  1. Alun, I'll give you a call this evening. Terry.
  2. Done and circulated. The most worrying thing about this is that it is a back door way of tracking most of the population, most of the time. It's the sort of thing one used to read about in books like 1984 and say to yourself that it could never happen in real life. Strange, isn't it, that the country that has always lauded peoples civil rights is the first to dare to try a move like this. Remember this sort of thing at the next general election. Terry.
  3. Babel fish must be getting a pasting this afternoon. Terry.

I have a pair of stainless steel dog nail clippers that I use for the job. Otherwise a good sharp knife. Be prepared, the more active type fish bleed immediately and fairly profusely. It does make a difference to the flavour of the fish. You have probably heard that line caught fish taste better than net caught ones, something to do with the fact that they evacuate during the fight so this additional proceedure should make them as good as they get. Terry.
  5. Apologies if you're a New Labour supporter. The Government annouced today that it is changing it's party symbol to a condom because it more accurately reflects the party's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed. Seems to fit the bill! Terry.

Adam, this is good practice but still works even when the fish has been despatched and is a lot more humane. Because their hearts don't stop immediately after being clobbered, a good bleed is assured. For larger fish, I have a cord attached to a rear cleat to hang the fish in the water thus saving a lot of mess in the boat or ice box. Terry.

For years I have been using the butt end of a billiard cue, which is already weighted, for salmon. I have been given several proprietory priests as presents but stick to my old one. Butt me no buts! Terry.
  8. I'll keep my powder dry for another day at least, Alun. If it really looks worth while taking the trip down, I'm up for a blast on Gastronaught. I've got a big box of squid doing nothing much. Terry.
  9. Wait for the bolt of lightning!
  10. Happy birthday, Gordon. Have you though about writing a few predictions for the coming year? You could now call it 'Old Moore's Almanac'. Or has that been done? Terry.

    Bfm

Just to keep things even handed, I don't know about the rest of you but I found this month's edition of BFM to be both interesting and informative. Plenty of good photo's and interest for the angler fishing British waters. Well done. Long may it continue. Terry.
  12. For those who may be interested in navigation kit, etc., Steve Walker of JK Max Navigation has requested I point out that he will be very pleased to meet and greet any Club members on the Silva (Lowrance, Eagle, etc) stand at the boat show. His deals are very competitive (haggle) and there will be the young fellow from Lowrance there who is a whizz on the technical and operational side of things. Terry.

Au contraire, Martin. A relatively stiff wrist action is desireable and this can only be gained through regular exercise! Terry.

    Phew

I'll certainly do what I can to help, in my limited way. Let me know when you have some spare time and we'll have a get together. And a very happy New Year to everyone. Martin's, I suggest, will be happier than most, as long as he is not reminded too often about how much his happiness has cost! You cannot put a price on some things. Terry

O/k, chaps, you can all relax. Just arrived back from Austria with all limbs intact but wallet somewhat lighter. Great Christmas and New year with family and friends; it obviously entailed a certain amount of quality testing of the local brews but I gave of myself unstintingly. Now looking forward to some fishing. Hope the wind moderates to something considerably less that that which we experienced from Ostend to Ramsgate today! See you all soon. Terry.
  16. You're a very rude boy! Terry.
  17. Result. Thanx for that, Sam. I hope it helped you and that it also does so for Tom. Terry.
  18. Tom, further to our discussion today regarding fly fishing. Sam the Man has a very good video of mine instructing on the gentle art of the fluff chucker. I was going to try to get it back from him but you're more than welcome to have it first. This will at least get you on the right track and I'll then try to get together with you for a bit of 1 on 1. Terry.
  19. I'd just like to express my thanx for being included in the day, it proved to be fun and informative. It was also good to be able to knock someone elses boat about; thanks for trusting it to my amateur hands, Tom. I will contribute my musings on the 585 (geat little boat) but it will have to wait until the New Year as I am now flat out getting ready to leave for the drive down to Austria. Terry.
  20. Nice fish, me hearty. Boxing day lunch? When my new chart plotter comes this week (unexpected Chrimbo present due to old one being sh@gged, lost all waypoints) I may be pestering you for the secret location! No need to wish you a merry Christmas, yours has started already. Terry.
  21. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow, sorry I won't be there as it looks like being a good day. Here's hoping the fish come out to play. Terry.

Would that be you dressed up as Nanky Poo singing the lead roll in The Mikado? Terry.
  24. Be warned, you may be next, my cousin had a lucky escape. He walked into B&Q in Cwmbran yesterday lunchtime and some old git dressed in orange asked him if he wanted decking. Fortunately he (my cousin) got the first punch in and that was the end of that. Those less suspecting might not be so lucky. Terry.

A male singer with a deep voice. If you're quick, you could catch one. Terry.
