Small world really, Lorraine is one of my good friends, we both stopped over at another mutual friends house last week and has some beer. we both work for the same company on an account based in Reading. we talked about fishing and this trip she had booked and she was very dubious about going and killing things, sorted that out and some advice about weather clothing Etc, and said she just needs to have fun. Sent her a text yesterday morning to see how she was doing and found out about the conger, she had a great day by the look of it. will give her a call later

Alun thanks for another great day out, As always I learned a lot again today and am grateful. Just to echo your sentiments though, we do live in an area with spectacular views, and there is a lot more to fishing than just fishing. have a good Christmas and i will see you tomorrow (as ive left my keys in your car )

Unfortunately I have lost the entry forms for tomorrows comp, Will there be any available at Beta or are there any on the forum that i can print off? I have had a good root around the forums and cant see any. Thanks

Ahh damn shame Alun Hopefully you will do better next time, could be the different weather, tide, company or maybe the missing bait extras

Excellent day out Alun, Thanks very much and I'm still smiling after catching my first Cod and a great deal more fish than last time we went out (for me). In fact my smile is getting bigger as its just ready to follow the chips into the deep fat frier Shame i have to work tomorrow to make up for the time spent fishing today (although i would happily exchange direct hours from work to fishing). Thanks again

Before the recent fiasco one of the sites in the company i work for was running a name the teddy contest, it was believed that it was going to be called Ted or something else quite normal for a standard 3 foot high teddy bear. Its a simple enough idea you pay a pound and cast your vote, the name with the most votes is going to win. the British sense of humor though has taken over and you cant actually have that much fun for a quid, the charity is making a fortune and the company now has to face an embarrassingly named bear or cast enough votes itself to sway voting to a sensible conclusion. all the employees that know whats going on are very excited and playing the game as expected, keeping me amused on my daily ted updates

I also have some spare worms free to a good home if anyone would like them, only a fivers worth but a shame to waste them. I dont want anything for them, give me a shout if you will use them or i will dump them into Holes bay leter and let them go free. they will probably die but it will make me feel better ;-)

Paul let us know the IP address of the server hosting the forum and people can connect directly to that rather than through the domain name. Its a bit messy but will provide people with thier daily forum fix so rather than http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forum we have to use http://10.10.10.10/forum <- that is something i made up and wont work so no point in trying messy but should work

Alun, If i could publicly thank you for my most enjoyable trip on 'Gastronaught' and let you know those Pout simply deep fried in batter last night for tea were superb, didnt like the doggy though so they are safe in future. Although it wasnt wasted my red setter loved it.

Alun thanks for today i also had a great day, not to many fish for me (2 Doggies) but great all the same. And i look forward to doing it again sometime. One thing though, when you said "but it wasn't coming on board and my scales top-out at 30!.........." I am actually sure you said "that thing isn't getting on my boat" It was a big lad though. and i have now watched a pair of Cod caught, not as good as catching my own but great to see some caught,. I had to laugh when i got home when even after a good clubbing the doggie in the bag had a wriggle when my daughter poked it and asked if I was sure it was dead. It wriggled just as i said "of course its dead so she will never trust me again" Thanks again. Paul

I have a small tub of limpets in salt drying on the radiator at the moment, I am hoping that like Lug worm they dry down toughen up and this will make it easier to get them to stay on the hook whilst casting. Glad to hear that the idea is being used by someone else so is basically sound.

they nearly always get swept up after a good storm, they frequent muscle/clam and oyster beds. big storms sweep them away and a few tides after the storm they hit the beaches. I'm nosy and checked Google whilst putting off shelling them all. one carrier back took me an hour maybe a touch more to shell, not to long really and i checked Wessex angling earlier and they were

I thought i would consult the Oracle that is Poole Bay Small Boats After a walk across Sandbanks beach this morning with the hound i found millions upon millions of Slipper Limpet all along the high water mark, there was also lots of empty razor fish shells as well. I collected a bag full and spent the afternoon shelling them, I now have maybe a litre or more of peeled limpets and i was just going to freeze them when i thought i would consult the people that would probably know better. so freeze salt or some other method of preserving them? I did consider freezing half and salting the other half so i would toughen the salted ones up a bit for beach fishing, The frozen ones i was going to try filling squid with then using bait elastic to keep them inside for added scent trail maybe for the comp any thought welcome and go grab your own free bait. Regards Paul

I would love to with my Son if that would be ok, He is working nights now so Monday or Tuesday is the only time he can fish. If you only have room for one that would still be good, happy to go and buy enough bait for everyone and pay towards fuel if you like. Were still after the elusive first Cod. Of course if you have a regular crew thats cool.
