  1. Thanks Martin Nice tip On the other PC and my work one it seemed to do that in auto. but not on this one. when I go back to view new posts next time it only lists new ones, but as you read down a long list especially between phone calls at lunchtime it is easy to keep rereading ones I have allready opened. Charlie
  2. It must be just us older married guys that are working like slaves to get enough browny points for a couple of trips during the 48 hr comp then. sounds like a good trip even if a bit chilly good luck tomorrow, catch all your specimens before the weekend. Charlie
  3. Can anyone [webmaster] advise I have just changed my PC the new one was not opening the website links, but since I have run the Java download it seems OK now. On the Forum however it does not seem to be recognising which posts have been read. I am using "view new posts" as usual, but as I return from reading and replying to the posts I can not tell which ones have not yet been read. In simple terms please. I am a Marine Engineer not an IT consultant. Cheers Charlie
  4. How about Mad Mike? Lol
  5. Damn missed it. ws it any good? Charlie
  6. Hi Benny very good tackle advice from Mike above. Bait for bream is varied but ragworm tipped with squid strip and just squid heads are very good. Fresh macerel strips 1/2" by 1" is also worth a try. Tight lines Charlie
  7. I have to check my office PC is ok from time to time Martin. Yes Benny I do work there and I know Steve but not that well. please feel free to pop in Charlie
  8. Welcome to the PBSBAC Benny When you get amongst the fish give me a call, email or post on the forum [ or even see me at the Yacht Club] and I will add them to the Fish recorders Log Book. We have no size limits to what is added to the book so please feel free to update me on what you are catching on White Magic. Tight lines Charlie
  9. Hi Benny If you have time to chat look me up in the Haven office at Parkstone YC before you go out fishing and we can discuss some marks. or give me a call in my office at the Club. Charlie C
  10. Humphrey has told me that he is hoping to fish on Sat on Ow Much and will enter the comp probably with Neil Bryan. The more the merrier Charlie
  11. Yes thats the one 79515 I could not remember the number, great hook in 6/0 or 8/0 good for tope. Just dont bully the fish. Charlie
  12. Bob have you missed out Dave M's Daughter? Nice to see the numbers growing, at least it may keep the boys on their toes. Charlie
  13. Fine wire hooks are great for bait presentation. But a good fish from deep water and a large tide can easily straighten them during the time it takes to get the fish to the boat. I have never found Bait presentation for the bigger fish to be a problem using the thicker gauge uptide style hooks. I used mustads for years but recently have converted to the sharper Viravas. Charlie
  14. Sounds like you had a good day Paul. I will add your bass to the book. We heard you on the VHF once but you did not hear our reply. Mark has my sympathy as I also lost a bass of about 4lb on the surface next to the boat, while the net was coming out of the cabin. It was a great day to be out Charlie
  15. All those bent hooks sounds like the hooks are to weak or the Clutch is to tight. I use Viravas Big Mouth Extra's in 6/0 They are from Veals Mail order, They are both sharp and tough and the small barb makes them easier to get into the fish. At least you were among the bigger fish, so thats a good sign, screeming reels sounds like tope or big smoothounds to me. Better luck next time Charlie
  16. Welcome back Helen Nice to have the webmistress back afloat and showing paul how it's done again. Your Ray is in the book Charlie
  17. Had a day out with Wendy and the Boys today. As we had a busy weekend the plan was not to go far so we settled for some banks by the spoil grounds. Lots of mackerel so bait was not a problem, but we had a very busy day with the dreaded Dogfish so plenty were needed. Finished the day with over 40 LSD About the same number of mackerel [many of which are in the freezer ready for next weekend] a 1lb 8oz red gurnard and a nice 14lb 8oz Undulate Ray. A great day with good weather [that allowed for lots of brews of tea and freshly cooked lunch while we fished] and hectic fishing. Finished off with a few beers and barbaqued Mackerel in the garden. Heard of several other good fish caught Helen Dore had a 9lb Thornback and John Manser reported a Blonde of 27lb I think it was to his rod but I am awaiting confirmation on that one. All in all good signs of plenty of fish for the weekend, lets pray for the same weather. Tight lines Charlie

Peter Nice day to take a day off. were these on Shy Talk, and would you like them added to the book if they were? Charlie
  19. When I fished out of Pompey anyone targeting them would insist on large ragworm baits. Fished in shallow warm water over mud . an incoming tide on a hot day when the mud had been warmed by the sun was the prefered times. The only one I have had onboard was caught by Wendy over rough ground in deep water on fresh Mackerel. So that blows the above theory to bits. It went 34lb by the way. Charlie
  20. Nice one Billy A few more trips like that and the kids willbe nagging you to join the Club. It would be good to get a few more juniors involved and then we could look at doing more for them. Charlie
  21. Nice one Adam Confirmed in the book as new Club Record Can someone update the website record list please. The Small Eyed was not disallowed it was not big enough thats all well done for an alternative plan that worked. Charlie
  22. Nice one Billy I received the emails and will add to the book later Charlie
  23. Nice photo Paul and hell of a nice boat. Does anyone know her dimensions? I would think that it probably draws a lot of water and would struggle to get into Poole Harbour let alone the Yacht Club. Charlie
  24. Hi Billy You can record anything you have caught and would like added to the book, as long as it was not caught on a charter boat and was caught in the Club area. Charlie
  25. Hi Newboy If you want the fish recorded in the book I will need to know your real name and the weight details of the fish, Send me a email if you are shy Nice fish Charlie
