Mal Thomas Posted January 20 Report Posted January 20 A winter visitor to our coastlines, often seen in small flocks and once located the bird is confident in it's camouflaging feathers and therefore easier to study or photograph. Colin-58, Jim and Gummage 3 Quote
Jim Posted January 20 Author Report Posted January 20 Yes it was friendly . . . . .until Jackie pointed her phone at it for the photo. She only just got this one before it flew off. 👍 Colin-58 and Mal Thomas 2 Quote

"Only a few pairs of snow bunting breed here, so look out for this striking black-and-white bird in winter around Scotland, the North West and the East coast of England". Jim and sparky 2 Quote
Jim Posted January 22 Author Report Posted January 22 Came to sunny Dorset for a bit of winter sun. Maybe a bit of Dorset fudge as well. 😃 Colin-58 1 Quote
Colin-58 Posted January 22 Report Posted January 22 Jim, that is a wonderful photograph, really good quick thinking on jackie"s part to snap that. The character and clarity of the building in the foreground , the other buildings and mature trees in the main body, and the proportion of the sky are excellent, and yet the main subject adorns the centre stage most elequently . A bit of a wonderful memory maker moment for you and Jackie to see and take a photo of this rare visitor to the south coast of england, fantastic ! Jim, I think you should consider printing out an A four size photo for you and Jackie to hang in your home , I will be more than happy to find you some live edge wood I have cut on my sawmill that I think will frame it to perfection and add to the character of the Sean . That's Jackie s birthday or Christmas pressie sorted which ever comes first 😄. And if you could consider it I would love a copy , more than happy to donate to you or our club charity, may be some others thinking similar👍. Well done Jackie. Colin. Farmer and countryman. That would be an interesting challenge Colin. It's impossible to carve something from a photo without expert art & sculpting skills but I've managed it a few times. 👍🙂 Yes I'm up for it. Can you bring me some bits of a similar size please. It needs to be seasoned or it will warp & split all over the place. Are you coming to Feb's meeting? Colin-58 1 Quote
plaicemat Posted Thursday at 12:59 PM Report Posted Thursday at 12:59 PM The way I read it Jim was the wood was to frame it, perhaps I misunderstood. Terry. Jim and Colin-58 2 Quote
Jim Posted Thursday at 08:47 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 08:47 PM Just read it again Terry. By Jove! You may be correct. 😀 Colin-58 and plaicemat 2 Quote
Colin-58 Posted Thursday at 08:56 PM Report Posted Thursday at 08:56 PM Jim, Terry is right, I meant to print out a glossy A 4 on normal photographic paper, you know the old fashion way! Then frame that. Right, now on the basis a man that never made a mistake never made anything 😄 and when I was at school a triangle had three sides😄 now let's have a go.the second way, A friend of my family has a printing business , we are developing the idea of printing wedding photos etc on to figured wood, so you would need to what's-up the photo to my phone Jim 😄(07730249907) and leave the rest to me. And thirdly, if your carving technique does work you might amaze your self, have a go, nothing ventured nothing gained, that could turn out good as well, life's a learning curve Jim. 😄👍 plaicemat and Jim 2 Quote
Jim Posted Friday at 06:43 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 06:43 AM I was awake at 4 this morning thinking of this. (Probably a lie in) for you. 🙂 I'll send you the full photo and you can crop it to suit your needs. The bit I posted on here is already cropped & zoomed so I don't think it'll be any good at A4 size. Probably a bit grainy. I'll send it to you. Colin-58 1 Quote
Colin-58 Posted Friday at 07:20 PM Report Posted Friday at 07:20 PM Yes got it Jim thanks, when you print out your copy print a size your happy with jim, I understand what your saying about the grainy bit so you may have to compromise on size so your happy with quality 👍. Colin Jim 1 Quote
