Find out more Welsh salmon inquiry concludes The Angling Trust made representations to the inquiry into the proposed all-Wales byelaws which would prevent the taking of any salmon by anglers and a ban on some fishing methods. We challenged NRW to address the real issues such as pollution and predation which are causing far more damage to stocks than anglers. We were appalled by the aggressive tactics of NRW’s barrister who launched personal attacks against volunteers from angling clubs, at vast expense to NRW. Well done to all those from Welsh fisheries interests who gave evidence. The inspector will report back on 17th May after which Welsh Ministers will make a decision. 5. In the mirror no doubt Greg...
  6. The big eight oh - hope you're celebrating...
  7. Was off Durley when you called up Terry - clear as a bell. Pleased you heard me though.
  8. 9.30 start with Ken and motored east to see Alun already set up. Joined in with a few plaice and various gurnards - tub and grey - and joined by a flotilla of club boats. Wind varied and meant a change of drift line. OK for Ken though he then had three double shots of gurnard and plaice. Wind became uncomfortable and westerly and so it was a steady trip back west for a final drift in idyllic conditions off Durley chine and more plaice. A good day - face caught the sun. Some plaice for tea too. Heard you call up Terrry but you obvioudsly didn't hear me reply several times. A good day out.
  9. Thanks for your kind offer Pete - have a crew sorted for the trip..
  10. Also planning a Tuesday trip out...
  11. All the best Mike - the big six oh.....
  12. Sorry - Unable to get out today as crew suffering. Good luck all who do get out..
  13. Is anyone else venturing out?
  14. Slow day for us in the bay - with good ragworm we persisted in drifting for plaice - final score 1 plaice & 2 pin whiting - good to be out but a little chilly. Early finish justified. Thanks for the company Geoff.
  15. Anyone else planning to go out?

  21. Thursday 21st February 2019 Welcome to your February Sea Newsletter We're Recruiting! The Angling Trust is recruiting a part-time Marine Regions Co-Ordinator to support and develop a network of regional marine organisations of the Angling Trust. We are looking for a passionate individual with a broad knowledge and understanding of sea angling in England. Find out how to apply here Fisheries Bill Update Last month the Angling Trust and Bluefin Tuna UK met with Fisheries Minister George Eustice and North Cornwall MP Scott Mann to discuss the new UK Fisheries Bill’s planned Grants and Funding Scheme. This will support recreational sea angling as well as our ongoing campaign for a new post-Brexit catch and release bluefin tuna fishery. Recreational Fishing Exempt From Discard Ban Recreational fishing has been made exempt from the EU Landings Obligation (discard ban) after an EU management plan for Western Waters was agreed by the European Parliament. This is a big success for the Angling Trust and European Angers Alliance who have been quietly lobbying for this for several years after it became apparent the ban on throwing dead fish back to sea, meant for commercial fishing, technically applied to recreational fishing too. Find out more information here Sea Angler Attitudes Survey The Sea Angler Attitudes research is an opportunity to inform the government about sea anglers’ views on its current and future management and development. This comes at an exciting time for sea angling as the government considers new policy decisions such as the new UK Fisheries Bill (see above). Be quick, it closes at midnight on Sunday! Click here to participate Volunteer Excellence Award Congratulations to Reg Phillips from Sussex on being awarded an Angling Trust Volunteer Excellence Award. 25. lazy 9am start with Geoff. Went out in favourable sea to an area south of Old Harry and dropped the NEW anchor. Baits set. After a while a sizeable whiting responded to baited feathers. With another couple dropped. Then a doggy on the bottom trace, The wind rose making it uncomfortable so it was up anchor and into the harbour where we tied off in the north channel and had a comfortable lunch in the sun and being sheltered from the cold wind it was quite pleasant. No bites to worms and a 30 minute drift of the main channel brought no response either so it was back to Cobbs for fuel and a cursory clean. Typical February session for us - thanks for the company Geoff.
