine? Charlie
  24. My day was very Poor Nice to be out on the boat again, all new toys 100% But No Fish [well 1 pout] and constant hard rain, gave me two moaning kids At 1300 I could take no more moaning and went home. The first time in years I have packed up early while the weather was good enough to fish. I may ask if anyone want to join me next time and leave the kids behind with their mum. Still there is always next time Charlie
  25. Hi Adam I think you should talk to the repair agent and agree how to proceed testing at home in a barrel will not cure it. As Mike says the problem could be a worn casing as well as the old impellor. If the boat was run up and down Langstone Harbour a lot the silt may have got in and erroded the casing/ blocked the waterways. But it could still be the connecting pipework. Charlie
