I did'nt even give a thought about political correctness,I just thought ,I would not like it to happen to me or to my wife. How is the victim supposed to realise it's a joke. It's quite probable that I too would have thought it funny, after the event.Always supposing I had'nt collapsed with a heart attack.,Anyway, subject closed for me.We all have our own standards and opinions, and must live with them in our own way.....cheers Jack

Thanks everyone,I checked the site when I opened my "prezzies" at 06.30.and thought no-one had remembered,I cried for hours and was almost inconsolable...But it's fine now... jack

Well Here Go's. I am sorry,it's either me or my age ,but I dont find this funny at all.For the person on the receiving end it must be distressing or even terifying. If this is the modern idea of fun and entertainment then God help us all !I rate this as the equivelent of having the wing mirrors kicked off yor car by a bunch of yobs. Dressing the perpetators smartly and putting it on film as entertainment does not make it right.Perhaps I have been around too long and seen too many things done which people at the time thought to be amusing.Sorry if I have put a damper on your fun ,but that's how I see it....jack

Dont have it repaired. If its over 12months old it's probably already been superceded.I have an Olympusc-765.Its the bees knees.I spent 2hrs chasing all the dealers and comparison sites. The difference between the most expensive and the one I bought was over

Had a long discussion with the Saga rep this morning whilst changing my vehicle details. He says they dont make any adjustments in value during the lifetime of a policy, with the exception of vehicles

Thanks all, I did'nt know you could revise the write off value[i will try that later, but I have just bought a new van,]. I have tried other Ins Co.s, Their premiums are usually higher, You are rather restricted with Motorhome Ins.quotes.And many companies are refusing to cover you once you are 70+.In the main I think I am about stumped...cant take it with you anyway.!! jack

Ponder this one..Insured my Motorhome in 2000.value

Terry is spot on,in strong tides. You cant beat a "drogue",I have 2. a large one and a smaller one.I use them frequently when fishing in a large welsh estuary where tides belt in and out. My inflatable loves nothing better than to stroll about on the end of its lead in cross winds. My drogues are home made. One is a very large multi coloured NYLON beach bag,to which I have wired [or stitch] a metal hoop around its opening, use 3 short ropes from points around the rim to your streaming rope.It works better with a 6inch circle cut from its bottom letting some water strait through. My larger one is more like a wind sock, but a narrowing of the tube greatly affects its efficiency. You only need let out about 10' of rope.If you think it might be in the way of your fishing lines, incorperate a block of polystyrene or other float,to the drogue, which will keep it at,or just below surface level...Works for me !!jack

What you need Mike ,is the same device as Andy has. It's called a Jack [or Dad ]. You get it to stand on a side rail with the top of it's head at the same height as the GRP mast. [which is the highest point on the Arvor. You then approach what appears to be the lowest point of the bridge, normally between the steel beams,at a good lick !! If your Jack screams at the last minute, you don't have enough room.!.!.!.. Works for us.!.!...............jack

THANKS ONE AND ALL.!! ....Job Done.!.. Used my filleting Knife [does not get used for much else ] Skin was very tough but once through, the remainder was like an eraser consistancy [perhaps because it had only been in place 6 months.right down to the last 2mm I could not pull the fittings away.[ superb gripping material.].cleaned off the remainder with a blunt ,round nosed dinner knife. Then sealed 4 tiny white plastic plugs into the screw holes useing a small amount of sikaflex which had still not hardened from the original tube used when fitting the panel....Well pleased all round. Thanks again..jack

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to remove sikafix/flex or whatever.? I need to remove the Solar panel which I superbly screwed and glued to the roof of my motorhome.Needless to say I dont want to damage the roof surface, and would prefer to leave no trace other than the 4 small plugging caps I intend to seal the screw holes with..Any help /advice welcome. PS. has been in place less than 6 months...thanks..jack

Whilst trailer boating in the 80s,I used always to replace my alloy prop with a red plastic/poly-wot not prop.they used to be freely available in most sizes, does no-one do them any more ? Inexpensive, fairly easily worked on to remove dints etc. and throw away after a couple of hard seasons. ..jack

Looking a really proper job. Keep at it ,the SEASON approaches. Cheers jack

Can I Kidnap part of this subject as it touches on an unanswered question I have. My campervan has an 80w solar panel on the roof. [total dogs uno's ]. It has all the appropriate meters;diodes;failsafes ;limiters etc. built in.. BUT. can I keep it operational during the winter months {I know it will produce charge even on dull days }or will it overcharge or boil dry my leisure batteries,as they are not being used except to power the alarm. I have the van plugged in to the mains and switch on the in-built charger for a half day occassionaly, but dont always remember,..I am sure someone out there has the definative answer. thanks Jack

Out from Cobbs onto a totally flat.lead coloured sea, with matching sky.No wind no waves, lots of good bait. Was this to be our big "Cod Day ?". Was it bu****** !. Nevertheless first drop down on an offshore reef, produced a take the like of which I had not felt in the last 15 years.Something grabbed my 3 squid bait and made off with it.Huge head shakes followed and Andy said "cod for sure" It resisted my initial attempts to get it off the bottom and I convinced myself this was destined to be the biggest cod caught this year. The fish and I continued our Up and Down battle, continually stripping line against a drag, set dangerously close to snap-off point. My arms were killing me and I had to have several rests to waggle my arm and fingers. In the meantime Andy got me a chair and a butt pad. After some 15 mins or more and the obvious realisation that no Cod gave this sort of scrap, the THING appeared behind the boat. A Conger, but what a conger,it was still head shaking and spinning at the boatside and we both knew it was unlikely we would get this aboard. We wanted to weigh it, but where not prepared to use the gaff,it would not go into our large landing net,so Andy went out onto the bathing platform to drag it aboard,With its head on the step it gave a huge headshake and the lead running leader parted at the knot. [ I bought this item ready-made,never again !] The beast stayed on the surface laughing at us for a few seconds then slid away.I was dissapointed but happy too.I didnt like to say to Andy ,how much I thought it weighed but he said." that ruddy thing was over 50 lbs. My thoughts exactly, having been on many commercial wrecking trips in the past.Later in the session Andy released an eel over 30lbs. believe me,the first one could have eaten it.I didnt know such large specimins could be found on reefs. It was so good ,I dont even care if you believe us or not ..We were there, and had the thrill of it.. GOT TO GET A BIGGER BOAT.!!!... jack
