    Thurs....

    I have no wind either....
  3. Many thanks Gordon............I feel warm all over. Muddy flavour in trout is often a taint from algae in the water in which the fish has grown or recently spent some time. This is more widespread in spring and summer but can occur at any time (sadly often in a few stillwater fisheries.........allegedly). Just choose your source carefully. The cure and smoke of the side you have is a little more delicate than the one I took to the meeting, but nevertheless should suit the texture of that fish and eat quite well. Enjoy............
  4. Ooops Sorry Duncan................ We were concentrating on mechanical stuff and I forgot to turn up the radio when we got underway. Had a mostly pleasant day out if not just a bit slow on the bite. Excellent Dorset sausage baps though.. T

  18. We made it!! Otter is now back on her temporary mooring in Poole, thanks to a great deal of patient diagnosis and some spot on work by Tricketts Marine. Today, despite the weather and conditions we took her out for her first trial and part of her run in. All but the odd drip to tighten up, the engine is now superb. Smooth, sweat, clean & responsive, and with just a few short hours more on the engine at medium rev

How fresh is he Bob?? It's nearly Christmas Bob, and carp go down a real bomb with our new European buddies for crimbo vittles...................
  20. Anyone out in Poole harbour tomorrow?? I now the forcast is pants, so I don't expect many will be braving it We are slipping 'Otter' back on a mooring and may take her for a few hours warm-up-cum-run-in after her engine rebuild. If you see us about, give us a shout on the VHF.
  21. I've taken the liberty of entering all members names into the drawing for a Seven Night Cruise around 'The Bay of Islands' , on the 'Gypsy Queen' Cruise Liner. All airfares, transfers, food and drinks inclusive; with dinner at the captain's table, on one evening, as his personal guest. Good luck, and I hope one of you wins! Nothing is too good for my friends . . . . .
  22. I heard a rumour that 'the bar' and sorta channel, change shape and move a bit during high outflow from the harbour. This would be greater during the winter months when the rivers are at full flow, coupled with the more unsettled stormy periods.
  23. There are greater experts on this than I but a general rule would be not to try it 1.5 hours either side of low water. Paul J would be the one to ask. I once grounded my wilson F 17 with the engine trimmed out going through there, so at 2 feet draft a little caution is advised. The bar is littered with bits of prop and skeg Good luck
