I have just found a ''dusk to dawn'' lampholder device in my shed, question, will it work with an energy saving bulb? thinking of putting it in the lamp on the corner of my bunglehouse to over my boat. Derek. (dont need a fire!!)

jason, Many people out there or where you the only ones? Clay pool at Xch used 40 plus years ago to be the place too see the fireworks for the Xch regata, Mudeford fishermen and those of us in the lifeboat with working boats used to form a large raft, Plenty to eat etc, some stayed moored up all night!!!! For what it is worth,I have had my 16ft Longliner on moorings at Xch,and on a pontoon at Cobbs, Bloody site cheaper and safer at home, also less fuss in kitting it up, (radio, plotter)etc. It takes me 20 mins to get her ready filled with fishing geer and goodies etc, and coupled to my freelander, 20 mins to xch 10 mins max to launch and park, and my wallet stays healthier, no trips day after day to check she is ok so fuel reasonable, If I want to work on her or run the engine up etc i walk out of my house with a nice cup of tea, climb aboard and play for 5 mins, one other small point, no anti fouling!! I have got a clean bottom all the time!!!! Derek

Kev, You could do worse than join the club as a full member, it is the best bargain you will ever get, more help and good advice than any man could need. club monthly meetings are great, I expect this thread will be picked up by someone from admin who will give you all the details, welcome and tight lines. derek.

I am not too worried about C/G and chopper search and rescue going private, after all the RNLI is in essence a private buisness although a charity. What i have yet to fully fathom is how this new set up is going to realise a profit, it aint doing it for nothing!! one point, we will never lose the helicopter cover of RN and RAF they exist to primarily cover their service personel but have allways turned out to ''civy'' distress and i cant see that changing, eg, Scotish highlands, Cornish coastline etc,etc, HAVE A GOOD AND SAFE XMAS TO ALL. I dont know what the flash bird is tying but a snell it aint. i dont know how to transfer drawings to the site but page 37 of the Jan 2011 total sea angling (just out) has it crystal clear and correctly tied.
