  1. Took non member Ken (Derek's mate) out for an airing and decided to try around OH towards Ballard looking for bream. First drop Ken had a sizeable pollock which we followed up with a number of dogs and later on a gar - but no bream. Sport wasn't hectic and we moved to the patch where again dogs were around and a couple of small starry smoothhounds. (is the jury still out whether starry and common smoothhounds are the same species?) Again no bream. A few drifts off Branksome only produced a goby so it was back to Cobbs at 5.30. Great to be afloat again.
  2. Best wishes Charlie - hope you're having a good one. Stuart
  3. Belated best wishes Dave - suspect you may not still be sober?
  4. |I don't know about them being a blot on the landscape - I can barely see the people on the beach in that attachment - let alone the wind turbines. They look like yachts in the far distance. I've seen far uglier sights walking down the streets.

    The next Wishin

Yes Nige - well worth the wait for sure.
  6. Don't think there's a Bass Pro in the city - I went here
  7. The big five oh in the Big Apple - can't be bad. I expect you'll be stocking up on cheap braid and fluorocarbon while you're over there. Have a great time Chris. Stuart PS - no fishing over here either - weather is cr*p.
  8. Sorry to read this Jim - I really appreciated your support when we had our glitch last year. Hope all goes well with the sale.

    The next Wishin

Good report Nigel - looks like the upgrade will be just the job. The rest of us will be looking over our shoulders at your species count now.
  10. Might it be possible that MDL could put all pontoon moored club members on the same or an adjacent pontoon to assist with each other's security. MDL could be receptive to such a suggestion in the current circumstances.
  11. Really tidy Graham - quite a transformation. You must be just a little excited now?
  12. Have a great day Jim - surrounded by family I suspect?

    Lost anchor

Pleased to witness your recovery Paul - never in doubt. Well done on the gar. Did it tail walk for you?
  14. Headed out at 8.30 with Cabin Boy and started with a drift in the swash on the last of the ebb. Weed, weed and more weed - the slimy dark brown sort - forced an early move to the ledge. Anchor down near Gastronaught and Marine Boy and PJ indicated sport was slow. We managed plenty of doggies, a wrasse and several pout before moving to a deeper mark further west. More doggies and pout. Wind freshened and we headed west for a couple of drifts off Branksome Chine where we managed a tub gurnard. 2pm Headed in and found the harbour quite rough with a steady return to Cobbs. Another enjoyable day afloat.
  15. Nice report Dave - well done on the species count both of you. Good practice session as you say.
  16. Wow, what a session and what a great fish. very well done on releasing it too.

    Happy Birthday

Three quarters of the way Derek.
  18. Set out just after 7am - headed east and anchored the ledge in a weak tide. A few doggies and small wrasse responded. This mix was the same after a short move. Nice to see PJ who came over for a chat. When the tide stopped completely we drifted west of the ledge to find more doggies and further west still a couple of whiting and a plaice for Cabin Boy. A steady return in the strengthening wind saw us at Cobbs around 3pm. No specimen fish but another enjoyable day afloat.
