  1. Have a great Birthday Jim. Lovely day for it, take chance and wet your worm - see if there's a plaice about Trev
  2. 'Niggle' might have a few words! looking myself for a future upgrade to include radar for the first time. I do like the spec on Lowrance 3G & 4G,especially to go with HDS gen2.
  3. In no particular order......... Grauvell Teklon lure rod and a Snowbee Raptor 4000!! Hiro formula Bass rod and a Penn Slammer Liveliner 570 for a slightly heavier setup. I'd use both for most inshore bass, bream, plaice, flounder etc. they are very strong. The latter proved it's worth when I made a mistake over a wreck. Ended up pulling up 2 x 8lb pollock and a 2 lb black bream on the feathers from 200ft. worth every penny.
  4. You'll find most manuals online these days. Possibly need to buy on CD but really cheap.
  5. We should get this reported and marked as a hazard if possible! A gin palace at 30 knots would be in real trouble. Saw a French flag hit hook sands in 2003 ..... what a mess.
  6. Hi Gazza. Christchurch would be OK on a good day. Just need to choose your time for going in and out of the Run. Launch behind the RNLI base on the end of the quay and you're on the fish in ten minutes - lots of fish in the harbour too. Give me a shout if you go. Happy to take you on Otter to show you around. 8. Thanks chaps. i'm always glued to the sounder until it drops off over 3 metres
  9. Q q Me too
  10. Hope the silt hasn't killed the red weed or the bream will be late or a no show.
  11. Are the summer channel markers out yet, or do we have a date if not? I recall they are usually out around Easter. Looked on the mudeford webcam and can only pick out one red close in. The others could of course be further east out of shot. Trev
  12. Agree there are problems with the salmon farming still. It all became a dreadful mess back in the 70's & 80's due to a lack of knowledge in part, but a serious lack of regulation. The farms operate under license which should be the most powerful tool to correct any issues. but is it working? Pollution used to be the big chestnut, sea lice and the potential for genetic interaction with escaped fish are high on the list these days. Land based trout farming certainly south of Hadrian's Wall, has largely addressed it's issues, driven by economics and strong regulation.
  13. Peter, Don't really want to get into a lengthy twangle re fish farming and raw material sourcing but wondered where you obtained the information to make such a profound statement. Regards Trev

    Abode 11 For Sale

ooooh Craig, all for the right reasons one hopes. Best of luck with the sale chap. Right time of year for it. Where is she advertised?
  15. I hope UK fish farms will begin to get the recognition of their worth before too long. We have been in the doldrums for a while now. We have the tec. to farm many species but the market still prefers to kill wild fish as it is out of site - out of mind. Fish farms are in your face and due to massively over stated environmental issues, carry a poor name in many minds. We can farm: trout, salmon, turbot, halibut, bass, bream, cod, plaice, lobster, prawn and more..............
  16. Good man Allan. Otter serviced and ready all but plotter wiring and hope to join in from the Xchurch end! Tight lines you!
  17. 'Hong Kong Phooey Codpiece' have may talent Martin son............... Him Sen se of Methuselah and kick my ass long time. Happy Birthday Derek!
  18. Don't worry, It may have been a wrong un. Have you canvassed the members?

  20. She is on the river Adam. Seems I'm on parade for tomorrow as Grandpas first duty for Grandmothers day. Thanks for the offer! Let's talk. :-)
  21. Guys, I am a humble fish farmer, not an IT / wiring wizz. Help required please. I've done all the complicated bit of wire routing and even getting power into the system. But 'Dagnabit, I am missing a chromosome or summit' you know... the missing link!! Rob Francis and Bob Fuller, & others, simple advice woulld make me happy.............................. please. I have a standard Horizon CP175C plotter but need to connect to a compatable, allegedly better 'after market' smart GPS antenna. Has the inst. instructions, but confused.com. HELP! please.
  22. Mike, Great list of requirements/options. What are the cost implications?
  23. You read my mind, I love ling
  24. From the album: Wedger General

    12" x 12oz muppet leadheads.
  25. I put these together to see if they would pull a wreck monster. I'm hoping they would do the job with no additional lead. Might be on the big side so could cut the tenticles back a bit. 12" long and a 12oz bullet head up the pipe. The main hook has a good shape for hanging an assist hook on. Anyone else tried this?
