    Inshore Cod

I agree with the comments above - what a good looking fish too. (not that I'm getting kinky...)
  5. 1) guessed you had to work Alfie when we saw Dream Drifter still on the rack at 8.30. 2) It was very pleasant Nigel - hope you get well soon.
  6. Very nice late cod - some of us would have been happy with one a fraction of the size.
  7. Cabin Boy dropped the anchor at the western end of the spoils shortly before 10am in a reasonable tide. Straight away the big baits tempted whiting and this persisted with just the occasional LSD. Cuttle made no difference. All whiting were coughing up sprats and I wonder if the cod may have been preoccupied. We moved to the swash as the tide eased and managed ----- more whiting. Another great day afloat with fresh fish to take home too.
  8. Great pictures and a great read - thanks guys - keep it up.

    The Open Comp

    Who's Brian? - he's called Dave........
  13. After a morning cleaning and tidying Sea Dream - Cabin Boy at his most efficient - conditions eased sufficient for us to take to the water. A fruitless hour in Holes Bay and a similar half hour in the main channel was followed by success??? near the castle when Brian brought up a long spined sea scorpion. A pout was our only other success. (Late ammendment - being truthful I forgot a small pollock and a good brown crab that had a lucky escape.) Another good spell afloat - and we didn't make the boat too dirty either.
  14. Took Sea Dream out with No 1 son on Tuesday - aiming to fish the banks near the 50/50 mark. Alfie and crew in Dream Drifter headed for the same area and we met up with him at anchor at about 10.15am - after a slow plod out due to the residual swell. Straight away the whiting were attacking our big baits - even the cuttle. We also landed pout, poor cod and dogs with no interest from anything memorable. (after the Lord mayor's show so to speak. ) Lifted the anchor at 2.30 and had a more reasonable trip back - the swell had eased after the tide started to flood. Still, as already mentioned by others, it was great to get out again.
  15. Planning to go out again tomorrow with No 1 son - non member. Will be looking outside the harbour to see if conditions are comfortable for deeper water.
  16. Belated best wishes Dave - hope you've recovered OK.
  17. Come on Jim, tell the truth, you were in the potting shed.
  18. Sorry to hear the news Nigel - get well soon.

    Idle sods

It's an age thing Terry - I know how you feel.
  20. In then lead already Nige. Lets see if you can remain in the lead throughout the year - another challenge.
  21. Well done Nigel, and all those who took part. Wow, well done Jim. What size plant pot does it need? Cabin Boy and I had a few hours with the flounders, whiting and pollock in the harbour. Didn't want to venture too far with the weather reports.
  22. No target species but certainly not a poor session with blondes and conger pulling your string. Good report too - well done.
  23. Not a blank though Nigel.
  24. Best wishes Paul - casting a line today? Have a good one.
  25. You are an old pro Jim.
