A great shame they can't divert their undoubted talent (hard to admit, but true), knowledge, organisation and attention to detail into something more legal and less offensive. They have all the mental skills which, if channelled suitably would hold down well paid jobs. The one thing they can't do is run at 3950 feet per second.............. 30th November On the move at first light 33knots on a flat sea across Christchurch bay to the Needles. Had a crack at the cod on a favoured spot which produced good fish in the past and we were not disappointed this time. First drop and within what seemed like only a couple of minutes cod on The bites came thick and fast with two more cod for me and one to Derek on the slack. Kermit the cod smiley contest. A PB whiting for Derek 3lb 13oz Usual others small conger pout various doggies and that cracking whiting for Derek. All in all a very good session. A double header of pesterizers All 4 cod one year class I'd say, 9-11 lbs Be lucky Trev

Mike, From speaking to a few in the know and not much from personal experience. Your run sounds more like a thresher, with the multi directional movements or a porbeagle that has no idea you're there. Dave's sounds much more porbeagle than anything else with a long sustained run albeit a bit sedate. Seen this, but faster, a few times. Twice, when we saw the fish before it headed for Rio without stopping.
