  1. I think they may have come with the Bus Pass, Jack. There have to be some benefits to maturity. Terry.
  2. Not too far away, Jack; the Ledge. Having caught a garfish, I thought there might also be mackerel about so I tried feathering. After a short while I got bored and just left the feathers dangling about
  3. Gordon caught the cuttle, Kam, but I don't know if he ate it or saved it for bait. For me, it would have been straight in the pan but I think Gordon is a little more conservative when it comes to throwing things down his throat. It was a good size, though. Terry.
  4. Thank God for all this; I was about to chop my Warrior in for a bl@@dy Orkney. Terry.
  5. Yes, I know it's a bit late; I've been very busy, o/k. Saturday I went out with Gordon on Enticer and, although not a purple day, it was fun to be out in the sun on a flat sea. The reason for this post is, nobody seems to have beaten our catch for variety of species. We had: black bream, doggies (of course), wrasse, pollock, pout, garfish (3, so not a fluke one off), mackerel and a large cuttlefish. I think that's a result, species-wise! And than you, Gordon for a great day out, including bacon butties and tea. What more could man want (leave it, Mike) Terry.
  6. Numbers for mark X please! Terry.
  7. Very nice fish. Any chance of a master class at the next club meeting? Terry.
  8. I think you should consider your status, Jack. You're in danger of getting a reputation as an angler of repute. Soon you'll be getting neighbours dropping hints about a regular supply of quality fish. Terry.
  9. Sorry, don't know why the smilie is in there. I didn't insert it and can't get rid of it. Terry.
  10. I assume you mean the US and Australia, Adam, in which case I think you're correct in your assumption. In those countries they seem to target the money at the people who are going to make an impact on the situation, i.e., the men (and women) on the ground. I'm afraid that here, for every person trying to do a good job, they would have to have at least three people to ensure that a) they have targets to meet, b] to inspect them on a regular basis, thus ensuring that more time is spent preparing for inspections and appearing to be making targets, c) that they don't get more money than is barely adequate, d) that this money is not wasted on anything other that filling out forms and attending Health and Safety meetings. This country is choked because of the Governments paranoia with not trusting organisations to spend the money they are given wisely and letting them use their expertise to make sound judgements. Terry. Smillie removed
  11. Hear, hear! Terry.
  12. Gordon, you have an email. Terry.
  13. Shouldn't be a problem for you, Jack, you seem to be getting very adept at using fractions! (At any opportunity) Terry.
  14. Likewise. Terry.
  15. Actually, Mike, I think you'll find it was Bootsie who said that. And Bernard Bresslaw in the Carry On films. Terry.
  16. Very good, indeed. I trust the real one will at least have chintz curtains! Terry.
  17. See if you can find one from a cheap mobile hands-free kit. I'm sure you know the sort, the ones with the expanding sides that grip when squeezed in. I've still got one kicking about somewhere; if I can find it, I'll let you have it. Terry.
  18. And with good cause, you shameless self publicist! Terry.

    Skate

I might have known it had something to do with strong drink and a woman! Terry.
  20. I would have to agree with Alun. I have a full set of the Fladen Maxximus Solid C's and they serve me for all my fishing and add a great deal of pleasure as they are so light and 'gamey'. In fact, two would probably suffice for most of my fishing, although I use a longer rod for livebaiting and a spinning rod for lure fishing. You should be able to get them at around
  21. Wait for it, wait for it! Form an orderly queue. Terry.
  22. Once again, we are praying to the weather Gods. I thought last week that we were into a settled period and could look forward to a good day. Paul, I think your offer to Alun on another thread of some fillets on Friday is rather tempting providence, although I admire your confidence. Terry.

    Hooks

I have a selection of most of the above but one that I discovered last year seems peculiar to me. For worm baits when bream fishing, I now use the Vanadium Red Worm hook from UK hooks. The fish seem to hook themselves due, I'm sure, to it's unusual shape. It has the attributes of a circle (mostly lip hooking) without the difficulty of baiting up with worms. Terry.
  24. Thanks for that, Adam. I also see that it's half the price of the Z step. Result! Terry.
  25. Dave, what's a Z step and what does it look like. I think this may be an answer to a problem; don't want a ladder in the way but need some means of getting crew on board. Terry.
