WELL HERE GOES !. Following 4 pages of "techno speak" ,does "auto log on" mean you don't need to type in your password ? If so then mine doesnt,auto log on either,but my password is only 5 letters,and my life is not so hective that I cant spare the time to do it...perhaps as usual I havent grasped the facts jack

Andy got TWO new reels. A mitchell twin speed 20-30. [for great white's I think] and a Penn 6/0 or similar.. I myself got a very nice 8' plus 20lb hand built carbon boat rod..I have always wanted a long springy one ,with practically no weight...Didn't we do well ?. and thanks to patient wives who quietly listen to us rattling on,and obviously must take notes ,before going off to tackle shops ....jack

Commiserations Dan....been there ..done that...bloody nightmare.!!.. Just for info, and in support of Charlies thoughts, Andy and I buckled the 1/4" stainless wings on either side of the bow roller on the Arvor trying to break out a wedged anchor over the bow. We always pull out on our stern corner cleat now,[its a good big one ,well re-enforced below deck].. However I can follow everyones thoughts on the matter with a lighter boat. GOOD LUCK to all in 2006. and thanks to all who have given their advice ;support;and sympathy to us learners in the last year ... jack

Having opened mine,and seen and admired Andy's Christmas presents,The pressure is on !!. Any fish caught by us in 2006. will need to be Diamond encrusted to show even a partial return on overall investment...EASY PEASY !!!.. jack

Thank you Alun and Adam for your heartening "fishing report" ,I have printed and framed it !!and put it on the wall above my P.C... and as I sit reading all the wonderous catch reports in 2006,whilst turning green with envy,I shall allow my eyes to drift up to that frame and think " God has'nt only got it in for me...... Boxing day for Andy and I involves tearing out all his house carpets to lay Oak flooring.Never mind,we won't catch any less fish than usual.and at least we can have Rex Hunt on the TV whilst we work.. jack

Unlike the christmas shoppers. Andy and I on Pal-a-mine, had the sea virtually to ourselves.Under the 9oc.bridge and across a virtually empty harbour,out through the entrance onto a rippled seascape,with crystal clear visability to St Catherines Point.The sky was perfect blue and the low sun did it's best to make everything perfect.With a good forecast from the "fishing weather" website { compiled as I now realise by the scriptwriters of Little Britain ].we set off Needles wise.We thought that on the way we would take a look at Betsy Anne...O.K. who moved it ?? We circled about on our empty sea for 20 mins searching,and gradually realising that the sea was not as calm as when we started.in fact it had become Very LUMPY. So bad that we decided,to head West instead and literally battered our way covered in spray,with water spilling across the deck ,toward St Albans.On the way we crossed a really rough piece of bottom and decided to give it a try. We stuck it out being thrown about and battered in a screaming tide,for no result.After another hour,in need of refreshment without getting scalded, we up anchor and head for shelter.Once close in all was Bliss.It was warmer and calmer,and we even caught fish, A small eye,a thornback and the ever willing L.S.Ds. Andrew had a 15 minute fight to the death with a common skate,which turned out to be a 50 mtr.length of 30ml rope with accompanying weed growth,which had been loose in the water, I in turn not to be outdone exhausted myself in a deadly fight to the death with a plastic bag used to cover pallets..{does someone throw these things into our fishing zone,when they know we are out there ?.In all a good day out,but typical of our fishing expeditions...And what a glorious flat sea, traffic free,run back to Cobbs under a wonderful sunset sky....great..jack

It's wonderfully festive,but should have been announced in advance and carry a "shock to your system,health warning" Best wishes to All at christmas.... jack
