  3. Allan, Have a look at the club bis area re. magnet up a rope trick This time of year when the mackerel seem to be more diffuse I try to bring them to me. Needs a bit of stuff but gets you in quick and on your mark on time. We boated well, well over 100 mackerel in under an hour with two rods, one being a novice an a bit unsteady. Great choice, allowing you to be critical of sizes kept. You have the power May the force be with you T
  4. Well just for the unofficial Cephalopod records I bagged a 3lb 8.5oz cuttle as well. Too darn much for a feed and a bit tough so have frozen to convert into 20lb cod next winter T

  13. Nothing found on inspection Refilled (1.2 litres was the loss) Engine run up to temp No visible sign of oil leakage Will venture out for a full load test tomorrow.
  14. If I get Otter sorted today, I may well be out on Otter. Who else is playing! Wedger
  15. Brian Thanks. I will do the inspections you suggest. Having mostly cleared the bilge I seem to have greatly over estimated the oil loss. I will know better when I refill. Cheers Wedger
  16. Had a curious oily belch from Otter's Volvo TD130 on Sunday . Our first run out and everything appear OK 25 miles or so covered. Oil pressure started @ about 65 psi cold. and dropped to just over 30 psi when hot. I thought that seemed OK.............any opinions so far? All seemed OK too when we switched off and I didn't notice any oil leakage at this point (but I didn't look specifically). We recovered her onto the trailer at Cobbs and left. The following day I checked her over and found half her oil in the bilge, the breather can looking quite wet . Is it a good assumption that whilst recovering we have inadvertently tilted her far enough down the slip such that the oil has covered the breather orifice at the rear of the engine. I am assuming then that with the engine still hot enough, pressure has built up to force the oil out of the breather . Any thoughts?

  22. If anyone would like any Sea Magnet (Freshly Frozen sea groundbait) brought to the meeting then please let me know ASAP. There are only a few small pots but plenty of larger blocks. Even if you only want a small amount then several of you could get together and split it up. I have no more freezer space to put up small lots so clear some if you can. By mid july I will be hanging onto everything for my sharking, so now is the time to get some in!! Cheers Wedger Also I have barrels of salt preseved trout eggs which make excellent ground bait. and can be stored in ya shed. No freezing!!
  23. Cracking job Al.........
  24. Yus Mike, Mrs Wedger can be a nervous boat passenger, so I kept the speed down a bit till we got used to it. Later in the day however, I gave her a blast from Studland round to Swanage for a fish and chip supper. Dropped herself off at the pier then loitered around for a bit, swabbing decks and supping lemonade. Picked herself up again 15 mins later and nipped round to drop the hook on the north side to take tea. Caught a few rays (UV type) then pulled the hook at 18.00, warming her up across Swanage Bay with a blast at 19.8 knots to the channel. What a cracking day to check her out and gain points. So sorry I didn't join the 48hr comp. but I had to concentrate on boating matters first. Found a couple of gremlins, but fixable for not too many squids I t'ink. T
