  1. Many Happy Returns Kam.Sorry I'm late,Did'nt get on line 'till this morning.jack
  2. Mike,What you need is an area of sea with a long downhill slope.I have photo's in my collection of several areas like this but unfortunately I cant remember exactly where they are... jack
  3. Nice one Sam,Looks like it's been polished ready for mounting...jack
  4. The Mawdauch. [exits at Barmouth.]..jack.
  5. Blimey Terry, are you on the same "jammy luck " tablets as me ?.. jack
  6. Quite right Mike,I forgot to mention being in a boat at the time !!,My 12' Zodiac has a 10hp engine,So there !! Unfortunately I dare'nt open it up as ,even with an extension tiller,it's downright scary .Very little control at all.I have the larger engine for tide punching when "2 up" with 2 dogs ;anchors ropes fishing gear etc.in my Welsh estuary.. I am too old and cautious to belt the hell out of it [perhaps 30 yrs ago I would have.]
  7. Well done Terry,Was the mackerel at the Poole end or way out west ?.. jack
  8. Relax Paul. The beggars are "winding you up " led by the chief "winder" who shall remain nameless. jack... Just to add to this,I can turn head into a strong tide ,and plane without moving an inch over the ground.so its all relative.
  9. To Paul D. [ .Re;"What is he at".,] I think it is known in polite circles as "soliciting constructive controversy" jack
  10. My impression is that Bream catches reported in our own area, are showing an increase in average size.I can remember when fish like these were only being caught in specialist trips out of Littlehampton. Is it down to warmer seas,; less commercial netting activity;,fishermen returning more fish,[quite common at one time,to hear of hundreds being caught and subsequently dumped at some competitions ]. more widespread reporting; or some other theory jack
  11. Well done Trevor on salvaging so much from what could have been a crap day. jack
  12. Seriously 'though it did look bigger on the Photo,I dont know if it was the closeness of the camera or if I was holding it out,Perhaps both,We were both a little excited at the time. jack
  13. Just for Gnasher.Of course my fish looks bigger than any other,Andy held it down and I put a cycle pump up its orifice and Bingo, jack
  14. Naughty..Naughty.! Mike, you are at it again,!!! jack
  15. You tell 'em Mike. What an uncanny knack you have of stirring up the...I mean creating a controversy,Although my Zodiac appears to"plane" at a very low speed, but I dont have any way of telling speed whilst useing it..Keep up the good work..jack
  16. Personal best for Jack.
  17. Jacks Bream from Saturday. Cruddy picture I'm afraid.Andy printed it from his phone and I had to re-photo to upload it.Still it does improve my appearance with a little "soft focus" as used in Hollywood. jack
  18. I have fished the ledge hundreds of times with my 16' longliner, with my wife most times. The anchoring was always the most worrying, until I had made up,A grapnel type anchor with 4 "spiders leg" type prongs [ in rod about a fountain pen thickness.each prong 18" long ] this held us in the strongest tides and was easy to motor out.It usually semi-straitened one of the prongs, and you just bent it back to shape for the next time.Hope this helps. jack
  19. Fabulous weather for a day out on Sat. Cool mist at sea. No fish until late afternoon. One fish each for Andy and I. His a piddling little Doggie.[learner !!] My one a Black Bream of 4lb 8 oz.Could not believe it as I thought it would be a strap conger, putting up a good scrap.Bait was a whole californian squid mantle on a size 1 circle hook. His stomach was full of Boiled rice and Bran.Thank you to all "rubby Dubby " users on Sat.We even double checked our previously unused digital scales by weighing all the different sizes of new, shop bought leads on board, just in case they were incorrect...Smiling at last.. Picture to follow if Andy's phone one is Ok,and he finds how to download it. jack
