Tides and weather are looking ok for Friday and I have some holiday to use up, anyone fancy a day out? If we hear the bream have arrived that will do, but perhaps a go at some skate on the banks or back up with conger on an inshore wreck Regards Gordon

I have been emailing Craig Willis from Burnham to organise a trail away. The email copied below gives some suggestions on dates. Craig has since emailed me to say that the thornies have arrived. May looks like the dates with sensible launch times I would suggest we start a thread to see the interest levels Hi Gordon Really don

A guy charged into a bank today wearing a balaclava and wielding a gun. He made people lie down while he stuffed money into his bag. As he tried to leave one brave guy ran at him, failed to overpower him, but did pull his balaclava off. The robber shot him. He then shouted 'did anyone else see my face' most people looked down at the floor but one guy looked at him, so the robber shot him as well. He then shouted 'did anyone else see my face' and after a short silence a voice was heard from a far corner 'I think my missus got a glimpse.... "

This is what a large business in Singapore did recently -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the fire alarm goes off,...............stay where you are. ------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: A recent Evacuation Drill in a Singapore business... A friend in Singapore sent this today. ------------------------------------------------------------ A fire alarm rang at 4 PM when almost all shift employees are in office (approx 5000). As usual entire office was evacuated within 3 mins and every employee gathered outside office. 10 mins passed..................................5 more mins passed. Security Officer started Announcement: "Dear Employees - With melting heart I am making this announcement that for many of you it will be a last evacuation drill. Due to the recession we are laying off almost 50% of employees. If your ID card does not work anymore, then you are among those laid off and all your belongings will be couriered to you tomorrow. We followed this approach as we didn't want to fill email box size with layoff mails and good bye mails in thousands. We also wanted to avoid any fights inside the office. Hope you have a nice career ahead, please move in and try your luck". I think "your fired" would have worked!

I'm sorry I really can't you all so now I'm out on Fugazi

Saturday looks like a reasonable window from Wind Guru. I fancy another go at the rays and possibly a few spur dog and reef conger on the 9 mile banks, anyone fancy crewing? Regards Gordon

I also claimed for a rod and reel when on Blue Warrior. The rod holder feel down while Adam was hammering along and in it went. The combination of TLD 15 full of braid and a Conolon made it worth claiming Regards Gordon

Well I had my first service at PMS and what great value. I chose not to have the anodes done as they were still full size and intact, no extra 2 stroke oil required as I have been on the XD 100 from the start and guess what,

I decided to take Enticer out on Saturday (she was feeling neglected) and picked Dan up on the way to Baiter for an 8.00am launch. Lovely flat sea and the plan was the 50/50 banks for rays whilst the tide was running then on to our favourite quarry, eels We only gave the banks an hour or so before deciding to get on a wreck ready for a slowing tide. Whilst on the banks Fugazi came along side with his good lady giving the new engine a test run. The Optimax looked and sounded great Gordon, I bet she flys Well, at the wreck, first the mud / gravel bottom saw us dragging anchor twice, until a bit of improvisation, 4lb of lead tied on the chain / warp shackle did the job perfectly. Well it was a shame about the accuracy of my anchoring as it took a further 3 attempts to get on the money. The effort paid off as we were into fish from the off with some really gentle bites more like soft dog fish bites than 20lb + congers. We managed to get five on the boat the best at 42lb and another half a dozen missed or dropped before we drifted off the mark. Reanchoring on the ebb (Twice Must get a bigger plotter ) produced another small one before we set back off home again on flat seas so gave the engine a good clear out Sunshine, calm seas, good company, good food and a few eels to boot, what more could you ask Regards Gordon

At present I have only asked Craig to suggest an early visit to B on S for the thornies. I guess on looking for a return visit do they have a list of comps from you Adam? Or is this just a social fish event? Bass trophy will be the 22nd Aug. I will give Craig another email to see what he suggests Regards gordon

Unfortunately they are not allowed to use lead any more so most of them have run out of the old lead weights. Charlie I have a few sheets of lead left from another source. Will was going to make some up for a certain trip coming up soon . You are welcome to share it and maybe as the weather is cr@p at the moment we could combine lead moulding with a planning meeting? I will give my friend a shout to see if there is more but i will have to give a drink Regards Gordon

Thanks for all your kind remarks. It was one of those key hole jobs and it seems to be getting better by the day. I went and got my glasses repaired the day after so I am up and about. Funny but know one gave me any thoughts on ground bait! Should I have put it under fishing tips? Regards Gordon

Had my gall blader taken out on Thursday, should I be regretting not bringing it home as I have not made up any bream ground bait yet? Regards Gordon

Thanks for the trip Adam. Like you say any engine can have the odd teething problems. Humphrey was a star, coming accross half way through his fishing trip. Let's hope they find the issue quickly and you are back out again Regards Gordon

Thanks for all your kind wishes, although there seems to be an error in the dates as I'm only 40
